I hardly even use Near. Never bother checking.

I don't use it much either, but I have met some cool gamers in my area through it.

Even met some "non-gamers" through it. lol

Yeah same here I found some people even added them on my friends list.

As low as 25, as high as about 60. Usually, though, from 30-45 or so.

Apparently there are ~80 people with Vitas within a 5mi radius of my home. I suppose that's not that bad for a 'struggling' handheld considering I am in a relatively rural area of SE Louisiana...

Near is a really bad social network and doesn't work nearly as well as Nintendo's Streetpass
redrim217  +   530d ago
I've had 3 street passes since launch :( Got 32 people on near as we speak though. Street pass is too narrow. It relies on you both having your systems on with wifi enabled as you walk within each others vicinity. Nears 5 mile radius makes it far more accessible; have got several PSN friends through it too :)
The 3DS just doesn't do it for me anymore. I once blindly hated on the Vita, now however, I love it.

Also just realised that's 32 in a 1.5 km radius :P Honestly doesn't seem as unpopular as it's made out to be! I'm currently living in a pretty middle sized town for uni.

Really? I get like 20-30 people on SP every time I go out, and I have gotten maybe 5 on Near in the lifetime of my Vita. I guess it is just a regional thing.

Yeah, you can get some fun DLC and stuff for games on there for free.

It's always 32. I don't know if I believe that though because then when I look on the map, it's like 10 max.

Supposedly: Those are the ones who have their privacy setting set to make it okay to send location data. The rest of the people you wont see because of their privacy settings.
StockpileTom  +   530d ago
Yeah, it all depends on the privacy settings. There are also some people who share the location data but not their profile. So you will just see the default PSN user icon but can't view their name.

Some people will only share location data when they are traveling but have their home set to a private zone.

What kinda places do you guys live? I get none D: Well, it's a small town
TheLastGuardian  +   530d ago
Everytime I try to use near it says it can't obtain my location data.
