Exacly what i was thinking.
Why would you need this at home?

will next Wiiu commercial will be about 4 teenagers in a big living room (as in pretty much all Nintendo commericals), all playing Google Street View?

Is obvious you don't have a Wii u.
WrAiTh Sp3cTr3  +   996d ago
I could use it along with the screenshot capability and make some Far Cry maps using it as reference. But that type of stuff flies over the head of the average n4g member.

Another app I will only be using on my computer not my console
dboyc310  +   996d ago
Do people still use it in the computer? Figured most will use their phones. On topic though what's the point of it if the console doesn't follow you once you leave the house haha

If they added a feature that could transfer map data over to your phone from the wii u, it could be a very good way to plan trips. Other than that it's nice that even google is supporting the wii u apps, but not exactly practical.
DoomeDx  +   996d ago
I think 98% of the people that own a Wiiu, also own a Laptop or PC. Which (i think) is more usefull then this.
Yodagamer  +   996d ago
Well it'd be nice to have it on the big screen and then like the video in this article you could map it out on the touch screen while looking at google streets to see the sights on your hdtv. It's almost perfect for planing trips.

Yes we all have it but not like how they have done it for Nintendo. novelty but if it's free I would not complain.
strigoi814  +   996d ago
Yah right..who needs a google map on a home console?? Oh my goodness thats the best you can tease me to jump to a wii U ??? Really??
seamonkey420  +   996d ago
waaaaa. that is all i hear from you gamers these days. seriously, this is cool and nice to have to help plan a family outing or vacation. yea, we all have it on our phones.. well, almost all of us minus the iPhone iOS 6 users. ;)
RuperttheBear  +   996d ago
An added little bonus, and people here are moaning about it. It's not paid for, it's not supposed to be something that sells the system. It's funny the things people complain about.
punisher99  +   996d ago
Reminds me of 2006 all over again when the PS3 came out and had a web browser. People were moaning and complaining how useless it was because everyone supposedly has a pc. Wii U owners, get used to the moaning because there will probably be more in the future.

Is obvious intended for viewing places most people will never visit
Heavenly King  +   996d ago
What is the point on having this on a console? On the 3DS it could have made sense but for the WiiU not really.
Drainage  +   996d ago
