I am a huge fan of the entire Halo series, I literally have an entire level on my display shelf dedicated to it, and I have every title in the series so far. I have heard 4 is unreal like the author is saying, I am going to pick it up asap.
I am not a huge Halo fan, although I did love ODST, I have not finished Halo 4 yet but so far its blowing me away, like everything, the weapons, the soundtrack and my god the graphics and level design!
Alright guys you have me convinced I'll be grabbing it at the mall on my lunch break tomorrow. Ahh, can't wait stick someone with a plasma grenade soon.
Lookin forward to entering the Halo universe (since the kids are getting a 360 for Xmas). I really want to start with 4 but also don't want to screw up the experience playing out of sequence.
Start with Halo: Anniversary. Press 'Back' button at the beginning of the game, play with that start to finish. It's up to you to play Halo 2 or not. It has it's moments, but the action is cut down to be quite linear for the first half of the game compared to Halo CE. However there is important elements of the mythos explained in this game which carry on to Halo 3. You must play 3. The game mechanics start to evolve from this point such as tearing out turrets, plus, it's a great campaign which revisits Halo:CE. Halo OSDT and Reach are optional, but don't dismiss either game. OSDT is a great spinoff with some brand new kind of gameplay set in the same time as Halo 2 and Reach is an excellent prequel with some real change ups in the game's formula, which carry onto Halo 4.
Wow, just wow. My gf would leave me if I did something like that to her, let alone the other way around. I would have waited for it to go down in price on boxing day!!!
It is a very involved story but overall it would not mean anything if the gameplay was not good.
It's a shame you missed the 1st Halo. I still remember... Ahh.

But the wife will not let me touch it until xmas.
It's in my house, I paid for it, it's mine. But I can't play it for another month.
Life is funny sometimes.
