good for a few gaming session and turn off to collect duest. Turn back on to show off when friends come over. Just like every others gimmick add on out there.

The snow and star effects look pretty cool. IF they pull this off like the video presents, I'm on board.
Wii U pad, Xbox IllumiRoom, PS4K. . .looks like a every console maker is doing something to set their console apart from the rest. Great for diversity, terrible for my wallet cause I want them all!

I think it looks like it could be something cool, I mean it does look immersive as hell, but looks a bit distracting too. At least you don't have to wear glasses like with 3-D though, which immersed you as well, but the glasses quickly took you out of that feel.

I'll be skeptical until I can try it out for myself, but it does look interesting, fresh, new and promising.

Wonder if it would work for movies....maybe it could be in movie theaters

Just imagine the whole room moving in a FPS game. Motion Sickness... Anyone?

After EyeToy, Kinect and Wonderbook, I am getting fed up of these fads. This technology looks totally uninteresting to me and will only be used for the next Dance Central for disco lights.

This will eventually catch on, just like 4k TVs

This falls in line with one of those widgets and gadgets you go COOL AMAZING the first time then after 5 min never use it again.

I have no interest in using this at all.

Would you have to play with the lights off all the time?
grayfoxx881  +   1122d ago
I've watched this video four or five times now and I still don't know how I feel about this. Many of the posts from different sites were fairly positive, but I don't know if this is practical. Maybe for smaller T.V.s, but I've got a 50 inch plasma and I don't even think I'd be looking at the laser light show causing my cats to have seizures. Seems like a petty novelty that will be forgotten in a year.

Okay so if it projects onto your walls, How about in daylight, does your room have to be dark. I mean is this something that can be done in normal lighting. Not everyone wants to play games in the dark all of the time. It looks cool, but come on. At one point in time in the Video I thought the lights were on, they were not though.

Gimmicky. Cool. But Gimmicky.
cyclindk  +   1122d ago
Way to innovate.

Now if it were built-in to a console and you placed the whole rig in one place that would be best. As of now though it's getting a bit, peripherally crowded device-wise I think... you'd have your console, then your Kinect (okay integrated in the future) then your Illumiwhatever.

I know it's sort of the only way to do it, but it really starts to gear your setup toward a more tech-savy crowd than the Kinect was intended for... IDK.

Love the concept, but question whether it can be marketed to succeed.
cyclindk  +   1122d ago
I might add, that this DOES succeed in a way that 3D couldn't, due to the glasses, cost, et cetera, but similarly achieves another level of immersion, if only a mostly passive way.

If priced correctly I would imagine this could bstt 3D tech in both cost feasibility and convenience (not to mention, I'd imagine, nowhere near the performance hit 3D has on games).

A great concept but i wouldn't get my hopes up for it to shine in the next genereation or at least 5 years and probably even more.

Just remember the first Kinect proof-of-concept/promo videos that looked realy awesome and compare it with the released product which was garbage...
th3n00bg4m3r  +   1122d ago
Amazing, but I don't want to see it fail just like Kinect.

I had to log in just to comment on this one! I love new ideas, however this again falls way short of providing a more engaging experience. While watching that video I was more distracted by the disproportionate spread of wild light around the room. Brilliant marketing will make this a winner, and yes, another connect peripheral providing something other than what's promised. These companies are so detached from reality (excuse the pun) that they refuse to focus on games. Buzz words like 'immersion' and 'feel' are used in games quite regularly to show you have a cutting edge handle on the industry. Xbox fanboys will support this, Ps fanboys will giggle, at the end of it all the gamers lose out. All that R&D dollars should have been spent somewhere else, like true VR aka oculus rift. I'm terribly disappointed and strongly feel that MS is ruining games as it was intended. We are too engrossed in waiting and not involved enough in getting our voices heard by the powers that be. Gaming journos always offer these strange opinions that seem so irregular and non representative of the gaming populace (as gleaned from these forums) that it only serves to make matters worse. So MS, you want me to jump around in front of kinect with a room full of wild lights? I'd rather go to the disco down the road thank you.
steve30x  +   1122d ago
This is kind of cool but if its like having a projector doing that then the room will need to be dark to have the full effect. Its kind of 3D without the glasses or headaches.
Rhythmattic  +   1122d ago
Why the F*^k bother with this crap...

As a gamer, give me VR glasses like the Oculus Rift with complete peripheral vision, and its done.
AWBrawler  +   1121d ago
I think its pointless and a waste, but watch it catch on in America. we love stupid stuff.
LoveSpuds  +   1121d ago
I never get too carried away with proof of concept stuff, especially from M$.

For me the Kinect still has yet to achieve any of the concept guff that was promised - the Kinect is shit for proper gaming.

This does look cool, but I will wait and see after getting burned with the Kinect.

Give me a 1080P VR headset with 5.1 surround and I'll enjoy that better than this. I'd live to play skyrim in a full HD VR setting.
Phoenix76  +   1121d ago
seems like a lot of ppl here are jumping to overhype here.
As many have pointed out (but a lot of others dont see it) this is a concept video and in no way what-so-ever implys that this will be what you get or even if it will even be released.
PPL pls remember the term concept gets used a hell of a lot, for example (gonna get trolled here no doubt) Honda announce a new concept car that they want to show of a the latest car show...... but how many concept cars actually do get put in to full production???
Just an example, dont belive the hype until you can physically see with your own eyes the final product in action at your local retailer.
