Regardless, if it is actually "sarcasm" or if he just uses the word sarcasm to remove his responsibility of what he writes, why would anyone (other than investors) care what place a console is in? Or care how many sales? All I care about is that that number is enough to allow continued support from that manufacturer.

I buy an X1 cause I like the exclusives, the controller, UI, Live, and most of my friends are on it. Is it less powerful than PS4? Xbox has come in last place for the first two systems under it's belt. That has not stopped them from having the best console for those generations.

The day I bought a Xbox, I never again touched my PS2.

I bought a 360 and must have bought 70+ games for it. My PS3? 4 games, though it found great use as a media center for my bedroom.

Xbox One is a truly next generation device. I've bought 10 games for it. I use it multiple hours a day, every day - sometimes gaming, other times for TV/media. PS4, I only own 2 games, and since I got it in February I'd say it's gotten 20 hours of usage.

So sorry to whomever wrote this article. Sony has been taking second place for 15 years in my house.

I know Microsoft got hit hard by the fact that the tv aspect and the kinect didn't take off as planned but they need something else. I see your point but I think it doesn't really matter at this stage. Microsoft has to watch VR very carefully as reacting to it might not work (like it hasn't with their mobile OS). Streaming needs to be a top priority for them. I can see Sony, in the near future, making remote play work for phones and tablets an/or other devices. They also need to not allow Sony to establish their streaming service. PS Now has problems now but it could have a great reach in the future. Also Microsoft needs to get into the set top box game. Apple and Google are there already and now so is Sony. In a way they would be reacting but the reaction is before it becomes to late.

At this point in time it doesn't matter what people will say they need to do it or at least show they are thinking that way

They shut down MS Entertainment studio all for the sake of gaming because people are crying about MS none game focus once again.

They got rid of Kinect because it wasn't taking off as planned and people don't care for Kinect games anymore. Plus Kinect wasn't hardcore focused big backlash from that. So Kinect's almost out of the picture.

Now that MS cut everything that casual or none gaming MS partners with CD to make ROTTR exclusive, or timed rather. MS renewed game focused comes into play.

The arthur feel like you feel when you're favorite sports team is having a bad season. It doesn't stop you from loving your team. But it doesn't also help when you are embarrassed by the season that they are having .

If you buy a game system because you like the exclusive on that console. That is a very valid reason for your purchase.

As for responding to the actual article, at this point that what the XBO feels like to many consumers. The entire first year of the XBO has been damage control and fixing all the problems caused by the reveal. The last major thing they need to do is have their full worldwide launch, and they'll finally be pass all the problems that plagued their console.

2015 needs to be the year the XBO comes out swinging.

*They need to make sure they're first to cut price out of the 3 consoles. $349, by March has to happen to scoop up all that tax money. More importantly it needs to happened, because MS can't "win" when their console is the same price as Sony's.

*They need to make sure they have a strong line-up of "EXCLUSIVE FIRST PARTY, AKA NOT GOING TO OTHER PLATFORM" games, and a well rounded library of games for the entire year.

*They need an amazing E3 with Halo 5, Gears of War, Forza 6 (looking Next-gen), Crackdown 3, and Quantum Break as their big guns. They need to show some amazing exclusives for 2016, and a well rounded 3rd party line-up for the rest of 2015 and early 2016.

*Improve XBL. XBL was another reason the 360 did so well from the start against the PS3. As of now PSN and XBL are overall comparable services regardless of what people want you to believe. MS needs to undoubtably take back the crown of best online service.

*Take risk and chances. MS has passed on many games they deemed too risky, or unsure of and most of those games ended up on PlayStation and became hits. Sometime a big risk can lead to huge rewards, but just make sure it's a calculated risk. This can also play into how you sell the XBO. HDMI-In was a big bullet point for them, so use it as a promotion to get cable providers to sell the XBO at a subsidized price. This will get more boxes into homes, where you can make more money on XBL and software, and it's the only way you're going to have a chance of catching the PS4.

So overall lower price (must be lower than PS4 always), Games (AAA + diversity), Future Content (games & apps), XBL (improvements), and taking chances (subsidize) are what will get the XBO out of it's rut and compete with the PS4.

Also xbox is listening to us and changing sony coasting i think they can close the gap over next couple years. I was a staunch supporter of Xbox 360 because of the fact that most multiplats ran better on it. Such as Fallout, Skyrim, GTAIV, all CODs, Red Dead Redemption, RAGE, basically you name it up until around 2009.

I bought my PS3 when this began to change, with titles like LA Noire, Batman, and the vastly superior version of Mass Effect 2, and so on.

Now this gen, I have both systems - and my Xbox One isn't going to be seeing any more multiplats after I tested most launch titles on both, and PS4 was always better.

This is why so many people have jumped from Xbox 360 to PS4!

I play games to get ideas for NY own stories. In the past, I played games to have a reason to live: couldn't kill myself until I'd finished my backlog (never did, so here I am).

Some people play games to get paid, or let off steam, or escape reality. Playing games isn't just for the sake of playing.

As to the article, I think Xbox gamers- the fanboys, at least- seem to have become conditioned to believe second-best IS best. It's evident in how their argument shifts in order to keep their console at the top regardless of whether it is or not.

Mine is Halo. Its the only FPS I play, really. Halo MP and co-op just had a special magic to it with my friends back home in JA.

Unfortunately, its gonna be very difficult to have those times with them again, so I figured this gen will be predominantly single player focused for me (maybe some Destiny with a classmate), hence why the ps4 will be my main console this gen.

I owned a 360 and PS3. I had a PS4, and just sold it to get money to buy the Xbox one. I don't understand all of the PS4 hype. I really didn't find any of the games that great. The only first party game I had was Killzone. It was ok, but no Halo. For me I enjoyed God of war games, and the uncharted series on the PS3, but they never had a game to compete with Halo multiplayer.
It just seems to me that in this Gen, everything MS does, they get bad press for it. In the end, I looked at what matters most, which is the games, and I really like the Xbones lineup this holiday and beyond compared to what the PS4 is offering. They also have some really great features, and now that they are giving away some games with Xbox gold, I will be an Xbox fan this generation.

Nope I don't feel second best at all. This year I would've played Titanfall, MCC, Sunset Overdrive, FH2 and Ori. Those games on top of the non stop updates that's made my XB1 better, GWG that's churned out decent titles, Microsoft's commitment to getting content on the device has left me as a happy customer.

My console, and I'm saying this as some that has access to other consoles like the PS4 and WIIu because roommate and girlfriend own those consoles, is not second best to those consoles. After playing those consoles I don't feel their games are superior to the exclusives I've played on my XB1. I don't feel their additional content is superior than what I get on my XB1. So no I'm not second best.

I bought this device because the games on it simply intrigued me more and I honestly feel like I've got more than my money's worth. Right now if I was in the same position I was in in January I would still buy an XB1.

Dear Jason Messer (Author)... You don't need to wait. The Xbox One is succeeding. It's selling well ahead of 360 and its got loads of games coming soon. I would suggest the sooner you drop the "ePenis envy" and just enjoy your console the sooner you will get past this child like need of yours. Most of all have cars and are invested in them heavily and yet the vast majority of us don't go running around crying I don't have the best car. Being a more powerful console means nothing if it doesn't have the games I want to play, at least at the moment. Every game I've wanted in the first year have all been on Xbox. Sunset Overdrive, Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, Halo MCC, Ori, Forza, etc. The only game Ps4 got this year I was jealous of was Outlast and it eventually came to Xbone.

When Uncharted and those games start coming out I'll be grabbing a PS4.

I get annoyed also when people say just get a PC if you want the best experience. That'd be fine if the PC got any games I want to play. No Uncharted, Destiny, God of War, Halo, Gears of War, Killer Instinct, Quantum Break, etc, etc, etc? Okay no thanks.

Actually 2nd place has been great for Xbox 1 owners. If the Xbox was 1st place in sales, theres no way theyd be pumping out update after update. Ive had mine since day one and every month i enjoy it more than the last. My PS4 is great too, it just doesnt do as much as my Xbox can do right now. The share features are a little better though... but Upload channel/app on Xbox is pretty cool. Especially now that you can comment, like,and share on everyones videos. Second place is fine.

I don't care what people say if u like Xbox games buy an Xbox One. Is the Xbox One less powerful than ps4, yea but meh not by much at all to my eyes. Its not like we're talking about a power difference similar to ps2 vs Xbox or GameCube, now that was a power difference and it didnt matter because ps2 was still waay better. Developers found ways to still make awesome games and that is happening and will continue to happen with Xbox One. Play what u like but my Xbox gaming future looks really bright. :-)

X1 fans feel the same way that PS3 fans did last generation. That an media/fanboys hype about an "inferior" console doesn't necessarily mean a boring, unplayable and worthless machine.
Most gamers are happy to buy a console that has a few games on it that suit their playing enjoyment and are happy that this generation looks fun to play regardless of FPS/1080p media hysteria.
The problem Microsoft has is not the console hardware, but the need to push more content and features on to it that appeal to people.
For example, if Microsoft bought exclusivity for a hypothetical Minecraft 2, they would sell a million consoles to young teenagers in the first day regardless of how crap the graphics look or how "inferior" the X1 is to the PS4, because nobody buying it would be comparing pixels or frames per second, they would just buy the "inferior" console because it has what they need to play the game they want to play.
They showed their hand with Tomb Raider, but I am surprised they didn't throw even bigger money at Call Of Duty, Evolve or Fifa 15 exclusivity because again, at the end of the day, nobody is going to care if Fifa 15 or COD are in 1080p or has marginally better anti-aliasing if their favourite game franchises are only available on the X1, and even though it would anger and rage 10 million PS4 owners, with enough exclusive well known franchises, a fair amount of those gamers would jump ship or purchase both consoles and Microsoft's battered reputation would slowly improve over time along with their sales figures.
I mean.... who is going to worry about angering fanboys by buying franchise rights, when the end result is that you ship 500% more consoles per week as a result! Money is more important to the shareholders than a few blogs raging about buying exclusives or a tarnished reputation in fanboy circles.

What I think might be the X1's big improvement is when DX12 comes about, not because it may/may not improve performance (because I think performance is not what is important here.) but because there is talk that a PC game can be ported to X1 in ridiculously quick time frames (one Microsoft head said little more than a day?) and will open up to a LOT of PC developers wanting to push their games onto the X1 and tap up the console market because it will be so cheap and easy to do. The good news for X1 gamers will be a huge variety of games coming through suddenly, the bad news is that as with any ported games, the quality may not always be there and bugs/patches may pop up a lot. But the fact that a lot of well-known PC games may start to appear in much larger/faster releases on the X1 may end up making the PS4 games lineup look incredibly sparse. Again, it won't come down to performance of the hardware, but the fact that the PS4 has 1-2 game launches a week, and the X1 could have 7-10 game launches a week, and quantity and variety of games you can only get on the X1 will rule over the 1080p and quality of the PS4 games.
But that will only work if DX12 really does help PC developers port their titles quickly and easily (and cheaply) to the X1 that it becomes a no-brainer to do it!

But then again..... they might just shoot themselves in the foot yet again and make everything I said null and void! It is Microsoft after all!

If you own a car, and someone writes an article saying that your car is not good (for whatever reason) and it sparks conversation on a message board. There will be people who are going to mention their negative experiences, and others who will mention their positive experiences. Those who mention their positive experiences get labeled as "Fanboys." The who goal at first was just to simply explain that their experience with this car (or any product; i.e. Xbox One) is not as bad as it was perceived to be. The more they talk good about the car the stronger their defense of the car is, and thus more of a fanboy they become.

A better article would be one that talks about the overall experience with Xbox One. Are people satisfied with the system and why?

I have them all and here is an example why it's awesome. I plan on buying madden on PS4 so I can do my online league with friends. But I happily paid 5 dollars to grab ea access for a month on XB1 to get a head start, and I can play some peggle and finally play battlefield 4.
