The fighting games that time forgot

Fighting games have been something of a niche since the turn of the millennium, but in recent years, the genre has experienced a strong resurgence, thanks in part to games like the Street Fighter IV series, Marvel vs Capcom 3, and the Killer Instinct reboot; fighting games are becoming relevant again. Streaming services like Twitch have seen a huge rise in the popularity of fighting game tournaments, bringing with it more awareness of the fighting game community than ever before. Soon to be released titles like Tekken 7, Mortal Kombat X and Super Smash Bros 4 (as well as the constant milking of Street Fighter IV) are all proof that fighting games are a force to be reckoned with once again, but the genre is often dominated by just a few big name franchises. I miss Clayfighter... I'd love to see a new one, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

Remember xmen arcade machine , 2d beat em up , iceman could drop big ice balls on fighters heads, juggle in the air, etc , like to see it on ps4, pretty please Sony.

Forgive me if that was one of the games mentioned ,I admittedly never read article, for I know every game ever released due to my age.

You are thinking Xmen: children of the atom. It was made for saturn and PS1.

Primal Rage was good. The Jaguar version was a fairly well made port. Better than the 3DO but the Saturn and PS1 versions are the best. The arcade version is on the PS2 midway arcade classics 2.

Samurai spirits also , OK it was more of a sword em up but I remember the zooming in when the fighters for close combat and camera view retreating when they parted , added so much dynamics to the game , another I'd like to see if snk sell it Sony ..please!!

Should do side scrolling beat em ups in next article , shadow warriors , double dragon , ninja warriors....
