Will probably be the Nintendo Direct I pay most attention too. As I've stated in the past, how Nintendo approaches their online infrastructure and online services (especially, but not only the Virtual Console) is imperative for them moving forward.

It doesn't need any bloat, only efficient and simple execution. Allow its consumers to block or friend whomever they want, an account based system so that downloaded games aren't tied to the hardware (in case of hardware breakdown) And no more trickle down releases. If they get this right, Nintendo will be on the right track. If not...oh boy.

LoL
They will suffer from consumers not seeing enough value in their console and find alternatives for their entertainment. That will in turn hurt their finances even further.

Nintendo fanboys as well as fanboys of the other companies will defend whatever decisions they make..good or bad. And fanboys alone aren't enough to propell a system into mass market acceptance. Just look at the Vita.

Additional Reply: Allow me to clarify, I wasn't implying you were one of those 'fanboys' at all. My apologies if you thought that.

But I don't think you give the 'average' consumer enough credit. Much like how the games industry doesn't give the so called 'casual gamer' enough credit. When my first Wii had tech issues, I sent it back to Nintendo, they gave me a new Wii for free, shipping included, but all the VC game purchases I had prviously were wiped, I won't allow myself to go through that again, so I'm very interested in how they treat online this time.

And I'm pretty average when it comes to video game hobbies.

Having only minimally taken my Wii online and never bothering playing my 360 online (too many idiots + me sucking = not fun :) ) I'm happy to see where Nintendo is going with this.

All I want is a simple online system, with simple matchmaking and an online shop that highlights the gems and has a decent recommendation system (which hopefully Miiverse caters for)... and Nintendo are famed for using the KISS principle, so I think Miiverse will be fine.

Can't wait to finally get hold of the console. Everything I read about it makes me want it more. This is going to be a great end to the year.

all i want a unified account system, and the ability to chat and transfer game saves, files, and games to other systems if my first one breaks, that's all i'm asking for.
