Revenue of 711 million with a loss of 381 million means that their expenses were 1.091 Billion. Revenue and Profit are two different things. They made no profit for the quarter.
This really isn't that much. Considering that they publish about anything.
SWTOR Cost them 150 Million minimal amount. They tried to make a WoW clone and that doesn't work so they go Free to play and hope to make up for that cash in the long run.
Strange, I thought they would have done well. I guess a flop like MOH can change alot. EA cop a lot of flak but they have released some of the best games this gen.
Lol, "we lost roughly $400,000,000 because a few thousand people got 1 $19.99(or less) game for free... games that werent selling on origin anyway... yep.
It seems EA has been posting a loss every quarter for a couple years now.
They have so many successful titles, I'm not sure where the money is going? Maybe the execs are just getting paid way too much, or they've already made the investment into the next-gen or they want a loss for tax purposes.
Imagine if you started a business that made $800. The cost to start the business and hire someone was $1000.
That means you lost $200 ($800 revenue - $1000 expenses).

What else cost them?
Sims 4 doesn't come out until 2014. Don't give it away just yet. They have 3 more expansion packs to release before 2014.
Just hurry up and make Battlefield an annual franchise.(If you don't believe me look at EAs newest press release where they admitted it)
Yeah, exactly.
Props, I forgot about that. They actually made some good historic games (Everything or Nothing and the first Godfather game).
Unfortunately, Drazz is more right...and they've destroyed more brands and studios and hurt the industry more than they've helped.
I fear for the future of DICE.
I loved all these games and all were published by EA.
do you honestly think any company loses 381 million dollars and just keeps on doing the same thing
they would be bankrupt
Actually, wow... marketing is a pretty big elephant.
XD
Looks like EA may have been buying a lot of sedans for some reason.
