If ME3 is in the running then the category should be ignored this year.

If only because it was more a shooter than RPG.

Well, Diablo3 won it. Doesn't say much, does it? What good RPG's have been released this year? As an outsider of the series I don't see why ME3 is so hated. I guy I know loved it and he is a huge fan of the series.

Does an outsider ever understand anything going on the inside of things?

That's what I'm saying 1)There wasn't much offered in the category which wasn't arguably great or even good, and 2)If your friend is into for the multplayer then you're both likely missing the point.

It was more of an RPG than ME2 was and it was pretty close to 1 (minus planetary exploration). Just cause the shooting doesn't feel clunky doesn't mean it's not an RPG.

More of an RPG than ME2? I disagree with that statement. You barely get to choose dialogue in ME3. And if you can't even perform basic functions such as controlling what the character you are trying to roleplay is going to say it is not much of a roleplaying game.

You still get to choose the dialogue that matters. The fact that Shepard says yes on his own when we used to have a choice between "I agree", "I guess", and "If I have to" doesn't change much if anything to the roleplay experience. To me anyway.
When it comes to dialogue, the only thing that was missing imo was the opportunity to ask questions about the lore like in me1, though maybe it was possible for people who didn't import a save from the previous games.

What I had in mind when I said it was more of an RPG than ME2 was the improved leveling system, the gear, the mods... which were closer to what you could find in ME1.
