Why Wait For Samus? Seven Metroid-Like Games To Play Now

Gameinformer:
"One of the biggest disappointments coming out of E3 was the lack of any Nintendo news regarding the company's popular Metroid series. Thankfully, gamers no longer have to rely on Nintendo to scratch that itch. Over the years there have been a number of great releases that have emulated Metroid's exploration-based gameplay in a variety of original ways. Here are some of the best non-Metroid, Metroid-like games that any fan of the series should make a point of adding to their gaming catalog. "

Yeah sure there are great games that use the same formula, but it's the atmosphere I love most about Metroid.

I've never been more immersed in a video game than while playing Metroid Prime. The music, atmosphere, locations, enemies etc. were amazing. Come on Nintendo I want to experience that again!

randomass1713532d ago

I've been borrowing the trilogy for Wii ever since I got the Wii U but I haven't once played it... I really need to change that. All I ever hear is how great those games were. Gotta be better than Other M which was really lacking IMO.

Venoxn4g3532d ago

there are 2 metroid games in development .. one of them 2D other is ..who knows, but big chance it's gonna be like Prime ..

LightDiego3532d ago

Great games, but we really need a new Metroid too, lol.

MrSwankSinatra3532d ago

Not making a 2D Metroid on the 3DS is really a missed opportunity. I would imagine that it wouldn't take much money to make, but at the same time would sell well and sell systems. It would also be perfect to tide over people until an actual console Metroid game comes out.

lonelyplayer3532d ago

Nintendo stop releasing 30 new marios every year. We want metroid!

lilbroRx3532d ago

Nintendo generally only release 2-3 Mario games a year, and they are their best selling titles. Why would they want to stop?

Metroid sells no where near as high as their other games.

princejb1343532d ago

Maybe it don't sell well because no one wants that metroid prime series. I rather have a 2d metroid any day over a first person shooter

Why wait for SAMUS?

Don't TIME make a Reason?

OT

I will look into these.
Metroid is one of my favorite games.

The 7 Best Vampire Games: Embrace the Night

Vampire games are making a comeback of late, and gamers hoping this is a new trend should look back at the 7 best vampire games ever made.

SimpleSlave19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

What is a list? A miserable little pile of scribbles.

A Best Vampire Game list and no Bloodborne. A bold choice, indeed.

The_Hooligan18d ago

IMO, I wouldn't consider bloodborne a vampire game. Long story short, It's more about the side effects of the blood experiment and the influence of the red moon, than actually being a vampire.

SimpleSlave18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yes, Bloodborne is about Vampires. It's not just the undertones, or the imagery or the obvious parallels, it's pretty much everything and then some. Here's the thing, Bram Stoker's Dracula is also not a Vampire novel. Why? Because technically Vampires from folklore were something else.

But based on our updated view of what Vampires are, informed in one way or another by Bram Stoker's Dracula, Nosferatu The Vamprye, and many other stories, and combined with From Software's own interpretation, we can say with confidence that Bloodborne IS a Vampire story. Sure, there are other elements, but the central narrative is pretty much Vampires. Which would make it THE Vampire game. I mean, Cainhurst Castle. Anyways, that's how I see it.

But to each their and we'll agree to disagree.

Thats the best Vampire game ever, but enough talk, have at you!.

SimpleSlave18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Absolutely... Now, die monster! You don't belong in this thread!

I've lost all hype for Bloodlines 2. It's going to be an action game.

Barlos18d ago

No Blood Omen? Even today it's one of my favourite vampire games. We could really do with a release on modern platforms.

I really enjoyed Vampyr. The combat is a little clunky and could use some work. However, the story, characters, dialog. setting, and pretty much everything else in the game is great.
