about "treefiddy" but in reality most likely $450-$500.

----------------------------- ----------------------------
"However, we had a staff member at DICE and he heard about a game cancellation on Wii U and after putting the pieces together we’re fairly confident that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is the game that fits the description. The game was a sequel to a game that flopped commercially but built up a fanbase over time. It was in development for Wii U and the hope was to “up-port” it to future consoles for launch but things looked risky from the business end. The two reasons given for the cancellation of the project were:

1) Sales of Wii U were too low in Europe, where the publisher was looking to get a significant amount of the game sales.

If it is at $299-$399, Sony are winning the 8th generation of gaming.
reynod  +   1086d ago
Depends how much they charge for the games.

I mean it would suck if they charge 300usd for the PS4 yet charge 70usd or 80usd per game.

I would rather prefer the system cost 500usd and the games remain at 60usd.
xursz  +   1086d ago
$400 Vanilla Edition. $500 Premium.
DatNJDom81  +   1086d ago
I payed 550 for PS3. I am willing to pay that much even a little more for PS4.

I'd be good with $399
TheLyonKing  +   1087d ago
I am fine with paying of upwards of 300 quid and maybe at a push 350
Furesis  +   1086d ago
really? no offense but i want the console to be good in power so i would have to say 550 euros mind you not pounds or something along those numbers i know it looks expensive but i want it to be as good as it can but hey i'll be happy if they choose 300-350 "quids"
SandWitch  +   1086d ago
$400 is the sweat spot IMO. Though I would not be surprised if it's more than that. Dual camera and a fancy controller sounds expensive
SugarSoSweet  +   1086d ago
I'm good with $400 dollars
ded1020  +   1086d ago
$299. Like the good ol days.
xursz  +   1086d ago
Not likely. People are still buying PS3s for $300.
PS4isKing_82  +   1086d ago
A $400 PS4 will win Sony their fourth straight console cycle.
Aggressive new marketing will be a plus.
KwietStorm  +   1086d ago
They'll win what? What did you say?
SOD_Delta  +   1086d ago
@ PS4isKing_82 You're funny. PS3 lost this gen to the Wii. I hope Sony can take the title back next gen with PS4. Sony FTW!
caseh  +   1086d ago
Depends on your definition of 'lost' really. My Wii has been collecting dust, used as a door stop or as a paper weight for well over a year now.

I'm still playing my PS3 on a daily basis.
SOD_Delta  +   1086d ago
@caseh I'm going by sales. If I was going by which I played the most it would be PS3, 360, then Wii. PS3 was without a doubt the best for gaming this gen. 360 was great for the first two years. After that 360 died for me. I never cared for my Wii, so I sold that long ago.
nintendoland  +   1086d ago
you just have shit taste caseh. I would be mad too id i had ps3
caseh  +   1086d ago
Yea totally nintendoland, my tastes are pretty bad but not to the extent of being spoon fed games designed for 5yr olds who can't cope with having more than 2 buttons to press.

Get back in your hole and keep looking forwards to the 187th iteration of Mario, yay! *claps hands*
g-nome  +   1086d ago
$400 should be ok. Sony need to make up for my $600 ps3 that lasted only 2 years.
MightyMatt101  +   1086d ago
$399 is the perfect price point if you want a significant leap graphically. $299 would just be an underpowered system. I know graphics aren't everything and it doesn't make games good. If I'm shelling out money for something new I want to visually see an improvement if not I'd just stay with my PS3.
mayberry  +   1086d ago
If I could get it today, I'd write a check for $10,000.00
CatXFlash  +   1086d ago
And then get arrested when the check flops? LOL
Aggesan  +   1086d ago
Me too! I wouldn't have coverage for it though..
ziggurcat  +   1086d ago
my guess is that it's going to be $400 - $500.
TimeSkipLuffy  +   1086d ago
$199 or less without changing the hardware XDD

well... the Vita started with a price tag of $249/$299... I guess something between $100 and $200 more sounds realistic...

Summons75  +   1086d ago
Anything higher than 350 will be suicide. People cried about the wii u after saying their "perfect price" and in todays economy people want affordable prices. It took the ps3 to start selling really well at 300 and people still wanted a price drop. So I say 350, give a 500gb hard drive with at least he promise of all the Psn things backward compatible, software will be a huge plus but people aren't going to want to buy if they have to forfeit the hundreds of not thousands they spent on Psn last gen.
Furesis  +   1086d ago
how much does the new iphones cost? think about that
Summons75  +   1086d ago
Yeah compare two completly different products made for completly different people..... And going by your logic the ps3 also releasing with an iPhone's price tag should have been a smash hit and hardly have been on shelves instead of nearly killing Sony.
pennywhyz  +   1086d ago
$300 cause consoles hardware is always outdated. But i got $600 just in case.
xursz  +   1086d ago
Consoles aren't just a graphics card. You have to factor R&D costs which are enormous compared to off-the-shelf pc components. As well as operating systems, part of the reason consoles are so popular is because you get everything you need out of the box. And the hardware is basically gauranteed to hold the industry standard for about the next 10 years.

Basically anyone asking for less than $400 should stick with current gen or Wiiu for the next few years. Just saying.
seanpitt23  +   1086d ago
^^ This guy talks sense it need to be more than $400 or you might as well stick to ps3 even my Sony phone was $550

$400 is good it does not take much to get a decent upgrade from a PS3 now in days since tech has changed.

Tomorrow will be amazing!

one dollar over 400 is asking to much , and by 400 i mean 400 should give you the best version of the system.... fact

i can build a gaming computer for 400 that will outperform ps4 and 720 w/ the low price in hardware these days

if sony ask for anything over 400 RIP sony , you already lost the console war b4 it started , i can almost bet 720 will be 299 or $360
hobohunterz  +   1086d ago
No no no.
SatanSki  +   1086d ago
I would pay 700$ for console witch adequate hardware.

I could really care less at this point because ive been saving for this and I just got my taxes back so I have set aside a nice fund for this baby on launch day

£300 with some great launch games and it will do well in the UK.

Anything less than £300 would be a bonus. I hear reports of it costing £279 in Japan, but if you add VAT then it'll be £300.

If Sony prices this right, not only will it be more successful at launch, but they'll be making profits sooner; maybe from day one.

paul1974  +   1086d ago
Amazing! so fanboys! with the specs declared by you as amazzzing! you want them to sell the console for less then $400???

If the nintendo wii u is only in your opinion slightly more powerful then the current ps360 with its 2gb memory and makes no profit/breaks even, how will sony bring the ps4 to market at a similar price with more expensive tech?? are you saying the will sell the console at a loss?? can a company who are on the edge even able to sell products at a loss? sony are losing the TV wars to samsung, their mobile phone business has gone too.

So do we expect as any PLC will want and its shareholders a profit to be made meaning 2 things!

1) The price will be high!
2) The specs only slightly better/similar to wii u?

I guess Sony could say "here you go a nice powerful console for you and just so you know we will be losing money on everyone"

Do not fear enjoy it for a while before we go bust!

Besides Nintendo, the console business model has always been to lose money in the beginning and then make a profit from the console as you bring the cost down on parts. That has almost always been the case.

But times have changed. The next generation of consoles won't be so expensive to make. It's funny that many people saw the leaked documents for the next Xbox, that Microsoft admitted were from them, but most missed the part at the bottom that said they expected the cost to be around $299.

That thing had 3 CPUs and two GPUs. The reason for the $299 estimate was APUs. An APU can have a CPU and GPU on it and cost almost half the price of the separate parts. Neither of these powerful consoles will cost more to make than $400. I believe both will be less than that. But they will cost $400. The PS3 has taught both of them that $400 is the sweet spot for a console launch price.

Sorry Madmen. I hadn't read you're post. Bubbles.

399 market analysis has shown anything higher and consumers lose interest and see it as over priced.

We learned this with the PS3.

SONY will not repeat a mistake, 399, count on it.
Dno  +   1086d ago
i am with you but i think the starting price will be 400. the bundle price will be 450 or 469.99
MadMen  +   1086d ago
Yeah that would make sense. They will likely tout 399 in order to make a point as their entry price to look as low as possible.
