Why is this 360 tagged? Sony owns the DARK SOUL IP so no way in hell its coming to the Xbox.
Edit: My bad, yes I was thinking about Demon Souls...have not played Dark Souls 1 yet but from what I heard its just as good if not better that Demon Soul...can someone confirm this?
@ Alpha - Yes I really hope we see another Demon Souls game but not sure if its going to be the same with out the same developers.
Sony should give it to Santa Monica studio, those guys would do the game justice.
"I heard its just as good if not better that Demon Soul...can someone confirm this?"
Both are great games. Both are similar, and have their positives.
I personally like Demon's Souls better for the atmosphere, level design, story behind each arch stone, and better stat-scaling and online.
Now Dark Souls has levels that interconnect in a Metroid / Symphony of the Night kind of way, more armor / weapon upgrade paths, and Estus Flasks to eliminate near infinite herb-munching healing.
Dark Souls also added the bonfire checkpoint system, which some say makes the game easier. I don't think so though.
When people talk of restarting the whole level upon death in Demon's Souls, it seems that they forget the shortcuts that can be opened along the way to bypass most if not all of the levels' dangers. You can actually hop out of the Nexus and be at the bosses door in a couple of minutes or less.
I also feel that Dark Souls almost tries to push you into close combat with bosses. It's either close quarters, multiple boss enemies, the boss will rush you down, or the safest place to be is right next to the boss where it will whiff most of it's attacks or do very little damage if managing to hit (other than that one telegraphed grab / aeo / super move each has).
You really do need to learn to shoot / cast on the move.
But then again, a bow user with poison arrows can trivialize a few of the most frustrating areas, like Sen's Fortress. Snipe ahead and simply concentrate on traps at your leisure.
Eh, I can go on. I really like the games. They both have their nuances, but if you had fun with Dark Souls, you'll most-likely have fun with Demon's Souls.
Demon's Souls and Dark Souls were unquestionably my game of the years for 2009 and 2011! Best DLC for 2012 too!
Badass cinema scenes here! I wonder who these new masked enemies are and how they fit into the lore.
It looks as though there might be some sort of new trading system beyond dropping things on the ground with they way they make a point of showing the one character pass off the feather to another.
sorry but i loved demons souls as much as the next guy but dark souls truly delivered and surpassed its predeccesor. either way im stoked there will be a sequel, from software have created my best gaming experience this gen and needless to say day 1!
While I did marginally prefer Demon's Souls, to say Dark Souls was shit is just stupid. Those games are 1st and 2nd on my favorite games of the generation list. You're probably the type of person who says jaggies make your "eyeballs bleed" or that one version of a multiplat "destroys" another because of some small difference. This announcement is the best gaming news I've heard all year.
Why is he a fanboy? I enjoyed Demon's Souls and Dark Souls both, but I still think Demon's Souls was the better game.
The two titles are very much alike, sure. But there's something about Demon's Souls' story and locations that stand out to me. It seemed much more inspired to me. To each his own, though.
Demon's Souls being a PS3 exclusive has nothing to do with it either. I'm a PS3/PC gamer and I think BioShock / Demon's Souls are the best games of the generation. BioShock was released on the PS3 after the 360 and PC releases, mind you.
You need to stop throwing the fanboy term around like a kid and actually accept the fact that some people prefer different things. Shocking, I know.
AWESOOOOMMMEEE!!! Judging by the trailer the dragons will have more presence this time. I'm also thinking the masked enemies have more about them. I'm thinking masks will play a role in this game: probably for online invasion, pvp, coop and stuff like that?
Not really, they didn't have experience with PC and the frame rate lock was justified because the animations were made for 30 fps. I'm pretty sure they'll make a good PC version, I would prefer 1080p with locked 30 fps rather than sub hd with unstable framerate which was fatal for my ps3 playthrough since I died some times because of the lag. Dark souls is worth playing at 30 fps.
Guessing they're going with the kindle fire ending from dark souls AKA do exactly what the gods wanted and stop the age of Humanity. Dark souls was my fav game last yr and totally surprised by this announcement. Can't wait
BADAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSS. Loved Dark Souls. One of my favorite this generation alongside Demon's Souls and 3D Dot Game Heroes. I hope this game will be harder than the first but if not then at least don't make it easier.
WHO THE, WHAT THE,.. WHEN THE, HOW THE, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FFUUCCKK YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Epic trailer
*Praises The Sun*
Cant wait for more wandering in Dark Souls 2!

@Mike
Yes, I'm sure it will be on all the current gen systems.
ZING.
Only thing i didnt like that From Software did was the downgrade of AC4A to AC5.

@Neckbear: You beat me too it haha
Sony is missing out
I don't care, but I would think Sony would.

Bring it on. I am going to die SO MANY TIMES! <3
edit: I was intnending for that to be a good thing XD
Couldn't care less about the Dark Souls as that was shit compared to Demon's Souls.
What's with all of the good IPs dying out this gen?
prepare to die.... again!
Dark Souls is a damn fine game though and I really enjoyed it so I'm excited to see what improvements the sequel will bring.
UMADBRO? U mad that that a Sony exclusive evolved into something better and went multiplat? Umadbro?
