G4TV-PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Review

G4:PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale does some unique things with the classic brawler format by introducing Super moves and a new score format. Online and local multiplayer are both exceptionally solid but there isn't a strong enough focus put on the single-player stories.

This is a good review. Its fair and more informative than Gamespots. He praises how the characters control and says they feel like they do in their respective games which they do. Talks about how the controls are responsive and feel tight, which I completely agree with.

After reading it I was reminded how terrible gamespots review was

And I was reminded of all the starving children in Sierra Leone. Don't know why.

Anyway, great game! Regardless of starving children. Pretty much agree with the review.

...also agree with starving children 0_0

@people who disagreed

Care to explain? The gamespot review was uninformative, nonsensical and was full of contradictions

I agree. This review is much more even. Good MP with very tight controls. SP needed more paying attention to but not bad enough to bring down the whole game down.Very Good effort for their first game.In short not perfect but good enough to warrant a sequel so they can improve on what they didn't do this time. They can emphasize on the rivalry next time.A much more satisfactory review and not just because they gave it a better score but because they didn't take away points for not being like SSB, not having certain characters or anything really trivial like not nice enough menus

Yeah that sounds ¡right. Im enjoying it right now like no other game this year.
Though I dont really like the menues, but you can easily find what your looking for, they just dont look that great :) But other than that...the game itself... FREAkin AWESOME!

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69520d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop520d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard520d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi520d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin520d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer526d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
