X360 launched first so it is the base platform for every multiplatform game that gets ported. That is just how the game works. PS2 era when the PS2 launched first every game got ported from PS2 up to other consoles.
Although if rumors are true next time around all x86 design for both consoles would make porting issues vaporize. So we won't see as many issues and patches as the transition from PC, PS4, XB3 should be effortless. WiiU is the only one with RISC tech so it will require a shift, but that is only if rumors are true of x86 in next consoles. Could just be PS4 with x86. If so it would still favor developers and could convince them to develop on PS4/PC first even if launching later than XB3.
LOL I can't believe that people are still blaming the developers for the problems on ps3. wow. after 5 years I'm pretty sure that multi-million dollar world class developers know what they're doing. Divided RAM and the RSX are the problems here. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my ps3 and my xbox, playing the hound out of GT5 right now (which is absolutely amazing BTW) but that's a game made exclusively for the ps3 and can't be compared to another system. I usually play all my multi console stuff on my xbox and the exclusive stuff on my ps3. But really i think it's high time that people stop blaming the developers for the ps3 problems and just get on with it.

Final Fantasy XIII proved that Third Party Devs can easily make stunning visuals on PS3, visuals that were held back by the 360 nd Square's laziness the second time around. Also, the game's were bad for FF games. But that's unrelated.

Portal 2, LA Noire, Saints Row 3, Just Cause 2, Tomb Raider Underworld, AC Revelations, BF3, Hitman Absolution...it's not just FF13. All the above have better something-or-others on the PS3 side as per digital foundry or LOT, be it tearing, frames, bloom, native res', whatever.

TBH they don't suck I have never had a problem with 3rd party games. However saying that, Call of duty is significantly worse at launch. I wonder why that is? /s
Clearly, not all multi plat games look better or perform better on the 360. The differences are now minimal and close to nothing as opposed to the launch games.

I'm switching full time to Xbox next-gen. Not wasting my time with Sony anymore. They keep making their stuff worse, like recently the disaster of a mess they did with the PS Store.
yeah,playstation is also my choice. i couldn't afford getting x360 this gen at first, then i simply didn't get it because i had too many games to play on ps3 alone anyway...and now, having a baby, there is no time for gaming.not as much as i used to have. probably will get wii when my son gets a bit older, though.
Cool, because I bought a 360 a few years ago due to lack of PS3 exclusives and then sold the 360 this year due to appalling first party support. I won't support a brand that doesn't support games.
All due respect PirateThom, but couldn't you have just played multiplats on your ps3 when there was a lack of exclusives (which sounds like you had a ps3 in '06/07)? Because Then the back end of '08 into '09 happened and it seemed all there was were amazing Sony exclusives... And then in 2012 you finally sell your Xbox, in a year where MS finally gets some first party love (Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Alan Wake expansion, Gears of War 4 announced).

Basically, I bought a 360 for Mass Effect. That game alone was enough to get me to pick up the console. I had pretty much exhausted all the exclusives and multiplats worth playing on PS3 at the time.
I don't consider Microsoft's first party support to be any better this year though, it's just more of the same as the last few years.

To keep it in context, he did say Mass Effect. A lot of the fans of the original Mass Effect were increasingly disappointed in the second and third for different reasons. It is completely possible that he bought the first, loved it, but didn't enjoy the next two.
I used to multiplatform game on ps3 but when i saw black ops 2 and crysis 2 on xbox 360 im now using xbox for 3rd party games and ps3 for infamous games uncharted(as long as theyre better than part 3), god of war and killzones.
Ill also play gears and forza on xbox and try out the good first parties on ps3 like beyond, last of us,....so on.
That's cool. I know three people who swear they'll never buy another MS console after having so many die on them. Comparing XBox's failure rate to 360's, it seems more like MS is the one making things worse, but to each their own.

Quit PS3 after my 2nd YLOD. There have been a couple games I would have liked to play, but I certainly don't miss the console. This gen made me move back to PC gaming.
PS3 really is a third rate multiplat platform. I'm playing Max Payne 3 on my PS 3 right now and the resolution is so low that I literally can't see a damn thing.
Go easy on Bolts, guys. We've all forgotten to plug our TV in before playing a game at some point. Admittedly most of us don't sit there in front of a blank screen for hours bitching about how low the resolution is before we figure out the problem but still, the world needs ditch diggers too.

I had no problem playing Max Payne 3 other than the game being an extremely boring third person shooter. After finishing chapter three(whichever chapter you're at the football field,) I quit the game for good and went back to good third person shooters.
If anyone wants to play a good game that has gameplay similar, but better, than Max Payne 3. Pick up Stranglehold. It's one of the first PS3 games this gen and can be found for dirt cheap(it's also multiconsole.)

Yeah, paid $500 for my PS3 in 2007. YLOD almost exactly 1 year later to the day. Paid Sony $162 for a repair, broke again 9 months later, 2 weeks before Uncharted 2 came out. Mad.
I've never owned a 360, but I did borrow one for about 9 months in 2010 because my friend wasn't using his anymore. The things I played the most on the 360 were multiplats like Mass Effect, Borderlands, and Saints Row 2.
I certainly preferred the PS3 for exclusive titles. I played most of the major 360 exclusives during my time with it and the only one I really liked was Fable 2. If I were to get another console today it would be a PS3 for that reason. PC/PS3 is the way to go, IMO. 360 is very redundant if you already game on PC.

I actually don't mind Xbox360 too much anymore. I used to play it all the time until my PS3 took over. I recently traded in my half working Xbox360 Elite and got an Xbox360 Kinect 4GB bundle for under $100 and I'm having fun with it.
Mind you I only ever plan on playing Blops 2 and Halo 4 on it (and maybe Dance Central 3 here and there). Whereas I play all other third party games on PC (along with exclusives), and I'll continue to play PS3 for it's amazing exclusives and whatever else I get through PS+ and some third parties like DmC, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, etc.
It's good to be a Multiplatform gamer. As for next-gen, I'll be starting with Sony (I don't count my PC, even though it'll probably be better than next-gen consoles). Since they've done nothing but impress me with their games, and dedication to the gamer. Then I'll get Microsoft's nextBox, followed by Nintendo's Wii-U.
My PS3 has served me well as a blu-ray player and an exclusives platform, for things like Uncharted and Killzone. So I'm glad I bought it even if its role is limited.
If this guy was well informed the PS4 is going to be using over the shelf parts. Which means it's not going to be hard to develop for. As for myself, I use to own a 360 along with my PS3 and I got rid of the 360 completely. I went through 4 failing 360's and to go along with paying for the Xbox live scam and I decided I was done with MS. All companies are here to make money but MS is ripping off there customers really bad. Their online service is nothing but p2p online gaming in which Steam and PSN provide for free. PS3 is where my gaming is at and will probably always be that way. And I'm actually subscribed to a service (PS+) that actually feels like they are giving you something for your money. I feel like Sony are more for the gamers.
Plus is a fantastic service and its way better than anything that Microsoft or Nintendo have. I have only been a member since September and I managed to download over 20 games with plus which is pretty good in my opinion. Automatic updates didn't seem important to me until I realize that they save you a lot of time.
I just joined PS+ too. The free games for my new Vita pushed me over the edge. The auto-update/trophy sync and such are great. I might not be able to live without PS+ from now on.
Everyone should take notes from Sony on PS+. THIS is how you sell people a service! No hand over fist or a slap on the face. This is pure plus (pun intended) for EVERYONE and the customers see that. My friendslist is full of PS+ users now and it wasn't too long ago when there were like only 2 of them.

PS has the most high quality exclusives and I didn't even go into the PSN Gems on the PS3 (Pixel junk, Fat Princess, etc.)
Plus they gave us an update that made our PS3s 3D Blu Ray Players. Saving us all another couple hundred bucks.

You turn them on and immediately go to play online.
Do you need to buy a subscription to play COD, for example, on 360? Yes.
How about on PS3? No.
So yeah, online play is free. No subscription required.

I certainly preferred the PS3 for exclusive titles. I played most of the major 360 exclusives during my time with it and the only one I really liked was Fable 2. If I were to get another console today it would be a PS3 for that reason. PC/PS3 is the way to go, IMO. 360 is very redundant if you already game on PC.
@sketchy galore- funny thing is that i had a sdtv when i got my ps3.after switching to hdtv i was sooo disappointed by blurry picture!after few minutes i remembered that i don't have a hdmi cable*facepalm*

As for me i have both a PS3 and a 360 early next year i hope to get a Wii-U.
Can't get one right now as i don't have the money yet but I'm saving up for it.
I like to get all the console's so i can experience all the game's they have to offer.
Mind you I only ever plan on playing Blops 2 and Halo 4 on it (and maybe Dance Central 3 here and there). Whereas I play all other third party games on PC (along with exclusives), and I'll continue to play PS3 for it's amazing exclusives and whatever else I get through PS+ and some third parties like DmC, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, etc.
It's good to be a Multiplatform gamer. As for next-gen, I'll be starting with Sony (I don't count my PC, even though it'll probably be better than next-gen consoles). Since they've done nothing but impress me with their games, and dedication to the gamer. Then I'll get Microsoft's nextBox, followed by Nintendo's Wii-U.

I got rid of my wii and xbox.... perfect combo is ps3 + PC.
Sorry but many of the multiplatform games suck graphically both on xbox and ps3 vs PC.
And nowdays comparing slight differences between the two platforms is not a strong argument.

Everyone should take notes from Sony on PS+. THIS is how you sell people a service! No hand over fist or a slap on the face. This is pure plus (pun intended) for EVERYONE and the customers see that. My friendslist is full of PS+ users now and it wasn't too long ago when there were like only 2 of them.

This isn't. Look he says the PS3 is a second class console when it comes to 3rd party games obviously not true nor correct.
He likes Achievement/gamerscore over trophies that's a personal preference. And its obvious hes hasn't tried PSN+.

While this article blatantly bashes the PS3 in negative fashion, the articles you speak of talk about- as JayD rather plainly states- the price for XBL needing to go away, or how the service hasn't evolved much since its inception.
But, of course, since you're ALLWRONG, I expect you to only see it in terms of "N4G loves Sony and bashes Microsoft," despite there NEVER being articles of this sort about the 360.

I love some Sony (I have love for all 3 major platform holders) - I've bought over 25 Sony games in the last 12 months alone - but this whole "Sony is above reproach, but everyone else is fair game " BS that fanboy zealots spout on this site (and others) is just annoying.

I also read that blog stories weren't permitted on this site but there are a ton of those submitted everyday.
This story is an obvious attempt at hits and only fuels the rage of those who can't contain themselves and be rational which appears to be a few on here.
The mods should really have a better handle on what gets approved because it's obvious that the members that do take the time to approve these articles can't be trusted.
And I myself am to blame for not looking at future stories on this site and disapproving of ones like this. I think we ALL need to be proactive and reactive when it comes to things like this.
