I agree with Sound Shapes, I downloaded it and go back to it every once in a while. I enjoy the music (instrumentals) in that game and it is a great platforming game. SS is one of the few games that put two different genres together, and do it so well. The best way to play is with Headphones, on a Vita. IMO
David's taste in games is pretty unique and gives a great example of the type of guy he really is. David Jaffe seems like a cool guy and it seems that he doesn't have any bad blood with Sony and I'm happy he pointed out that he is not working on a handheld title or a big fan of them, so no one can jump and say he is working on a handheld title. I would like to know what game he is working on with Jenova Chen or if they still are doing a game together.
He plays everything, enjoys every console and that is the type of developer we need in this industry. Oh, and his daughter is so funny; walking in the room and asking who is GiantBomb. Favorite game Minecraft, not Twisted Metal. Priceless.
Someone actually reported my comment because I listed what the games were. So beware when giving out details to any article, being helpful doesn't pay here.
@Ultr The only reason people take statements like "Game x is the best game ever" as a statement of fact, is because they're too willing to be offended by it. Which is one major reason why you're bound to see less outrage if people actually like Game x.
Nor does "Black Ops 2 is the best" = "Black Ops 2 is the best for everyone". The only fair assumption to make is that it's the author's personal opinion, and not an attemt at being objective. I mean, does anyone actually use an objective standard when they determine what games are best? No. Hence, it's likely an opinion, and if the readers have some processing skills they'll pick up on that without the need for "IMO"
Indeed. Some comments say things like "I agree." Some comments express disagreement.
I have a general disagreement with the need for this post and I think it is stupid.
You have a general disagreement with my post and presumably think it is stupid.
In Western society, we generally call this a "conversation." In it, various outlooks are expressed, not all of them uniform, though it is not uncommon for two people to have similar views. It is unreasonable, however, to expect all participants to have the same views, and thus, "conversation" as it were, continues.
But this isn't about me. It's about Jaffe's favorite games. I have stated that I do not see the point of this.
What is your opinion? You have stated none. You have only harassed me about mine. If this is the proper implementation of conversation that you spoke of and seem to know so much about, then it seems I do indeed have a lot to learn. So teach me.
Because he's a game developer that a lot of people respect, and as such, his opinions have some merit to those people. As such, posting his list of favorite games starts a conversation among the community about said games, thus a conversation is born, and thus people come out pretending to want a conversation, yet offer nothing to it.
I'd rather see his list, than any of the randomly created user sites that get posted every day. Particularly since the games he likes may influence the games he makes.
This. People can say whatever they want about him but at the end of the day Jaffe is a developer who's been in the industry for years and knows what he's talking about.
My personal top 10 (no real order) 10. Journey 9. The Walking Dead 8. Starhawk (Most under rated game in a long time imo) 7. Spec Ops: The Line (my favorite story of the year, sorry Walking Dead) 6. Hitman: Absolution 5. Borderlands 2 4. Mass Effect 3 (would be number 1 hands down if the ending wasn't the worst ending I've seen in years.) 3. Farcry 3 2. Playstation AllStars Battle Royale 1. Pokemon Black/White 2
If I would have to make one game "GOTY" it would have to be Spec Ops: The Line. When I first started playing, I thought it was another bro shooter that I would forget about in a few days. Especially because Nolan North was voicing the main character. Once I saw that ending, then played it through again, it really is a beautifully done game, showing a unique side of war. Sure, some games try to make war look dark and grim, but this is the first game that I have played to actually make me question my own actions.
In no particular order (And I don't have 10 [or 12]):
Journey Okami HD Final Fantasy XIII-2 Dear Esther Assassin's Creed III Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance Tombi (The psone classics Monkey-paw re-release ofc)
And I'm reserving spots for Thirty Flights of Loving and Virtue's Last Reward.
Persona 4 Golden should probably be on there, but I haven't actually played the original Persona 4 yet. I bought it for my Ps2 early last year not anticipating the re-release.

That's weak they reported you detailing the list. I don't want to click it at the moment want to read what the list was.
People do it ALL the time for articles and vids they hate on, why would this be any different.
Shame for the clear double standard.
Evil
It happens EVERY time. I try to get people to dish out bubbles for being helpful in such situations.
Honestly, though, I don't know if it's some troll actually reporting people, or whether it's the mods, themselves, for some reason.
In any case, it seems like it's not rewarded. And since it's marked as spam, it's not even visible. It'd almost be better to be marked for trolling.
Very close minded people on this website I tell you.
"Black Ops 2 was hand down the best game of this console generation. "
this is what you say when it's a fact.
he should have said.
"FOR ME Blops2 is hands down the best game of this console generation."
THIS, I respect

Always good to hear Jaffe's top 10 of the year. The man doesn't suger-coat his thoughts. Always honest, always interesting.

"Why should I care," comes off as juvenile and inept.
If you are, in fact, a ten year old child, please carry on.
