I figured that it would be next-gen. I just hope it isn't Battlefield 3 running on more powerful hardware with a 4 after it, change it up a bit DICE!

I just hope it will be a proper Battlefield game again...
... not 'Battlefield of Duty', which the last one was.

I really love the proper Battlefield gameplay, but Battlefield 3 had too few REAL Battlefield maps where you had that great Battlefield 'freedom'.
christheredhead  +   1192d ago
I agree. That was my one main complaint. Far to many maps were essentially a hallway by design. You had a straight line to move forward or backward on and that's about it.

This is the problem with EA. Even when they have something that's awesome, for some reason they feel the need to streamline it towards their main competitor's product.

If your product is similar to your competitor that already owns a majority market share, you're not going to win any new customers over. This is marketing 101, do something unique that sets your product apart from your main competitor!

That's what people started asking when BF3 was first announced. Look what we got.

But, I hope this time they learn their lessons.
DeadlyFire  +   1192d ago

The way it should have been all along. An actual sequel to that game that came out in 2005.

I might actually want to buy this new one and kick ass on it.

Yea, the maps had a lot of useless places that only campers would ever go to. Also putting the game into environments with large buildings or enclosed structures really ruined the destruction aspect compared to BFBC2 where the whole map was destructible. It didn't have the feel of BF2. Frostbite looks alright but not great as everyone says. The movement aspect of BF3 was the worst part to me. The legs jumping over stuff just limited the efficiency of quickly jumping about.

interesting. it seems if true, the console war would really heat up with both the ps4 and xbox720 launching in the same year.
john2  +   1192d ago
the interesting thing here is that if the tentative release date is true, PS4 and X720 will hit streets on October 2013 (and that BF4 will be a launch title). However, this seems unlikely IMO as these consoles will most likely be revealed in E3. An E3 reveal means that both MS and Sony will need 6 months at least to prepare for a launch (and that's an optimistic scenario). Perhaps EA will release the current-generation version on October and delay the next-generation version? Or they might delay all versions of BF4.

I predict Fall 2013-Spring 2014 for launch of both consoles.

Production numbers will be key to keeping it from selling out. Microsoft knows this and they are preping early. Not a bad idea.
dazzrazz  +   1192d ago
Also game will require year after the release date patching due to the fact EA had to ship to fit into holidays window and battle call of doody modern warfare 4. Up to %80 engine efficiency wow.... does that mean we will be missing audio in vehicles even more ? lol :D Current battlefield was nothing more than a $90 entry beta if you got into whole premium thing :>

How can current-gen handle BF4 if its using more then twice of the power of BF3? I can't wait to see this...
Pillsbury1  +   1192d ago
My bet is for dual generation release. Bf4 with current graphics and more features for ps3 and 360. For next gen ps4 and Xbox infinity enhanced graphics, more features, more players in a match. EA would want to maximize profits by being on as many platforms as possible.
KingOptimusAscend111  +   1192d ago
Can't wait see them unveil it.
Hazmat13  +   1192d ago
thats what most games miss like MW or BF gotta have female war fighters (insert sexist joke here).
neonlight45  +   1192d ago
I really hope they design different maps for rush and conquest instead of designing conquest maps and putting mcoms and calling it rush.
Starbucks_Fan  +   1192d ago
NO I don't want to hear info about BF4 I want BF BC3 info!!!
Detoxx  +   1192d ago
Stop asking for BC3, we won't hear anything about it for atleast 1 year after BF4
AngelicIceDiamond  +   1192d ago

I will never buy a game from them at laucnh with the way they treated their fans for the first months after release. I doubt that any of the upcoming games will feel like Battlefield games should. With that being said Battlefield 3 is a good game.
AzaziL  +   1192d ago
Every launch since BF2 has been a failure, servers down on the first hours of day 1, pre-order beta access codes that came in late (I got a full 8 hours of "exclusive" access before everyone else for reserving MoH, whoop dee f'n doo), the whole first week plagued with rubberband lag and frequent disconnects.

The worst part is trying to play and not wanting to quit because it's a game you want to love, kind've like a hot girl that's mean as hell.
AzaziL  +   1192d ago
I hope the next gen consoles focus on allowing more players at once, I could care less about the graphics if we're still stuck with 12 vs 12 max.
Detoxx  +   1192d ago
Only thing I want is more players on console, at least 32, 48 would be lovely tho
venom06  +   1192d ago
WHATEVER THEY DO, itll be better than ANY CoD game thats for sure..... bring on the BF4!!
