W8 is WAAY TOO focused on the tablet/phone functionality. Not only that, but Microsoft is trying (again) to push its Xbox Live-style control onto PC gamers, which simply is not going to work (PC gamers already rejected GFWL).

That's why people are iffy on it.

I'm happy with Windows 7.

Performance is not an issue on my system (I5 SB @4.8GHz, 8 Gigs RAM, 2x240GB SSD, OCed GTX670) and it's stable as a rock.

I only boot my system once or twice a day and it's plenty fast on SSD already. It's going to take a whole day to reinstall all my stuff (I have LOTS of customized stuff), so shaving off maybe 20 seconds a day on booting up isn't going to make any time economical sense. Furthermore, I'm not too thrilled with the Windows 8 UI both in terms of looks and functionality, so that is going to feel like taking a big step backwards.

In short, I see no need to spend time, effort and money on Windows 8 as it currently stands. Maybe I'll go for it down the line if MS adds or makes some awesome changes to Windows 8... or if my system goes through a complete meltdown that requires reinstalling Windows anyway. If not, then I'll stick with 7 until 9 is released.
