And how do you know exactly what it is? Do you have any other concrete info you'd like to share with us? Other than it's "apparently" on the scale of Gears and Halo, we know absolutely nothing about it.
Expect anything that caters to the unintelligent shooter crazed fans, whether it is some scifi crap, or old western junk, it's gonnna be far from original, oh and they're gonna market the crap out of it.
People complain that Microsoft doesn't work on new IP's, then they complain about the type of new IP's they do work on. Once again I say that this generation will only be remembered for complainers that are never happy.
There are tons of different genres this generation, if you didn't find what you like, you obviously didn't look hard enough.
Also, they said they want to make their "Halo or Gears", it doesn't mean its a sci-fi shooter per say. I'd wait to see what its all about before jumping to conclusions.
At least a new IP. I hope we'll see even more when the next gen comes. It's not just about time for new platforms, but also new creativity in new franchises.
I think sony fans are complaining cause MS is delevering what sony can't a game that can compete with gears or halo, remember when killzone was suppose to be a halo killer how did that work out. O I know the sequel actually sold less, This game won't be a halo killer but knowing microsoft they will make sure it is as big. You sony fans need to stop with your double standards you praise any thing sony does, but no matter what MS does you will find something to biotch about.

Halo & gear Wow. The only two exclusives that sell on your console. What about an exclusive like alan wake & crackdown. Or banjo & metro 2033. Or dead rising & splinter cell
Is it really a surprise that ms leads the charge to there new console with a shooter. It would be insane for them to choose a fringe genre, currently shooters are king or haven't you all heard of cod and bf, halo and gears, kz and res, or bl fallout mass and all the other semi shooter games out there, it may be a saturated market but when such a market still sells out, again and again, as a company how would you choose to represent the next step in gaming; with a giant leap? Nope that would be awesome, but that's just fantasy talk, with millions on the line a safe bet is all that can be expected. Alright, I play all systems, so I'm in no way a fanboy. I play PC and Xbox 360 much more than PS3, but I have to state that PS3 has much better and varied exclusives.
Xbox exclusives are pretty much all shooters (I'm sure there are a couple that aren't, but I can't think of any).
PS3 has more variety though :/ RPG, Platfomer, Shooter, what have you Not to mention it has Demons Souls. DEMONS SOULS! <3
Console of choice is ps3. But, I do love me some halo. I do hope MS takes more chances next gen a la fable etc. If they do, that console will be sitting pretty with my PS4.

Im going PS4 first between the 2 of them (more variety in their game library)... it'll look nice next to the Wii U my girlfriend got us!
