i hope they dont.. It might really hurt them if they go that route.. Some people dont have internet unfortunately..
Hicken  +   1002d ago
Hopefully they won't. But I still say they're the only ones who have the gall to do it.

If the games are connected to a particular console as the rumors suggest, what happens to someone's games if their console breaks?
hellvaguy  +   1002d ago
Not attached to a console, dunno how you came up with that idea. Games would be attached in the same they are with steam, xbl, and psn. To your user name.

Pachter commented on this a while ago, as much as everyone hates his predictions hes right.

Retailers stock MS/Sony products and are the primary method for selling their content. Blocking pre-owned would alienate most of these companies (Gamestop/Game for example) and the last thing you do is slap the companies who sell most of your content.

And one reason why it might.
omi25p  +   1001d ago
So by making LESS money by not allowing used games they would be greedy.

Your logic is astonishing
krisq  +   1001d ago
lol, what?
How is it less money? If the rumors are true and every Xbox game will have a pass, you will need to buy it for pre owned games. Just like online pass today. MS earns nothing from used games on 360.
amiga-man  +   1002d ago
There are plenty of reasons they shouldn't block games but anyone who can take your internet away and force you to pay to get it back is more than capable of pulling more crap out of the bag, I can honestly see them doing it.
delboy  +   1002d ago
But they will, maybe not from start, but definitely sometime later down the road.
And Sony will follow if put under pressuer from EA.
Did we had online passes from the start of current gen?

I really hope the new xbox does play used games and what happens to people who rent games like at redbox or gamefly. Does MS really think people just want a demo before they spend 60+ on a game that might suck.

6 reasons why I didnt read this idiotic article...

See I can do it too!

Its a video...

Microsoft don't block used games because Sony either didn't. If MS block the games nobody will buy the next xbox, because this politic is against the consumer freedom.
kevnb  +   1001d ago
i bet they will, and just like people pay for xbox live.. people will just accept it.
KaBaW  +   1001d ago
There is a huge difference, though, between the two.

I can't help but think that the video is well made and brings up important points, I fear that Microsoft will be falling into the same trap Sony did at the start of the PS3 generation. Hubris and Greed acts as a counterpoint to each of the well thought out reasons above, I can only hope that they choose not to have always online/used game blocking but comments from studio president's such as Ian Livingstone (Eidos Interactive) does not leave me holding my breath.
