"In the movie, you can find that the next-generation console branded Sony and Microsoft will be equipped with Eyefinity technology"

Just like current consoles claim to do 3D yet fail at it. You pretty much require a high end PC with multi GPUs to run games in Eyefinity or Surround. The resolutions are something like 5760*1080 (its 3 times higher than 1920*1080).

Next consoles will probably be running the best looking games in 720p (since the graphics bar will be raised again), 1080p will happen on the lesser games. Any console maker trying to promote Eyefinity will be making a fool out of its customers as no console will be able to run games at those resolutions unless the game looks like a PS2 game or they intend to show a slide show.

it would be a waste of money to put the extra connections on the back of consoles too.

@GameOn

You haven't lived until you've gamed on three monitor setup.

If they'll let me hook up a couple of these to the PS4 I'll be in gamer heaven! Oh please oh please god make this happen. lol

Multi-screen gaming can be pretty awesome if implemented right. However, it's not really practical for the living room.

I have the capability on my pc for 3 screens but I dont have the space or money. would be nice though.

I don't usually reply to someone on N4G, but since your don't really know what the hell you are talking about i wanted to say, if you don't know what the hell you're talking about please don't.

And what's really alarming is how many people agreed with his nonsense. Truly doesn't have a clue on the subject.

OT: Next gen talk is nothing short of exciting, but I really want to see what the games look like. I imagine E3 supplying that.

Of course it has it. The PC has had eyefinity for how long now? 2 or 3 years? ALL the current AMD video cards support it and since the new consoles have AMD video cards they will of course support it as well.

But don't expect it to be much. It takes a LOT of power to run 3 monitors. And the consoles will not have that sort of power.

There is a slight chance that they will make it easier to connect 3 720s/ps4 tho run games with 3 screens like some games already but other than that it will never happen.

To me I thought the article was pointing out the capabilities of the processor that will be used not necessarily the technology. Also the Gaming devices comment was broad in the fact it could mean anything.

'Next consoles will probably be running the best looking games in 720p (since the graphics bar will be raised again), 1080p will happen on the lesser games.'

So your expecting a PS3.5 and Xbox 540?
Way to raise the bar

I hope both of the console will use the same family of video card and close specs..so the competition will be depending on the IP itself.

Makes sense. Having proprietary hardware surely hinders a company to get that huge market share pie. There is alot of pie they just gotta do the right thing, and thats stop talking about 10 year life cycles, and start catching up to the standard technology that's out. Android and Apple have proved this time and time again.
aquamala  +   621d ago
Eyefinity works on pc because people can have 3 monitors on a desk, and thats useful outside of gaming, who the hell has 3 TVs next to each other?
Boody-Bandit  +   621d ago
See my post above.
It's a niche gaming audience but more than you think.
Especially for hardcore racing fans.

I know this is off topic, but since we are discussing the processors used. Since Sony will be using the AMD implementation of combining AMD's A8-3850 APU and an HD 7670 GPU...how does this make the system weak. The A8 combo has an implied processor and GPU that can run on its own and with the addition of the separate GPU, wouldn't it make it a very powerful system?
