Sony Corp. is planning to unveil its next-generation home videogame console during a February event, showing off a successor to its current PlayStation 3 system.
The Japanese electronics giant Thursday unveiled plans for a special PlayStation-themed event set for Feb. 20, teasing fans to "see the future" at the event. I'm worried, if sony releases another psychotically expensive console that's it for them. Then at the same time if they release a console less powerful than the wii U they that is also it for them. If they find the balance they just might pull it off. But they really gotta innovate to hope to win this one and not make a dreamcast.
You must be living under a rock. People will buy it no matter what price it is. For instance When the Wii U was released people were selling it on ebay for more than double retail price and people still bought it. Even if it is very expensive it will sell very slowly at the start then go down in price and sell more and so the cycle continues over.
Look at the vita, they can't afford to price drop that. There's also the issue SONY has right now with 3rd parties. They've practically lost all 3rd party exclusives. Their 1st party releases have dwindled and reduced in quality. I dunno. Sony is in a bad position right now. If they develop another console full of new proprietary graphics tech that's difficult to develop for like they did with ps3. There aren't enough militant sony fanboys left to support the brand.

I doubt it. Didnt the Sony CEO say they will wait for microsoft to announce the next Xbox first. This could be for something else like a new control device or something
