this is what happens when you perpetuate something you have no solid information on. Its like that old game of telephone.
you tell something to one person, that person tells it to another and then so on and so on but during the game, the info gets a bit out of place and by the time it makes it all the way back to the originator....
what started out as a wii-u died has turned into somebodies dog died and they are setting up a mcdonalds on the moon.
Who in the right mind would yank a cord out while downloading something? Purposely looking for a way to eff it up? Well its good to know that it wont brick in case of a power outage.. The media is out to destroy nintendo & it might actually work.. Sure its mostly sold out at retailers but it can be found if u look hard enough w/o over paying on ebay.. The wii was gone instantly but this is still around just like when gamecube launched (just not as much)
Read between the lines and Divine is insisting that Wii U isn't selling as well as the gaming media would lead us to believe. You see its not really sold out, just Nintendo manipulating shipments.
Meanwhile Vita is trending behind the Dreamcast, yet its the greatest handheld of all time.
I'm not making this up, he's said these things. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it does seem silly when someone shows up into EVERY SINGLE Nintendo discussion and makes critiques that could be applied to other console makers as well, but you won't hear that from his dude.
I've no sacred cows, I'm critical of Nintendo as well. But the hypocrisy kills me.
Actually, according to my store, we were only sold out of the larger bundles; the 8GB weren't selling at all.
That aside, it's amazing to see you jump in being a troll again, Arius. You were asking DivineAssault, but if he's got P4G like I do, then his Vita's doing just fine. And that's outside of all the other games I have, and the stuff I'm about to grab from PS+ just getting implemented on Vita.
Yeah, I'd say, even without firsthand experience, that his Vita is doing well, indeed.
@Divine-Its not hard to find at all, I was at two different walmarts today looking for a different gift for my son and both of them had Wii U in stock. Just to prove I'm not trolling check the site for in-store availability for zip code 40229.
I know, who turns off the console while it's updating? Seriously, it doesn't matter what device it is, you simply don't do it.
I mean, because it's slow? Ya think during a console launch?
See that's what's funny, people are trolling so hard, they think (like idiots) that if you can find one, it's not selling well.
Nintendo has been saying for awhile they will have regular deliveries. Besides, I picked up a 360 three days after launch xmas, and a PS3 two days after a launch xmas. At Target and Wal*Mart in the Phx area (which is ~4 million people, so yeah, not a small area).
Lots of people are blowing launch issues way out of proportion, it's hilarious. It's a new network, things were going to be iffy. It's been a great launch, unless people were unrealistic. Some by disappointment, some because they want to hate. Both completely unrealistic.
Why are journalists these days the stupidest guys in any room?
The problem is a lot of them are just ppl blogging from home, they just happen to do it on a website that might make them look credible. There is hardly any real journalism in gaming.
I've learned this a long time ago; gaming and respectable journalism don't mix. You either spread misinformation or crack unfunny jokes when you're suppose to be a professional.
When I downloaded the update, I knew it couldn't be 5gb. 5gb even on a solid connection would take much longer than what it took for me, which was about 1 1/2 hours tops. I downloaded Alan Wake on my 360 and it took upwards to 5 hours to finish downloading.
But if this info is true, and the fact stands that the "bricked" consoles were downloading the update instead of malfunctioning, then...wow. That changes quite a bit.
I think whenever any says something bad about the Wii U I'm going to take it as the opposite then I might be closer to the truth. I started doing that with Pachter a long time ago and it's worked for me so far.
Only 1gb would not be such a big deal if it weren't for having only a couple gig left on a brand new machine with the rest of the consoles life ahead of it.
Everybody knows to buy a HD. Newegg has 2tb external ones for $89.99. Cheaper than a crappy MS one that's 1/8th size. Hell even a 20gb one crapped out on me.
Hell I have over a TB in my Steam library, so yeah, even the 360/PS3 top capacity drives are small.
in reality an update usually replaces files. it does not sit in addition to. All firmware updates overwrite the existing firmware but at the same time, if new features are being added then i can see where it would take up additional space. But you wouldnt lose a whole other gb in addition to what is already there.
also, just like with the 360 and ps3, there is an allocated amount of space that they generally never exceed. But they also want to make sure there is enough to store the dl file before it gets applied and merged into the system.
well it did not make sense to me because all the WiiU hardware tear downs agree that it's a very well built system. that is 1 thing NIN really get right, my gamecube has been dropped, stepped on and thrown across the room by my pissed off wife any always works perfectly after.
Only? That is huge compared to the PS3 firmware updates which the latest release amounts to 192MB when downloading using a PC, a small fraction of a gigabyte. I hope any future updates are just small patches and not forcing you to download the entire firmware each and every time you update. That would really suck for people with limited bandwidth. I get only 5GB a month where I live, yes, 5, ARE YOU HEARING THIS!? 5, A FIVE! A little 5...
I think we all hope this... The only saving grace is that this was a rather important and exceptional update. I can't see minor fixes being anywhere near as large, unless Nintendo bunches the pathces together in spaced burts instead of making a crapton of small ones constantly... though I don't know which would be worse... >.<;
there are two ways they can approach this the ps3 method of small but frequent system updates. OR the 360 approach of seasonal updates that encompass a plethora of fixes at one time.
Either way, they have an allocated amount of space they work with and system updates are overwritable. So while it may look like 1gb is being downloaded, once the update is applied that space is then freed up due to the file having been merged into the system.
At least, that is the usual method of system updates.
This is what happens when you give a full retarded that pretend to be a journalist, internet and a twitter account.
Now, the guy that spread this rumour (or should it be called 5 minutes of fame), should apologizes for his stupidity and move to some place without internet to avoid any kind of such stupid tweet again.
It's like this crackhead journalist made an article about a car's airbag coming out and breaking his nose, but admitting he drove into a brick wall at 40 mph and wasn't wearing his seatbelt.
Must of been drinking too, because he didn't even realize he did anything wrong.
What's funny is, the site that I first saw this story on (gamingvogue.com via N4G.com) is down. It just baffles me that people were so eager to see this thing fail. Pretty pathetic.
Don't know how anyone even believed that guy in the first place! No one should listen to someone who is dumb enough to unplug something while its updating!!

and same case with 32 ?!
Vita doing?
?_ .
He/she didn't seem critical to me though... not with this comment anyway.
But I figured I'd add as much to this news report as Divine.
His critiques are only limited to Nintendo products.
Give it time, brother, give it time.

How's yours?
Good to see you buddy!
Yeah nah I'm like the majority of the human population that doesn't give a damn about Vita.
But other than that I'm good. Hope alls well!

his whole job is to search for factual info and give it to us!!!
this guy needs to lose his job.

Argh! this Microsoft pc update is taking to long , I'll just pull the power cable out cause I don't feel like waiting.
Ahh! common sense... wherever did you go?
No one should listen to someone who is dumb enough to unplug something while its updating!!
What an industry.
