Yeah I'm sorry, I'm the biggest God Of War fan, but what the hell was that...
Oh, oh... ok just noticed it said Teaser...! so the real commercial the full version hopefully will show game-play and be amazing..
Can't wait to check it out.. I hope it's good because the game looks like it's going to be good... -So it would be nice if they could do a really good commercial for it.
If this is the actual commercial, it's extremely boring and forgettable. Especially during the Super Bowl when every other commercial will be over the top, viral, funny, etc.
Being a teaser though, there's only about 15-20 seconds of actual commerical there, hopefully the other 10-15 seconds helps sell the game and also mentions something about it being on PS3 at the end.
Ads are about $3.5 million per 30 seconds for this year's Super Bowl btw, which is probably about 100,000 GoW: Ascensions sold at full retail $60 after costs. I don't think this teaser as is sells more than 1/5th of that at best.
The ashes of his slain family whome he killed, was imbedded into his skin turning him a pale white and he became known as the Ghost of Sparta.
This looks to be a very emotional game. As the GOW series grew, Kratos had become so overly consumed by rage that he almost forgot where he came from or who he was. I am going to enjoy seeing all this from the beginning.
Plus that trailer.....the elephant...that 300 foot snake, I mean this game is going to be the best looking console game this generation.
I don't get why they spent so much money but show no game play or any sort of in game movie.
You show the name "God of War", people who know the name are already gonna buy it, and will most likely find out about the release date somewhere else.
Show game play or better yet show the in game movies that will wow the people who doesn't know the name in the first place and get their interest to buy the game.
Wish Sony advertisement team would do a better job because they've got a lot of great games/exclusives that people should know about.
Sony spend their money on Making games. Not advertising unfortunately. i'd honestly prefer them to split it on Advertising, they need to get more revenue, in the future it will lead to good for both the gamers and Sony as a business. They could make more games and advertise them all if they got more assets.
They probably got to censor a lot of the trailer. You know if they show some crazy violence you know the media is blaming gaming for everything nowadays.
that's it? seems like pocket change for such an enormous amount of exposure.
I'm not American neither do I watch NFL but I've always been led to believe that Superbowl ad space is one of the most coverted in American media? $4mil/30sec honestly isn't that much.
It also varies. If you want early first quarter its even more, second quarter is a little cheaper, and half time and on is probably the 4 million mark since people start tuning out.
They also own slots directly after the game too, the first break I believe.
It's expensive when you think shows like The Walking Dead with their massive fanbase only sell slots for 400k.
I think in comparison to their main rivals in any one of their divisions, (Microsoft and maybe even Nintendo, in this case), Sony don't do as much as they should.
so yes saying Sony don't advertise a lot is totally unfair because I don't think many companies can keep up with Microsoft's advertising budgets.
People can't complain at Sony now for not advertising. If you want your add to be effective you show it during the Super Bowl. Kudos to Sony for stepping up their game to promote this and money well spent. No doubt this will increase the game sales substantially
how about that little system that they want you to sell to your friends and they have little to non existent current tv ads, i think its called PSvita if im not mistaken.
A psvita entertainment on go tv ad would have been better since God of War will sell anyways, the franchise has a big fanbase so why not put an ad on something that really need it? bad, really bad decision in my opinion.
we are expecting Killzone Mercenary news between today or tomorrow with an official release date why they dont make a super bowl tv ad featuring Sly Cooper, Soul Sacrifice, Killzone Mercenary and Tearaway, entertainment on the go with psvita.
Awesome!!! I actually teared up a bit when I saw this article. I'm serious. I've been pumping this series up on my Facebook page and telling friends about it for years. After all these years of not pumping up exclusives with the exception of the Uncharted series recently, I'm so glad Sony finally took the leap and went on the grand stage with advertising. I couldn't be happier for Sony. Epic move for an epic game!
Oh...now i know why the other teaser was called Game Day 2013...it was referring to the 2013 superbowl. Anyways, its great that they're marketing the hell out of GoW: Ascension but what bout Sly Thieves in Times? Sony, you better not ignore one of favorite franchises!
Nice to see Sony taking another page out of the MS Marketing Manual on how to advertise using live action commercials in order to perpetuate hype.
Live action commercials are so much better then gameplay commercials in my books. It creates a more realistic environment and impression to the consumer. Games are no longer the 8bit storyless hobbies. Now we have great graphics and amazing stories attached to them. We have never been more immersed in gaming and using live action commercials to promote these games generates a greater interest from from consumers.
Why are yall replying to this troll? He just sent me a message telling me Market Share means shipped to consumers and called me ignorant Sony fanboy then blocked me LMAO Just mark as trolling then move on. OT Commercial looks good.Good time to advertise it too
I dont get it Sony is backwards lol They are going all out advertising a game that on its own sells millions without advertising and probably doesn't need that super bowl spot light. They should have saved that money for games that we know are awesome but the average person doesn't know about.
Either way GOW is awesome and of course there are ppl that might not know GOW is coming out soon so hey whatever works, hopefully this equates to more sales but we all know Gow sells irregardless.
I think the general idea is to expose people to the franchise that don't know about it. All those people who already know how great it's going to be, will buy it anyway. These adverts are to sell consoles, not just the game. Sony already have Europe and Japan locked down. The only market they have left to fully infiltrate is America, so this makes perfect sense. With Phil Harrison now in charge of MS in Europe, THAT is the region we'll see battle truly commence with the 720 and the PS4.
Personally on one hand I'm glad Sony is advertising, on the other hand they just blew 4 million dollars on a ad for an audience the game doesn't even target.
Why not get a full PS3 or Vita ad, spin in Madden, or something and advertise that with 4 million dollars? Or take the 4 million dollars and spread out advertising for all their games all year?
It just seems pointless to blow 4 million dollars on a game thats going to sell itself. Especially since if its not funny that 4 million is pointless. If you make a funny Vita ad, it goes viral almost instantly.
I'm not saying this ad will not run during the Super Bowl but it says Feb 1, 2013 at the end of the teaser. The Super Bowl is Feb 3. What am I missing?
I think Sony might be going down the same path as Microsoft in terms of marketing for stupid Americans (ie: They don't want to see gameplay. The want to see "cool" pre-rendered/live action smut).

It is Gow after all one of the biggest Sony games of all time. I expect nothing less when it comes to exposure.
Sony realizes you have to spend money to make money and what a way to do it around a time where people actually LIKE commercials lol.
It's genius.

Exactly, they need to show actual gameplay.

I get a very Russell-Crowe-Gladiator-type vibe watching this teaser(which is a good thing!).
I didn't realize that an Einstein convention was visiting N4G. Come on now, people.

Sony should've snuck in a Vita ad.

Football fans...instant God of War fans.
Tailgaters...Vita...not so much.
This is one of the few games that could catch a football fans attention. It's like the "300" of video games.

Implying Sony has never done live action commercials since the PS1 days.
This must be your first generation of gaming.
and yeah who would want to see the real gameplay for the game he's buying when he can watch real life commercial /s
good thing though we all know already how incredible GOWA look
the best looking game on consoles...well untill the last of us/beyond arrive
He just sent me a message telling me Market Share means shipped to consumers and called me ignorant Sony fanboy then blocked me
