I considered returning it. I'm still on the fence. I mean, I'm able to play the game... but it's never a smooth experience and there is always lag. I can only imagine how much worse it is for people in certain regions like Australia and Asia.
I am from South America and sometimes it gets very annoying, indeed i am confused because when i get the server error 3007 my modem gets all messed up and can't even browse the net till i restart it :( .On,y happens with Diablo 3 , i play WoW too a lot and never had this issue this is very confusing :s
There in is the problem, GAMERS ADDICITION TO GAMING as a Hobby & something that really doesnt matter, Im not coming down on you or even blaming you, MODERN Society is full of ILLS, people want a temporary ESCAPISM & sense of fulfillment, gaming for many has become that temporary happyness. Its a catch 22, & the Companys & there Corporate Paymasters understand this DYNAMIC very well.
I've been having fun with my Witch Doctor (decided to try each of the classes). And, while there are still a good number of lag spikes (certain boss or champion mob spawns can result in huge spikes), for the most part it's playable.
I worry about the message this will send other game makers, though. What's sad is that Diablo 3 will sell millions while a game like Torchlight 2 will struggle to hit 1m, let alone 3m, in its first year even though it costs 1/3 as much.
If they had single player offline at least people could spend sometime playing it while they fixed the problems. Now, with this new feature of always online... you all have to play along with Blizzard... No doubt it will get better but it's outrageous to spend 60€ on a game that works if Blizzard allows/enables you to when you have already purchased it.
I don't ever want to get to a point where all my favorite titles are dictated by the "allowance" given by publishers to play the game.
If I can buy a DVD/Blu-Ray and watch/use it whenever I feel like it, and I've been doing the same with gaming all these years, I just don't think it's worth supporting this kind of transition out of a blind loyalty to a few passable moments of fun.
I'd hate to see the entire gaming hobby get ruined with such a bold-faced, anti-consumerist trend.
How can the every one been so quite about all this mess that the always online is proving to be!?Why arent more articles on the fully mess Diablo 3 is at this point? They sold more than 6million copies,im guessing Activision payed some publications to keep the mouth shut on all the problems that are happening to paying D3 gamers!Blizzard and activision shoud have already release a patch to end the this always online BS and let paying users play the SP story without hitch.Pirates are playing the SP WITHOUT problems and pay customers are screwed, its just horrible and blizzard dont care since the game its payed already.
I'm wondering whether whether part of the 6 millions who bought Diablo 3 are actually gamers or just future gold farmers adding another side income with the online auction.
Should we call it a game anymore because once the auction house is open we will see people going in and out of the same old campaign maps just to loot stuff and sell them. If the prospect is grinding through those maps in yielding potential hard cash is the reason for replaying D3 over and over again (not due to the story or gameplay or fun coop with friends) even after you've maxed out your character months later...
....not.
Still i am very addicted to the game D:
Your dignity and self-respect aren't worth even the best game on the planet. Drop this game on Blizzard's head like a bag of hammers.

With Diablo 3 you are worrying over pings, lag and disconnections for a singleplayer game.

That's not gaming. That's working.
