The melee looks amazing in this game. I hope they implement it in KZ4. All of it.

some are complaining about swiping for melee, but they have to remember the Vita doesn't have R2,R3,L2,L3 buttons, so some standard FPS actions will need to go to the touch screen.

@newmonday, ooo I'm going to have to move my finger from the analog stick to the screen - a whopping 5 centimeter length. Big deal, people can't find anything else to complain about so they make this type of shit up. "Omg I have to swipe the screen for melee attacks eff this I'm not buying it".
Kingthrash360  +   661d ago
when dicks cant find something wrong with a game or system they dislike they point out lil bullshit like that. Example " OMG you have to swipe for melee" or " the playstation3 version looks better" ( like its ok to compare a hand held to a home console)...smh
I call it troll searching. Lol

How many times must we go through this NIHILISTIC ONLY HAD 6 months to develop the game compared to how long Sony must have given to Guerrilla Games Cambridge. -_- Blame Sony and Activision for Black Ops Declassified not Nihilistic (Nstigate).

@newmonday

That's wrong. The Triangle button can be used for melee but it would still prompt you to swipe.

Read the preview again. Like the author mentioned, it is redundant.

I for one don't abhor the virtual buttons for grenades and weapon switching. I hope they're moveable like most phablet games.

FUCK YOU NIHILISTIC NSTIGATE I HOPE YOU DIE AND GO TO HELL YOU BASTARDS AND THAT EVERY PERSON WHO HAS NIHILISTIC/NSTIGATE ON THEIR CV'S NEVER GET HIRED BY OTHER DEVELOPERS AND ALL END UP AS BIN MEN CLEANING UP THE COD DECRAPPIFIED CRAP THEY MADE!!!!!!!!

4vs4 with both Declassified and Killzone. That would be fine for a 3rd person shooter but not a FPS. Seems like a missed opportunity imo. Vita is touted as a full console experience in your hands but I still don't see that yet.

They need to revamp the melee, good thing they've got months to polish everything. My gripe with it is that when you do the correct swipe, it doesnt match with the physical result, if you get what i mean. Maybe its just me.
profgerbik  +   661d ago
Depends on the game some swipe actions work perfectly but in UC:GA the last boss battle was annoying, I know what you mean as I kept swiping the correct way and constantly dying anyway.

Read this article and thier comments.... Funny how the comments gradually starts to talk Pokemon and how the vita is dead.... A lotta fanboys comment against the vita on ign.
I mean its a free country and all but this is getting out of hand.
Anyway this is the year vita starts to get people's attention. Huge games like KZ, tearaway,SS, (can continue but too many) are announced before E3. God only knows what will happen at E3 but I don't think Sony gunna make the same mistake as last year with minimal attention to the vita. Nintendo will look swell as well, hopefully they will bring something good this year. Microsoft, I'm kinda worried I know 720 should be announced but what of the 360? Any big games? I hope all is well for the other systems but the vita's gunna have a interesting year, that's for sure.

they need to polish this game more...it still has obvious edges that haters gonna be bashing about...anyways im still excited for my PSvita..
Harkins1721  +   661d ago
No shit....This is still an old build it has 7 months before release. Like so many Ps3 exclusives they have a build for the beat and final version of the game.

Who cares what the haters say; name one fps, no, name one game on a handheld that looks as good as Killzone Mercenaries does on VITA? The game looks better than man fully fledged games on consoles!

Yeah obviously there will be some polishing to do but here's hoping the story, music, gameplay and multiplayer are on par with the visuals. Even at this stage, the game looks incredible.

Bah all these hanheld games do nothing but take away time production and games for real consoles. What a waste. No serious games come from hanhelds.Id rather see them put those resources twords ps3 games or ps4 production

This & soul sacrifice will make me happy alone.. But I got some great ports to look forward to like NGS2+, DOA5+, Muramasa, & then there's tear away, dragons crown, warriors liar, etc.. Yep 2013 will rock! Possible PS4 reveal & release too!

Only 6 maps, 4 on 4, double tap then hold to run, feels heavier than KZ2... Those are not good points any way you look at it.

At least we now know that there is a proper campaign. I feared it was gonna be like Unit 13 given how little they said about it.

And the Contracts mode looks like some kind of challenge mode, maybe with limited mission editor elements. It can't hurt but I hope it's not some throwaway to compensate for a lack of content elsewhere.

I dunno. It should be OK, but from what I'm reading there's a chance that it ends up being a bit of a lesser spinoff like ACIII Liberation, rather than a truly great game.
The jury is out, but coming from an in house studio, I was expecting more. They still have some 6 months before release, but some of the points holding it back seemingly can't be changed at this stage.
