Looks like a Samurai.
Ashunderfire86  +   959d ago
There were rumors of Assassin's Creed to take place in China or Japan a while back. So whoever disagree prepare to eat your words. Just look at the picture that is evidence enough.
PockyKing  +   959d ago
There was no rumor of the game taking place in China or Japan. A fan made art of the concept, nothing more.
Gamehard  +   959d ago
And it doesn't look like a samurai at all, lol ruffles coming out of the sleeves, and it's pretty obvious that's not a samurai sword on his belt. And the artwork kinda gives it away as pirate themed. Sorry bro :(
mep69  +   958d ago

Yep i'm with you. If the words "black flag" wasn't pirate sounding enough, we then have a piece of concept with pirates in it.
SHORYUKEN  +   958d ago
PockyKing is right it was a fan made art.

But what if.... it taking place in China?

The I say bring it on it will be great!
irepbtown  +   958d ago
Second pic looks like they are on a ship. I'm thinking Pirates considering the dudes beard.

They really aren't giving anything away at this point.

E3 I guess..
Minato-Namikaze  +   958d ago
Asians cant be pirates? lol. But i still need to finish liberation :(
guitarded77  +   958d ago
If "Black Flag" isn't pirate enough for you, petition Ubi to call it ACIV: Peg Leg... of something like that. Now that I think about it, it would be badass to assassinate people with a peg leg. Oh, and I must say... AC is officially played out for me. I just can't keep up anymore. I love the series, but damn... really??? We don't need an annual game. It just wears on the player. Bi-annual would keep it fresh. Although the ship levels from AC III were incredible.
Reverent  +   958d ago
I agree that it very well may be pirates, but @irepbtown, you're really basing the theory just because of the guys beard? lol.
PS3Freak  +   958d ago
The second image clearly shows a skull and crossbones flag.

There's no "it could be pirates". It's pirates. Unless these images are BS.

ElectricKaibutsu  +   958d ago
According to the article it is indeed about pirates and will take place in the Carribbean.
starchild  +   958d ago
They SHOULD do one set in Japan. I think it would be the most interesting setting.
AsimLeonheart  +   958d ago
Another Assasin's Creed already??? Ubisoft is really milking the franchise.
ABizzel1  +   958d ago

I agree as well, as @mep69 said Black flag sounds like a pirate game, on top of that they wouldn't have spent all that time developing naval battles in Assassin's Creed 4 for nothing. It was a tech demo for a true Pirate based Assassin's Creed.
ZombieNinjaPanda  +   958d ago

I think Black Flag is more punk than pirate.
gedapeleda  +   958d ago
Set in the caribbean
Maximum hype, I always wanted one in Caribbean.
ps3_pwns  +   958d ago
You done goofed. the amount of disagrees you recieved is astronomical!! I dont think you will be able to recover from this fail so easily lol.

Awesome assasins creed 4! wonder if it will be on the ps4!
Autodidactdystopia  +   958d ago
depth of field looks nice
gamingmaster2013  +   958d ago
Only way this game is gonna be interesting is if the pirates are somali pirates!
CapsLocke  +   959d ago
Looks like more of the same.
Snake Raiser  +   958d ago | Funny
You mean Assassin's "press counter button to win" Creed?
grailly  +   958d ago
this has me worried, AC series has a lot of potential, and some of the games in the series are good, but I really disliked 3, it felt like it wasn't polished at all and rushed in some parts. If we already have a poster, I'm worried AC4 will have the same problem.
Eyeco  +   958d ago
I've said this before, people are quick to jump on the COD hate band waggon with it's annual release, but Assassins Creed ALWAYS gets a free pass
UnholyLight  +   958d ago
More of what we don't want. We don't want another fucking terrible game like ACIII, we don't want fucking pirates or whatever. We all want an asian setting for the next AC, too bad we won't get it..

yeahokchief  +   958d ago
I stand by what i said a few weeks ago about the AC series.

I will buy one of these when they go into space.

Because by that time it will be so ridiculous that it will be comical.

This pic got me a little excited because it's a bit blurry and it looked for a second like he was wearing a space suit.

I got as far as Assasins Creed revelations... too burnt out fromt he series to play AC3, let alone ANOTHER sequel.
profgerbik  +   958d ago
Umm - Black Flag says Pirates, even the cover, shows a bunch of pirates.

Meh not into pirate themes.. I also could tell that one screen shot looked like a pirate outfit.
-Gespenst-  +   958d ago
No, it looks like Connor. The poster in particular. It's the hair in the screenshot that gives it away for me.

EDIT: Just realised the whole Edward Kenway thing.

If it's anything like AC3 I'm not interested...
Ashunderfire86  +   958d ago
Ok I was wrong so stop responding you prove your point lol!!!
Sam Fisher  +   958d ago
They are going to stick to this generation of ac for about three games or more than move onto an other generation, i personally dont like the generation ac3 took place, doesnt feel unique to me, feels abit too generic, it wouldve been nice to go for a different pace, like as china, japan, f&$k at this point i wouldnt mind africa, something different
braydox21  +   958d ago
well it would be pretty awsome if this game takes a world approach, i mean like you could travel to places like singapore, the middle east, Africa, Britain,
tubers  +   958d ago
Africa? Sounds cool!

If it was Japan, you'd just be a typical ninja.. probably won't feel too special :P
Ser  +   958d ago
It's obviously something piratey. "Black Flag"

Not a samurai.
rpd123  +   958d ago
Samurai wore flags called sashimono on their backs so they could be identified. The title could easily be a way of saying that it's a samurai without a cause. Ronin type stuff.
Ser  +   958d ago
I doubt a development team would use the term "black flag" to describe a ronin / samurai setting for an AC game. Not recognizable enough for the mainstream.
rpd123  +   958d ago
True. It's just odd to me, because the screenshot of the character doesn't look pirate-y to me. And he looks nothing like the person in the promo poster. So one has to be fake.
Andreas-Sword  +   958d ago
I hope the new Assassin is a Samurai!
007Bond  +   958d ago
Wow another ASS creed coming what a surprise just like COD now.

Nimblest-Assassin  +   958d ago
Even I'm not that excited :/

They need to give the series a break... they say a new dev team was working on this for years... but how can they address the problems with AC3 in such a short time...

Why is AC the only ubi game with a yearly release... I really don't want the series to go stale...
peowpeow  +   958d ago
I was the biggest AC fan, story, gameplay everything. I absolutely loved AC1/2/B/R but I can't even get through 3..
Eamon  +   958d ago
Well, let's wait and hear more details. AC3 was released a year after Revelations yet it was in the making for 2 and a half years. Not that AC3 was very enjoyable, it had a lot of faults.

Hopefully, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag can be a breath of a fresh air for the series.
ironfist92  +   958d ago
I was sold on Pirates, tbh. Not enough games based on Pirates...or Dinosaurs for that matter.

We need a Dinosaur-fighting Pirate game.
Cyfyxtfg  +   959d ago
New one already?
GiggMan  +   959d ago | Funny
This one takes place on a farm. :-)
IAmLee  +   958d ago
the first 42 missions will be based around crops and farming. The last 3 you will become an assassin.. :')
doublejj  +   959d ago
i agree this is so soon as the one that just released October last year is still fresh but that's just the business of gaming as they strive to keep content fresh when they have no more DLC to send out but they can easily put this game as DLC into AC3 but it would not be logical for business and they want to be in tune with the next generation.
Moncole  +   958d ago
There is one every year.
WeskerChildReborned  +   958d ago
It's to be expected..i mean for the past few years, AC has been releasing yearly.

Trenta27  +   959d ago
I love the series, but please be somewhat pretty at least. AC3 was like a PS1 game in some areas and others completely gorgeous. It was all over the place.
Th3 Chr0nic  +   959d ago
waaaaaaaaaaay to early for them to be showing this off. is ubi turning AC into the next COD with all the milk they are trying to squeeze out of it? I havent even finished ACB or started ACR let alone touched AC3 and now this wtf
HorrorGod  +   958d ago
You can easily beat each AC game in 20-30 hours. (That's WAY less than it would take to get to max prestige in a CoD game, kids.) It's all the running around/killing/exploring that people do that turns them off/makes them get bored and not complete it. It's the same with the GTA franchise. But, if you buckle down and just pump out the missions, it's a very enjoyable story.
HarryKawkReturns  +   958d ago

C'mon man...

Th3 Chr0nic  +   958d ago
I tend to enjoy the exploring part of things. Like right now I am playing Far cry 3 and have like 40-70 hours of playtime in and i've just gotten to the 3rd island not long ago. hard for me to tell the exact time ive played since i quit and the ubisoft launcher stays on when i walk away for hours making my steam playtime add up when im not really playing.
i explore and run around getting in random encounters and firefights and set booby traps and all kinds of stuff.
GiantFriendlyCrab  +   959d ago
will AC4 be using same engine as watch dogs?
ChronoJoe  +   959d ago
I doubt it, watchdogs engine was built specifically for watchdogs. A lot of engines are game-specific. It's actually better that way, as you can push performance in the right areas with more efficiency. You build the engine up to do specifically what you want it to.
Lucreto  +   959d ago
Well we will know by this time tomorrow.

I hope the character is like Haytham Kenway as he was more interesting than Connor.
ironfist92  +   958d ago
I was personally siding with the Templars idealogieis spoken by Haytham, tbh. More so than Conner and his Assassin agenda.
Root  +   959d ago
Whats the point of calling this one AC4 when it's basicaly what Revelations and Brotherhood were to AC2

Why give it a subtitle...I mean if it's before AC3 then basicaly it's a prequel
#9 (Edited 959d ago ) | Agree(10) | Disagree(1) | Report | Reply
-Gespenst-  +   958d ago
Yeah, it should at most be like a second game in a III trilogy. "Black Flags" being a subtitle much like "Brotherhood" and "Revelations" were.

You don't subtitle a main numbered AC game...
Root  +   958d ago
I thought the whole point of the subtitles was to give us new titles with the same engine and then show us the jump in gameplay/graphics etc in the main title games.

This is going to look so out of place in the series. Reminds me of Mission had Mission Impossible 1-3 then all of a sudden Ghost Protocol
HorrorGod  +   958d ago
Agreed. I'm hoping they drop the "IV" from the title. Especially with the rumored animus story taking place before AC3's, it just seems like a spin-off and not a true follow-up to AC3.
Root  +   958d ago
I was thinking about will the animus still be a part of AC4. I mean I havent finished AC3 yet but I know "you know who" is gone

They can't say his story is over then bring him back for a main titled game it wouldn't make sense

Plus having an entire game without an out of the animus break who seem too much for me

geez not another AC game, I still have brotherhood, revelations & III ( both PS & Vita ) still to get through. I started Brotherhood but just wasn't ready for more AC after the 1st 2 games. I think I have decided to not support any franchise that releases games yearly, I just don't have the same desire to play the same game every few months when there are new games to be played or some old franchises that actually have gone a few years between releases.
sonerone  +   959d ago
if this goes to pirates of the Caribbean I finished with the series, the main thing what I loved in ac, that it was the most similar platformer to prince if persia... I didn't like naval missions in ac3...
madara0sama  +   959d ago
Yea I'm not getting this Pirate BS either. Hated the naval missions.

Root  +   959d ago
Glad I'm not the only one who didn't like them that much

They were alright but got boring fast

Besides this is AC....if they want to do Pirates save that for a new IP

This game is about Assasins vs Templars not Pirates vs the world.

I feel like they are loosing focus on what AC is
dooge  +   959d ago

People get so bent out of shape will yearly releases (especially for SP oriented games).
No one is forcing you to buy the games when they first release; buy on your schedule.
They will not be going anywhere, you can pick up a copy basically anytime you feel the need.
The games aren't bad, they do create new aspects, new worlds and interesting stories..

My only question, though, is what they are going to do about the Desmond role..

I'm still semi comatose after playing the first...
Cam977  +   959d ago
I'm not buying it
After religiously following the franchise since AC1, there have simply been too many games with too little changes. I enjoyed AC1, LOVED AC2-ACR but AC3 is so boring! There is so much to it that simply makes it boring to play. I'm glad I had the game spoiled because it is an absolute borefest.

Goodbye AC, you just don't warrant a purchase anymore.
isyourhouseonfire  +   959d ago
It will be hard to top AC3, but AC4 is actually looking purty good.
opabato  +   958d ago
It will be hard to top the freshness AC2 brought at that time, topping 3 isn't so hard.
Sketchy_Galore  +   959d ago
I was hoping you were gonna be playing as a roadie for an 80's hardcore band. Still, I'm torn because on one hand I've always wanted a decent pirate themed game and on the other there's probably nothing I'm more bored of on Earth than Assassin's creed.
Shotcalm-  +   959d ago
If you think about seems like alot of work for nothing to implement the naval warfare in AC3 as side missions and the some small segments of it in the story. Maybe they were just testing some new work in progress game mechanics...
Williamson  +   958d ago
If the next AC has something to do with pirates, then consider me kind of interested. I thank one piece for that.
Unlimax  +   958d ago
After the Ending of AC3 *Spoiler* "The world" is in danger !

I think Ubisoft is going to milk the game more than ever .. Even worse , Much much worse.

Pirates and zombies?
fsfsxii  +   958d ago
Ubisoft's buisness is really great, make a great franchise and milk it to death...
And not another one..please give it a break, i couldn't finish the last one
ginsunuva  +   958d ago
No they experiment with some things here and there until they get a decent amount of success with one... then they milk it like some supercow.
It's like fishing with different bait and when they get a bite they go all out.

Let's try AC instead of Prince of Persia and Raving Rabbids for once..... OMG SUCCESS MILK IT!!!
Now let's try Far Cry 3.... OMG SUCCESS MILK IT!!!!!

I bet anything that Far Cry will be milked from now on.
fsfsxii  +   958d ago
Unfortunetely, yes, its the truth, their next milking target is Far Cry series, AC was good only with AC2, then it got repetitive, boring and they kept dragging the story till revelations, i think i'm done with them, yea, as for Raving Rabbids, that game sucked IMO.
profgerbik  +   958d ago
Ew no Pirates... please.. Haven't we seen enough of Pirates of the Caribbean..

Out of all the awesome era's in time they could put take concepts from, they choose pirates..?
azshorty2003  +   958d ago

It's an impressive shot. And that really looks like Connor, which is a plus for me.

EDIT: I just can't believe III only came out like 4 months ago though. It's WAY too soon for IV. I was expecting a Connor trilogy but not this, (although as said that does look like Connor).

Maybe this'll be the true final game in the series like III was supposed to be.

2nd EDIT: Just realised the Edward Kenway thing.
