ok get your facts right its only outselling ps3 in US. US is not the only market, worldwide the ps3 has been outselling 360 for years.
_LarZen_  +   1002d ago
To many Americans has a sad way of thinking the US is the center of the world and what goes there is global.
AngelicIceDiamond  +   1002d ago
If that were true then why did MS at the beginning of the year said they were no. 1selling console worldwide?

And when Kotaku interviewed Sony this past summer, Sony said they were in 3rd place Though, forcefully by Kotaku. And despite there bad journalistic skills buy Kotaku, Sony still admitted it nonetheless.

I'm just going by what had happened this year.

'If that were true then why did MS at the beginning of the year said they were no. 1selling console worldwide?'

That article made no sense at all. Nintendo is still number 1 overall.
telekineticmantis  +   1002d ago
If we are following trends
then this may be entirely plausible. 2 more Halos after this one, Call of Duty bonus content and a successful casual approach, they seem to have a hold on alot of the casual market, aswell as the social gamers.

Almost afraid to say Sony probably has to find a gimmick in order to compete. That may be the day gaming dies, but it's worked for others soo...
BitbyDeath  +   1002d ago
VR would be an awesome gimmick.

As long as MS dont sell the first model with a small hard drive and then the next model with an even bigger hard drive forcing us to upgrade to that model and so on and so on etc..

Articles like this is just fanboy rambling that everyone should ignore.

The call of Duty effect? Really??? Sorry, but Sony's exclusives are much more enticing than call of Duty... The nextbox is just going to attract more 12 year old idiots who won't keep their mouths shut.

Uhh, that's why there's party chat...
ajax17  +   1002d ago
I was unaware of that... I've never had an Xbox... just going by what I've read before...
DivineAssault  +   1002d ago
Ya right.. It will be the same as it is now.. All multiplat games, very few exclusives, & focusing on kinect casual stuff.. playability & visually upgraded of course but the same.. PS4 will be the ultimate nx gen console in my book.. Even if sales dont dominate, its software, content, & features will have my loyalty as my primary console of choice.. If i get a second console, itl be a wii u for their 1st party & innovation..

MS is rumored to release a killer 720 exclusive line up. I love how people say "I'm not buying a 720." When MS presents that thing E3 of 2013, when you all see it for the first time ever and the games they present most of you will probably change your mind and say "I want that now!" trust me.

Anybody who keeps up with MS's rumored Xbox know that (according to rumor) Xbox Live could have a Diamond service. That opens up the imagination immensely. MS could offer everything under the sun if they wanted, with Diamond. Which could possibly mean silver could finally be free, meaning offering very basic matchmaking which, I know people would love.

I wouldn't rule out the new Xbox its gonna offer some amazing games at launch along with an even more amazing service.
grayfoxx881  +   1002d ago
Silver is already free, I'm going to assume you meant gold. Do you have any links containing these rumors? This is the first I have heard anything about a diamond subscription. Also, any links concerning this launch lineup?
TemplarDante  +   1002d ago
After owning both 360s and PS3s this gen, Ive decided to buy just one next gen console. There were way more multiplat games this gen than ever before, so Im buying the one with the more exclusive 1st party titles I like.

Depends on what the next box has to offer for me. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the next Playstation either way.

They made huge profits with the Xbox 360 and gained massive marketshare compared to the previous gen. They have some serious money to make the next console something really special.

They're going to need to need more killer exclusives. I would love to see a resurgence of REAL Rare games. A Killer Instinct and Conker for launch would be lovely. How about bringing back Crimson Skies from the original XBox? Microsoft is sitting on some sleeping Giants. It's time to release them.

xbox was never a top dog in my book, unless it comes to advertising and ripping off its customers.I don't give a damn about motion controlled gaming nor call of duty. You want my money MS? How about you come up with a good diverse line up of games, quality hardware and stop shoving those ads down my throat. I've had an xbox 360 for few months then sold it, but i have some friends who were gaming on xbox, now they jumping ship and getting ps3s. Step your game up microsoft or go home. I enjoyed gears and forza series, loved lost odyssey, never got into halo and fable, found them boring. Wanna be a true gaming company invest some money in first party studios and some new ips, until then i'll have no interest in your product.

1. Xbox 720 = 75 million sales
2. Wii U = 50 million sales
3 PS4 = 25 million sales

I predict next gen overall will lose around 50 million console sales in total in comparison to this gen.. With what is left (about 150 mill) this is how I see the numbers being distributed

It doesn't affect Japan or PAL regions. They are more likely to remain with Sony or Nintendo.
DFresh  +   1002d ago
I really don't think Xbox 720 will be that effective next generation.

Call of Duty is starting to slump.

XBL is a house hold name but so is PSN and now Steam.
(PSN Plus is getting some exclusive deals just like XBL with deals.)

Kinect is what's hurting the Xbox 360 right now on the core gamers side.

Xbox brand is losing its identity for the past few years and the only way to put it back on track is more true core AAA exclusives that aren't found on PC or other platforms.

No one takes into account the RROD.
(33% or higher failure rate. So the unit sales are inflated with the same people buying consoles over and over again.)

Xbox brand is dead in Japan.

Xbox brand is pretty strong in Europe.

Xbox brand is the strongest in America.

So, in conclusion the Xbox brand still has more to proof.

Not saying they can't but you've got to be honest the exclusive games selection are slim pickings.

year if u live in USA
ipe  +   1002d ago
- irrelevant in asia,(-10 to 20 millions)
- no more 2 years or so timee advantage
- no more 300 euros price advantage
- least number of exclusive ips
- focus on casuals with no strong casual ips
- xlive treats people outside usa, uk like garbage in europe
- nintendi improved online a lot
- judging by vita psn ll be on par with live with free mp
- third console curse

Good luck with being top dog

Com on please STOP CALLING IT THE 720 for the last time
SITH  +   1002d ago
If you were to minus all that was said in this article except the call of duty effect, the author has a big point. That game alone is going to bring tons of FPS followers and with them newly purchased 72o's.

i disagree its all about the great games & we know microsoft will only offer more halo, gears & forza.

PS4 is the Top Dog. i just hope it wont be too expensive.

You know, I keep on hearing how because the 360 was such a resounding profitable success, compared to it's predecesor, the 720 will be more than prepared to be a powerful machine. But let's look at Microsoft's history for second. When have they ever done anything but cut corners to turn a profit? Microsoft was once one of the most powerful software companies in existence back in the 90's, yet come the turn of the century, they stil do nothing than produce cheap broken crap from pretty much every Windows OS to the Zune. I mean look at Vista? Windows was the universal OS before that and we all know how that piece of sh*t turned out to be. Look at the 360 for example. Regardless of how bad the PS2 destroyed the original Xbox, Microsoft still turned a decent profit on the system, yet they still felt the need to sell each 360 unit at launch at a $75 profit, because they simply couldn't be bothered with losing a bit of money initially and just rely on software and services to make up the difference. No. They sold us a cheap ass paperweight with a 56% failure rate, no games, and a required a service fee just to play online. Even if you're a 360 fanboy, let's be realistic here: the original 360s back in 2005-06 were completely worthless, and there was not a single excuse for it on Microsoft's part.

Microsoft is out for nothing but profit. Next gen Xbox will be no different than the 360, except MABYE the failure rate. Even this far into this gen, Microsoft has done little to prove otherwise. Where's that big 360 profit going? I don't Xbox 360 getting any new hard hitting IPs. I just see M$ marketing the casual cash cow with Kinect, the most useless peripheral in the world, because at the end of the day it's money for them.

My whole point is, if Microsoft has been around for as long as it has with the history that it has, why would they suddenly change their ways for a next gen video game console?

Nintendos going to have at least a year advantage on everyone else so chances are high on them coming first again.

Anyone could still be first though, MS could surprise everyone with Kinect 2 and Sony may surprise with VR or something else.

Core is not the big market these days winners will be based on who can attract the most casuals.

I learned not to judge next gen consoles before they are out after the tremendous decline from the PS2 to the PS3. Who could have ever imagined back in 2005 that the PS3 would end up in last place? Even hardcore Xbox fans would have thought the PS3 would take this gen just with the PlayStation brand name alone. So I will leave my judgment until all three next gen consoles are on the market. I'm not a blind fan of one company. I just go with (what I believe is) the best console. Last gen it was my PS2, this gen it is my Xbox 360. Next gen? I'm not making any predictions. I certainly believe Microsoft has the most momentum of the big three going into next gen... that's hardly arguable. But that doesn't mean they couldn't royally screw up.

No chance in hell unless they focus mostly on IPs and leave advertisement bs alone. This coming from a 360 owner since 08.
