I have a feeling Sony is getting caught out here. Sony thinks they're winning by getting exclusive Activision stuff but I think Destiny wont be that great and cod is dying. Microsoft knows respawn game for EA will blow up as well as BF4. Sony might got caught sleeping again.

Knowing Microsoft, this will just be for timed-exclusive DLC. So basically, it's something that people won't give a shit about. I don't buy my consoles based on which will get me DLC a month sooner, that's something Microsoft has yet to fully understand. People buy consoles for the exclusive GAMES.

All the money that Microsoft wasted on timed-exclusive DLC this gen could have been put towards full exclusive games. They spent $50 MILLION just to get the GTA IV episodes earlier. To put that into perspective, a CoD game costs roughly $20 million to develop. So Microsoft could have taken that money and made 2 or 3 full games with it. Instead 360 owners got shafted for exclusives, and just kept getting the same 4 franchises over and over. They got fucked over by Microsoft, and I feel sorry for them. That's why I got rid of my 360, I was tired of Microsoft's shenanigans.

"People buy consoles for the exclusive GAMES."

That's total BS. Maybe some do but not the majority. Real gamers buy the console that they think will give them the most enjoyment and sometimes that doesn't mean just exclusive games. And will you guys please stop with the "MS could take that money and make a certain amount of games" argument. I'm sure they can afford to finance any game they want. It's all about making good business decisions. No one got screwed over by owning a 360 so stop beating the dead horse with that crap. Almost 80 million consoles sold and no.1 in the US for the past 2 years. That sounds like people like what it offers.

Nothing wrong with MS partnering with EA. Sony did it and it was the greatest thing ever to some. You guys need to just stick to being consumers because you obviously don't know much about running a business. Even if its only timed DLC it's still something good that gamers want.

Microsoft got rid of most of their first party developers so now they have to pay third party publishers for exclusives. I still don't understand what they were thinking over the last couple years. Sony has closed some of their developers but they still have a lot of them. Microsoft hardly has anyone left to make their exclusives.

You maybe underestimating something and that is the fact that most publishers/developers favor banning used games. If MS bites that bullet and goes through with banning used games you would be foolish to think that the bigger companies won't show them some preference over the ps4.

They want used games banned.
porkChop  +   1073d ago
They would be stupid for doing that. Gamestop has already shown that a very large portion of new games are purchased with money from trade-ins. People trade games in because they often don't have enough spare income to put towards new games. Blocking used games would also block rentals. Most consumers will not support a console that blocks both used games and rentals.

So if they really block used games, you'll see 3 things happen:

1) Sales of new games on the Xbox will go down.

2) People will buy a PS4 instead, meaning that sales of new games on the PS4 will go up.

3) Gamestop, Walmart, Best Buy, and any other retail chain that makes a lot of money on used games will shift focus towards prioritizing the PS4, further reducing sales of the Xbox.

And in case you haven't realized it, all of this would result in publishers shifting their focus back towards the PS4, because that's where the money would be.

EA better not do that. It's dumb to be an exclusive publisher with anyone now. You're going to lose a lot of customers. It sure won't make gamers buy a new Xbox over the PS4. What are they going to do, make Madden only for Microsoft? I doubt that.

Fing BS. EA isn't going alienate a huge chunk of their market to give exclusive rights to anyone for anything for any extended period of time. Maybe for the first year of the PS4 life when the console numbers are low and it doesn't cut into their bottom line. He'll, make all your games exclusive to the Xbox. Noone will care for the first year anyway. This is a bug out move by MS, because most of their first party developers abandoned them.

This will kill sony again if developers for multiplats choose an inferior xbox hardware to develop games for then port over.

Microsoft & Rare, version 2!

Is that why we did not see announcement from EA during he PS event.
Emzx99  +   1073d ago
Whats all this talk about "exclusive" DLC? Microsoft hardly dabbled in that, it was Sony that got exclusive DLC for Destiny, AC3, and a few more. Microsoft deals with the timed DLC. Which isn't as bad as people think it is. I mean after all you're getting a large scale bug test, for free.

Exclusive Kinect games or DLC.
RogueStatus28  +   1073d ago
I'm predicting EA, Kojima, Crytek, and Bethesda will all be at the huge Xbox event showing off their next gen titles. First party wise Black Tusk, Turn 10, and Lionhead.
ONI5  +   1073d ago
Madden 14 & 15 only on 720.
tommygunzII  +   1073d ago
It wouldn't surprise me if they did. They are both a mess right now and a perfect match for each other.
Prepare to be milked dry by this duo.

I love the xbox 360, my console preference, but if their ultimate weapon to sell nexgen xbox are 1 month timed exclusive dlc, then its bull****. i accepted ms for not releasing exclusive games late into this gen cycle from a business standpoint, but you need exclusives early in the gen to push the console onto hardcore gamers especial because we are the only ones who buy it.

i swear if they reveal the next call of duty or battlefield and expect me to get excited for the next xbox, then they failed- because all they do when demonstrating other multi plat games in their conference is get me excited for nextgen- not nextbox.

I mean what are multiplat games doing at an msoft conference or sony conference? they should be in the respective company's conference that made them.

And honestly HALO 5 OR GEARS OF WAR 5 forza 5 (gears of war is overkill) will not get me excited for nextbox- i wanna see some fresh interesting new ip from msoft studio that is not an xbox live arcade game. What im tryin to say is show alan wake 2- or something cool like that- i mean nintendo secured bayonetta 2.
