I wonder if this part of a marketing ploy?
doogiebear  +   756d ago
Well its not a good ploy. No replay value = rental (at the very most) for me.
Lol_Lmao  +   756d ago
How about 0 times.
reznik_zerosum  +   756d ago
they are not producing games only shity movie abortions, what a disgrace for gaming.
tommygunzII  +   755d ago
You should at least try it before you comment on it. Speaking of disgrace

Yes, like any experience we retrospectively contemplate, or have gone through we are indelibly altered by that experience, but when does that deter us from trying again?

The least "realistic" part of playing the game would be NOT to play it again after knowing the outcome, or what you did right/wrong.

But his point is not without merit. Innocence lost is never regained. But the experience we gain cannot be attained otherwise.

Well if the develoer only has it in mind to make it play like a once-over type of game, then it better be a very long game the first time i play it. I dont know if Mr Cage is aware of this, but most players want to get the most out of their purchases. Especially $60 games. If I wanted zero replay value, i'd watch a movie instead. Cant he add something to make it worth going back to after i beat it? Maybe a time trial mode, a level/movie maker mode a la LBP or Soundshapes so we can share and make our own movie-games scenarios after done beating Beyond two souls. Something to warrant the purchase of this $60 game NEW. If theres no long term replay value, then people (I included) can still get my game used at gamestop then after beating it, and returning it to gamestop in time to get a refund (hypothetically). Or borrow from a friend who beat it and got bored after.

Reply value is a huge selling point for me. No replay, means no solid purchase. I dont even buy great movies, if i can rent them. I need replay value.

So there u heard it folks, don't buy it rent it, straight from the chevals(French for horse) mouth!!!
helghast102  +   756d ago
You said the same thing for heavy rain but then made the trophies so that you had replay it like 8 different times.

Linear trophy progression please.
Kureno_Nakamura  +   756d ago
This seems a bit pretentious.

That'll get the sales going. Nice job there cage.

Twit comes to mind.
Lex Luthor  +   756d ago
So it's a rental then.
DarkSymbiote  +   756d ago
This is a poor philosophy for any developer.
bigfish  +   756d ago
I'll play it as much times as i like, thank you. once I have bought the game, it is now my game (and property) and I can play it however times I like and no one can stop me!!!!!!!
CanadianTurtle  +   756d ago
This is a definitive sign that the game is a rent only.
Acquiescence  +   756d ago
Sorry David...
My amount of playthroughs will be determinded by the trophy list. Needs that platinum.

There is absolutely zero reason to have such draconian auto saves that refuse to even turn the system off without finishing.
Very few things are more annoying then having your game world broken to no fault of your own. I've had a controller turn off just in time to kill Heavy Rain characters if I hadn't been fast enough to pull the power cord out to prevent the system shut off from forcing an auto save.

I see no reason for me to pay full price for this game. I'll wait for it to go used at GameStop before I purchase it.
Mounce  +   756d ago
If he's saying it should only be played once, that means there is no replayability, so at the very least Mr. Cage, the main game better either be long or within its campaign just be 'Totally worth the purchase' that of which, if its not a Full-on sizable game, I'd not know if a $60 price tag would be right, maybe at $30-$40?

Not to say its that price due to lack of quality, but games are $60 generally with promise that it will hold you for many many hours. Story-driven games that only are to be played once though, it'd have to be like, MGS4-long and worthwhile, even then MGS4 is replayable :L
mochachino  +   756d ago
So the game will be 19.99 on release day then?
miamicanesruleall  +   756d ago
One playthrough? Then the game shouldn't cost more than 15-20 dollars, otherwise it's robbery.
phigz18  +   756d ago
He actually said this exact same thing regarding Heavy Rain. Dunno why people are getting so bent out of shape about it.
ziggurcat  +   756d ago
any bets that there will be a bunch of trophies that can only be achieved through multiple playthroughs?
ForNgoods  +   756d ago
so does this mean we won't have to play multiple times to unlock trophies!? quick plat. anyone? hehe.
FinaLXiii  +   756d ago
Looking forward to it but something tells me this wont be as good as Heavy Rain.
Broburger  +   756d ago
I feel this way about most single player games no matter how good they are. The only games I replay again are sports, fps, fighting, puzzle, and racing games.
-Gespenst-  +   756d ago
People can do what they want with the game. I mean if it has multiple endings why wouldn't you replay it? Stupid.

KrimsonKody  +   756d ago
Hmm,
Maybe QD had said that for sequel purposes i.e Mass Effect?
HaVoK308  +   756d ago
If I do play it, I will rent it, or perhaps even pick it up used. Did the same with Heavy Rain. Found the writing and acting to be atrocious and could not bare to finish it. Glad I did not waste $60 on that one.
Raoh  +   756d ago
Is this another one of those out of context/bad translation titles/articles?

Yep it is, actual quote::

"Play it once and do not play again!, You can play again if you want, but I think the best way to enjoy the game is to make choices and never know what would have happened if you made a different choice, because life is so, and Beyond: Two Souls is the life of Jodie Holmes "

It's multiple endings of course there is replay value but DC being who he is wouldn't for the sake of holding on to his version of the play through. In other words he wouldn't replay Mass Effect either, but you can.
LordHiggens  +   756d ago
I adored Indigo Prophecy, I treasured Heavy Rain...I will buy this game day one and respect Mr. Cages wishes. One and done...and I'm sure it will be one hell of a ride.
