Why Dark Souls II Will Not Be Game of the Year: It Wasn’t Hard Enough

Unfortunately, modern gaming requires that everyone should be free to complete a game by any way they choose. That especially applies to Dark Souls II. This game is supposed to be a throwback to classic games that demanded your full attention. You have to learn from your mistakes in order to survive. Now it appears that people who lack the ability for common sense can complete this video game Satire.

When did being a hard game ever get a game a GOTY award?

Anyway, yeah: DS2 was easy. Not very hard at all. And worse level design and lack of creative inspiration. The dlc was great, but that level of quality should have been seen in the retail game.

I Like Dark soul 1 the most, then Demon Souls (Demon Souls was brutal, but most fans like it the most so I respect their opinion)

Agreed. i was underwhelmed by dark souls 2 did 2 playthroughs and never touched it again. but on dark souls/demon souls i have ng plus 7 characters respectively.

MightyNoX3547d ago

Same. I'd give Dark Souls a 10/10, Demon's 9/10 and DKsII a 8/10.

Miyazaki's influence is sorely lacking and you can feel it. Humanoid bosses, non-interconnected world, etc.

Good game but not GREAT. Currently, Tropical Freeze and Wolfenstein are my GOTY contenders.

I agree. Something wasn't right. Mayne it's the simple fact that it was more of the same but dumbed down. Although I will say that more of dark souls at all is better than most games.

Instead of giving options to make it harder, b/c most ppl simply won't do it. Make the original intended difficulty very difficult and give options for ppl to make it easier...of they want...like joining the cowards clan!

And if they choose the easy route, refuse them the ability to get any prestigious accolades/trophies.

Even if it had half the difficulty its still the best action rpg around since dark souls 1 atleast as far as gameplay goes. My favorite rpgs this whole gen has been the souls games and my second pick would be fallout new vegas...

I dunno bro:

Take away good level design, intelligent A.I. for bosses and enemies, and the challenge--and all your left with is a mediocre game. If someone new to the series started with DS2 they would think the game was a 6/10 at best. Because we're fans, and there aren't any other games even remotely similar, we tend to boost our scores of the game.

I hope Bloodborne is a return to form. Got a PS4 immediately after the game was announced.

The combat system is still extremely broken. There's bad hit detection, and the frame rate blows. Not goty

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
