I agree with the majority of those points, especially with the idea of cross-play, except the third one. It's subjective, but I like the challenge of fighting to stay within the arena and getting my enemy near the edge and finally booting them over. Always fun to see them blasting away over the edge or into the distance and it feels as if the world is a little more open than just the arena.
I agree it really appeals to me more than the fight till youur meter goes up way of playing. I want to hear about more modes for this game though! There has to be a health mode and maybe some others. Also, will there be items?
I always found ring outs to get in the way of the fighting. I guess I like to play without worrying about falling off.
Anyway, I fear there will be more comparison articles the closer this game is to releasing and they won't let it go until the next Smash releases. I think this is unneeded because it's flamebait, whether it's done on purpose or not. They're on two different systems.
I agree, it did get annoying somewhat, but I usually just double jumped or used agility to easily get back onto the platform and ended with a rightward or leftward kick so my opponent didn't get the chance to easily knock me off again.
The last part of my comment "friends that do it constantly." Sure you can get back, but you had to constantly do it. Plus they would catch you in the middle of a fight with someone else or something so your double jump didn't work.
Like said its personal reference, but then again you can't say anything negative to fanboys lol
@soldierone
If you had a reliable team, it's unlikely the entire team is going to concentrate on you alone sucking you in and popping you out. They'd have your allies to deal with.
Oh, and what exactly was so fanboyish about my comment? I can't simply express a personal opinion without getting labeled as a blind fanboy?? Gee, thanks for the hospitality. Just joined this website and I get labeled as a fanboy...
@lastofgen Yes because Nintendo didn't make a overpower character uh? Sorry but some characters are over powered with ring out attacks.
Any of the Tenkaichi games with Super 17 I can ring out out before the timer started and all it took was one move. Its a cheap move and yeah you can maybe do something, but doesn't change the fact its cheap.
I use Link and mostly use his spin attack to get back, but Kirby is pretty cheap.
I hope ps3 gamers can filter out the vita players. No offense to them, but I dont want my match to be ruined by WI fi stuttering. I likes to have stable connections and good net code in my fighting games.
One genuine advantage that this article misses out... is that Sony's roster could be superior purely because Superbot don't have to pluck multiple characters from one franchise to fill up slots. So no secondary characters, no clones - just one character per first/second party IP, and the game could have 20-30 brawlers no problem. That adds a huge amount of variety, with no room for filler.
Lets just hope they utilize it. Its coming out in the Fall and so far we only know about 6 characters. I hope they don't screw up and only release like 15 characters, then throw DLC at our faces......
Actually 10 has been revealed now. Jak and Toro are the new additions to the roster of the game, albeit it has not yet been confirmed by Sony or Superbot.
And according to Amazon's Playstation All Stars Battle Royale Product Description, there will be "Over 20 first and third party PlayStation characters, each with their own unique set of attacks and moves"
Agreed, the roster is packed. The only reason I didn't choose that as a reason is because, at the moment, it's incomplete. But I could easily see great characters like Nariko from Heavenly Sword, Robbit from Jumping Flash!, and others joining the party. That'd be a big hit.
We don't know if it's an advantage yet though. The greatest advantage this game has is the fact that is coming out probably 2 years before smash bros 4. I also hope Nintendo takes notice of sony's crossover stages because that is a really good idea.
Not that I'm a fan of these type of games but hopefully they spend time on balancing the characters (which may be a factor in roster size for release). I'd rather have well-balanced characters that many will try rather than tens and tens of characters where only 3 or 4 wiuld be useful. These are extremes of course.
I want balancing too, but deep down, Kratos rightfully deserves to be super cheap. I mean, realistically, who would win in a fight? Kratos or Nathan? I mean, I love Nathan Drake's character, but cmon lol.
i dono none of these chars are loveable to me kratos is well corny. drake is some reg guy i dono i just dont have intrest in the chars like i do in smashbros. and nintendos game have so many chars with great personality fire emblem alone u can pull out like 15 chars.
Great personality? Besides Fox and maybe Mario... we have Link, a guy that never talks, Kirby, a ball that does nothing but eats things, and Samus, the character who's personality was destroyed thanks to Metroid: Other M.
This is coming from a person who was obsessed with Nintendo for like 20 years.
(Still very much obsessed with the Zelda series)
You obviously are ignorant of the PlayStation characters so you have no right to claim such a thing. I mean, Nathan Drake alone was praised for having an extremely deep, witty, and very human personality. Seriously.
even link as a mute has more personality then kratos lol and samues personality messed up cus of other m? u do know she was young in other m and still fallowed orders. i dnt see noting wrong with the way she was. lol have u even played kid icarus? or mother? wb fire emblem lol? u made it seem as smash only had those chars
Reverent, you're missing the point. This is how I think of it, the PS3 roster is filled with badass after badass while the Nintendo roster is filled with loveable characters.
When you think of any character in Smash Bros you think of a full fledged hero. They are likeable, maybe a bit cocky or annoying at times, but a lot of the times they put themselves aside to save the world, make it a better place, or are just so darn likeable.
Look at Sony's side. Kratos killed ALL of the gods, a couple of titans, a lot of innocent people, and left the world in ruin. Big Daddy kills people if you get to close to a little girl. Nathan Drake kills for artifacts. Sly Cooper is a master thief. They are not that commendable of people. Interesting and badass, but not extremely likeable.
But I do have to say that Sony does have some exceptions, like Kat from Gravity Rush. In retrospect, she acts very "Nintendoish". haha
You are trollin right? Plz tell me youre trollin! Link has more personality than Kratos? LOL! Im guessin you never played the God of War games or Uncharted games otherwise you would never make a comment like that.
ringouts is apart of smash bros for a reason it makes the game fun. If u mess up you and your friends can laugh about it. If you and your friends are competitve thats on you. Brawl from what the article list has even more unpredictable stages still wario ware inc, flat zone 2, ice mountain etc. Also even If the new brawl isnt out u can still play Brawl, project M, or brawl- on the wii or wiiU which im sure is backwards compatiable.
And exactly how many four player average fighters are there? This game is catching a lot of flak for being an SSB clone, but at the same time, SSB is the only series out that's still getting releases. Power Stone hasn't been around in forever, and almost anything else is an afterthought. There was that one Onimusha, though...
Still, when you look at it, lacking a mechanic which many people found annoying(possibly as many as those who liked it), can be considered a positive. One of the reasons I hated Ness was because of how difficult ringing him out was, and yet how easily he seemed to do the same to me. I'm not necessarily against the ring-out feature entirely, but I think NOT having it helps to differentiate the two games, which is fine by me.
Anyway, I fear there will be more comparison articles the closer this game is to releasing and they won't let it go until the next Smash releases.

Reviews really are pointless these days.
9-10 - Good
1-8 - Bad

As of now, we don't know if Nintendo will be doing the same with Super Smash. So it's still a very good point for PSAll-Stars.
