In other news - analysts analyze analysis. I wonder how much personal stock any major companies actually put into people like Pachter. He just seems irrelevant.
playnextgames  +   1156d ago
I want more analyst talk. It will be good for my podcast. Pachter is the biggest goofball and my number one entertainment clown.

who bought the wii-u at launch are lucky to break even when selling the unit on places like craig list.

The average price i see is $380 for the deluxe and $325 for the basic. Nowhere near the crazy amounts profiteers were getting for the wii when it launched or the ps3/360 back in the day.

While the wii-u isnt sold out everywhere, it is sold out in places. Not to mention that the deluxe model is harder to find but the basic is more common.

Again, this is incorrect as it's not even sold out now.

Just like the 360 and PS3 when they launched.

I found mine 3 days and 5 days after xmas *in that order*, respectively.

There were actual murders for ps3 when it launched as well it being sold for over $1000 on eBay when it launched it was pandemonium when ps3 launched it was a big deal in 06
darthv72  +   1156d ago
sold out....
does not mean everywhere but there are some places that dont have them. So it is partially correct depending on where you are.

Now, the other day I was at walmart and they had the 8gb units. i got to talking with a couple of the employees and was telling them about how it can play all existing wii games and use all existing wii accessories and they didnt even know that.

Most of the problems with retail is the lack of information even on the most basic of levels. A game store would obviously be more up to date with the products they are selling. A place like target, walmart or other retail chains....not so much.

they may have a few people here and there that know this stuff but when you talk to reps in those departments and they dont know...houston, we have a problem.

nintendo has a big marketing angle they can push but it takes the cooperation of the retail employees to help make it happen. Basically all they have to do is tell the customers that all the games they see that are wii games can also be played on the wii-u.

It effectively adds another 200+ retail titles to the library of games the wii-u can play. We know that the sales of the wii have dropped considerably. So why not take that opportunity to convince those who bought the wii into getting the wii-u? I mean it was certainly a selling point for sony with the ps2 and being able to play the hundreds of ps1 games.

The wii-u is the more ideal seller than the wii if it is promoted as able to play wii and wii-u games. Just like the 3ds is the more ideal seller than the ds because it plays ds and 3ds games.

I got a WiiU and I rather enjoy it, I did a crazy thing and got it because I wanted to play Nintendo games in high def. I'm guessing that is what other people are going to do as well.
Wolfbiker  +   1156d ago
Seriously.... does anyone care?
delboy  +   1156d ago
But but Nintendo is doomed,lol
Nintendo will never ever go bankrupt,or go to software only.
They have great games and huge and loyal fan base, which will buy N games and N Consoles, till the end of time.
TheUndertaker85  +   1156d ago
Sega fans said the same thing back in the day. We all know how that went.
PopRocks359  +   1156d ago
The difference there is Nintendo never released a failure platform aside from the Virtual Boy. You can't really argue that they don't see a market in releasing hardware because their hardware almost always makes a profit.
TheUndertaker85  +   1156d ago
@PopRocks359: And again I state, Sega fans said the same thing back in the day

I'm sure Atari felt much the same way.

You can't argue that Nintendo will always be successful because they were in the past.

Banks can go bankrupt. Governments can go bankrupt. Nintendo isn't an exception just because it's Nintendo.

Bigkurz85  +   1156d ago
You can find Wii U's just about everywhere right now in America. Gamestop has cleared waiting lists. Best Buy was stacked high.
joeyisback  +   1156d ago
Walmart where im at and another town next to my has the white wii u in stock and 2 black wii u in stock gamestop here has some left so it isn't sold out everywhere
WeAreLegion  +   1156d ago
It's not selling out. It's selling well, but you can find them in any store.
metroidfusion2  +   1156d ago
I saw 2 deluxe and 1 basic at best buy yesterday and they didn't have a wii u demo kiosk which is sad but I can go to gamestop to try it out but don't feel like it and I have been doing research on the console for several months and will keep doing research

people like Pachter are a problem for the industry. Sure I understand his job is to guide investors on what are good places to place their money, but it also produces the mindset of if its not COD its going to lose money. Analyst for whatever reason have no vision of the future they only know what has worked in the past. That's why there are so many sequels.
Nintendo will always be a company that will baffle analyst because they are not conventional and they create their own market.
Spacemagic  +   1156d ago
Yeah, there's a ton of them around here. Ps3, xbox, and wii all got such great deals last year, what parent is gonna go "yeah lemme spend $350 on a new system when i just got you one last xmas" wiiU will be fine, but it's not gonna blow up like the wii.
FinalomegaS  +   1156d ago
what does the term sold out mean to people?

IMO it means harder find (limited quantity), and not every single area has the same consumer purchasing penetration.
Bigkurz85  +   1156d ago
The Wii was "sold out." The Wii U is not. You can get a Wii U on ebay for *almost* retail without much of a mark up. That's all the indicator you need.
Bigkurz85  +   1156d ago
Question: Why is the ONLY playable kiosk demo a game that isn't out yet? (Rayman) Has anyone come across another demo unit with something else playable?
delboy  +   1156d ago
But Banks and Governments don't have Mario & Co.
Nintedo sold more Mario games then Beatles slod records.
N will never go bankrupt, get this in your head haters.
