Eh, good enough to max out most games. Price isnt too shabby. But i feel like there are better alternatives.

I've seen 7850s on sale on newegg in the ~$150 range, which would smoke the GTX 650Ti.

BTW, I have two GTX 670 4GB cards in SLI, so this is not AMD v. Nvidia nonsense. I'm just saying there are better options for a similar price compared to this particular card.

Here's an alternative that I'd recommend:

http://www.newegg.com/Produ...

It's maybe $10 more than the typical GTX 650Ti, but it comes with free 2-day shipping and is much more potent.

About the same price, yet the difference in performance is substantial in the 7850's favor.

You need to look at it from a technical standpoint: that's one tiny card and pretty cheap for being able to run most modern games as well as it does. No way I'd downgrade from what I have but the tech is pretty cool due to its size and price (and a nice physx option as they say--and if your main card does die can be a decent temporary solution while you pick up a new or get a fix).

Something like that could easily be adapted for laptop use due to size and not inflate the price too much compared to more powerful options (it actually 'fits' laptops quite well). I could easily see something similar going into next gen consoles (size and price) which might not be 'much' in terms of what we pc gamers can achieve but is still a significant boost from current consoles and would bring 'low' settings for pc games up to a more modern standard ;)

So the 'potential' is there as the article name implies but it comes down to how it (and other similar cards) are supported by the manufacturers. If something like the 650ti did become mainstream it would only benefit the pc gaming platform as a whole as its a very cheap, reasonably powerful option that could bring all the newer 'tech' some more limelight. The more new hardware becomes mainstream just means the rest of us get an even better experience once its fully supported.

Based on the chart i saw at another site it seems like it's a teeny tiny bit better than my gtx 550 ti which is really disappointing. For a newer card it's supposed to be a lot better in benchmarks.
