Would like to see less images of people displaying poor weapon handling. Finger needs to be in the register position not on the trigger.

DEATHxTHExKIDx  +   638d ago
so many complainers the game is what matters.
perfectCarbonara  +   638d ago
I hate when people bitch and moan about people complaining about the cover. Nobody is saying they won't buy the game because of the cover, thats not the debate here.

We're discussing the quality of this specific cover not whether or not we'll still play the game because or in spite of it. Stay on subject please. If it's a bad cover you can agree or disagree but don't kill the discussion with "LOL who cares about the cover, the game will kick ass"

Did the ending of Mass Effect 3 affect the overall gameplay that preceded it. No
Would the new look of Cole Mcgrath really have had an impact on the gameplay ? No

But we still have the right to complain and call out the devs for it. Has nothing to do with our enjoyment of the game. It's easy to say "Don't judge a book by it's cover" and no one is doing that here. But can we still judge a cover by it's cover ?

And besides, who doesn't want a good book to have a good cover, it's just icing on the cake.

It doesn't matter because I am still getting the game and it doesn't influence my purchase decision anywhere close to gameplay videos do..

Don't judge a game over a cover, just whine about it.

In all seriousness, most people DONT CARE ABOUT BOX ART WORK. THey just make sure that the name of a game the want matches the name of the game on the box and hey are good to go.
noorbert  +   638d ago
Box art are not picked just by random. They of course had several versions and showed it to multiple people, thats how you got winning cover, which makes random people most interested in the game. You seriously think box art is picked just by taste or one person or what ? They got cover which they know will sell most well with people unfamiliar with the game based on data.
DarkRenzokuken  +   638d ago
Why does anyone care about the box art? You'll look at it for five seconds and then it will go on your shelve because you will be too busy playing the game to give two shits about the box art.
blue_flowers  +   638d ago
the box art just screams. "hey buy me frat boy" seriously would it kill the gaming industry to start using some less cheesy looking heros instead of the stereotypical white, crew cut, male..its getting beyond old.

Oh brother. The new school kids of today and their entitlement. First they don't like the way a game ends... now they don't like the covers of a game. Boo hoo. You're not playing the cover.

How does the cover of all those digital games you guys buy and play look?

BOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO! The cover doesn't tell me a story about the game.

How ridiculous.

Who gives a fuck about the boxart, even if there was a shaven monkey butt on the front i would still get it
DarthJay  +   638d ago
I actually like it... oh well.
ALLWRONG  +   638d ago
Looks like the cover of a romance novel.

Why is everyone suddenly a box art expert?
fr00ty-wizenhymer  +   638d ago
It's awful cover art, but it hardly matters. I do wish games went more out of their way to make unique covers, or even accurate covers, like the music industry does. Cover art is an art of its own, why waste it?
KidCuDiWINS  +   638d ago
Don't care about some generic dude on the cover, as long as it comes with Bioshock 1 and has Move support I'm sold.
ChiTownDoc  +   638d ago
Damn. I thought the game looked great, but now that the cover sucks I don't even want it anymore. Geez what were they thinking? /s

so dumb. dont give this site clicks.
taquito  +   638d ago
ohhh no, a white guy on the cover with a gun.....lol....everything in this country that you have and hold dear to you is because of white guys with guns, everything

every freedom, invention, machine

thank white guys with guns!

I like the art in the thumbnail muuuch better, looks a lot more retro

People sometimes get far too precious about the idea that having a literal representation of part of the gameplay on the cover is somehow not worthy.

Fans of Bioshock already know what kind of details to expect so don't be too worried about a games cover seeming to paint its game in a broader brush if it ends up giving the game more sales.

The Resident Evil 4 example always strikes me as ludicrous. I much prefer the American art on that.
Having a bloodied cover with a man carrying a chainsaw pensively waiting is not synomous with Francis Bacon-like artistry. All it does is give a misleading veneer of quiet reflection to a game that actually, more often that not, has you constantly moving on, and not just from the chainsaw man either. Chainsaw man is not even a boss. He's certainly always a frightening adversary but it's not 'Resident Evil 4: The Chainsaw Massacre Nemesis'. Your nemesis in that game is a load of different boss battles and being overpowered by the potential viciousness of even minor enemies and sometimes by their numbers.

Put the concentration on moody character looks down to Max Payne 3 and Uncharted 2 and 3's critical successes maybe.
He's still broadly in period and quite well turned out - he's not just wearing a vest.

Just shows the power the marketing people have. I'm not sure that Ken Levine would want this box art for his game but he probably would want the most people to play it.

in 30 years of gaming I have never bought a game based on its cover art. Its fun to look at and talk about but I base my gaming purchases mostly on game quality from reviews and friends opinons on the games that have played them.

Cover just doesnt matter
Picnic  +   637d ago
The suggested idea ('This is more like it') would have looked good for something like Fallout 3 in 2008 but, despite it perhaps being broadly true to period, it still looks a bit 1930s/1940s for Bioshock Infinite.

It would also have a lot more text than Bioshock covers have gone for. It's good in an alternative 1992 graphic adventure kind of way but probably more appropriate, if they wanted it, as a comic book insert inside the game box (like Perfect Dark Zero did) or as the cover for a special edition.
