LittleBigPlanet 3 Levels Only Limited by Hard Drive Size

In an interview on the PlayStation Blogcast, Sony Xdev’s Tom O’Connor has revealed that level size in LittleBigPlanet 3 will be limited only by your console’s hard drive. New level "stitching" functionality will allow creators to join multiple levels together, effectively eliminating the restrictions of previous games.

Not having a thermo limit is huge for this franchise.

waltyftm3546d ago

Agreed, the size and Quality of the levels will be amazing, my personal GOTY and i havent even played it.

Snookies123546d ago (Edited 3546d ago )

That's it. This game has just become a creator's best friend. I can't wait to see the infinite possibilities that will inevitably be manifested in this game. I was blown away by what people could do on LBP 1 & 2. LBP 3 is basically limitless, and that both scares and excites me.

iamnsuperman3546d ago

Well this is going to get interesting once the community gets a hold of it. I am going to be played a lot of different types of games on LBP3

MasterCornholio3546d ago

I wonder what the first 1GB game will be like?

waltyftm3546d ago

Think bigger, HUGE Planet sized Penis :)

MasterCornholio3546d ago

But I thought it was a kids game.

:(

Ron_Danger3546d ago

@mastercornholio

It is. It's just some guys can't stop thinking about male genitalia.

Sm00thNinja3546d ago

This officially nullifies my interest in project spark.

OrangePowerz3546d ago

I wouldn't go that far. I think there will be a lot of cool stuff you can do in Project Spark that LBP might not do that well and vise versa.

dafegamer3545d ago

project spark is not user friendly enough, which causes it to be too complex. Also you dont really "create" in Project Spark, its just choose item and drag & drop. IN LBP you could really create stuff that doesnt even exist in real life, like camels made of Sofas and a fly made of parts of a Microphone

OrangePowerz3545d ago

As someone familiar with all sorts of level editors and 3D programs like Maya I don't mind complicated or complex tools. Both have pros and cons.

creatchee3546d ago

@Sm00thNinja

I've played/created with Spark, and I have to say that I like the LBP series better. It's way easier to pick up and do stuff, and Sackboy controls a lot better than the characters in Spark. That's not to say that Spark doesn't have promise - the 3D aspect and AI options are top notch. But I just had a lot better of a time with LBP games from a playing/casual creating standpoint.

Sm00thNinja3546d ago

Agreed Project Spark was not user friendly. Definitely not for casuals

An update on the LittleBigPlanet server and online services

Classic LittleBigPlanet servers are to be shut down permanently following hacks.
Sony’s drastic move comes after months of downtime for the older games.

darthv72948d ago

It was fun while it lasted. And some of the user created stuff was a blast to play with.

Snookies12948d ago

Whaaa-? That's crazy. Didn't expect it to be permanently shut down...

Teflon02948d ago

It's still up on PS4, they just shut down the PS3 end because hackers on PS3 can't be stopped and go on the game making announcements that can't be avoided without having to go back to all the old game codes and updating to remove the feature etc. It's one of those sad and garbage things where hackers ruined a good thing. I'm mostly sad about the Vita, I'm not sure if I have my music stages saved to my Vita, meaning they're gone forever if I didn't save them back to it. They were good too :(

Profchaos948d ago (Edited 948d ago )

Have to say I expected them to be permanently shut down problem would be in the underlying server architecture and possibly something like a depricated authentication protocol which has to be replaced that the PS3, PSP and vita can't support which is why they can't be securely restored on those consoles but the PS4 does support it.so lbp3 was restored on that.

Given the attackers were able to breach the server there was obviously a fear of lateral movement once inside their servers so I can't blame them for this and it makes sense despite the huge blow to the community millions of hours spent building that community.

Despite this blow I believe the millions of creations are going to be available via lbp3 and it's capability of backwards compatibility with user generated content so that's something to be thankful for still not a huge consolation to the many players who only own a older console but unfortunately that's the world we live in these games are old the older they get the more insecure the servers get which the company that make them.host them on and the more likely they need to be shut down.

Nice edit to your troll comment.

I reread the article, and changed it, to be as honest on the topic as possible.
Let's be real, it was an easy reaction to have considering their actions of late.

***“We've hired four people from the LBP community" reveals Alex Evans, co-founder of UK studio Media Molecule and creator of LittleBigPlanet. Including one lucky soul who dodged death to get a job on LBP2. Enter John Beech, or 'johnee' to his PSN friends. Two years ago John was a builder with absolutely no qualifications to speak of. But now? He's a full time designer at Media Molecule working on LittleBigPlanet 2, one of the most anticipated titles on PlayStation 3. This is his story.***

of course there is.. He was stealth trolling stating all LBP contributors wasted their time making levels for LBP... I pointed out that some of the contributors for LBP + Dreams have actually got JOBs because of the CREATIVE console. Just like Gran Turismo fans

Understandable they had to do this better to be safe then sorry. I just wish those right wing racists that hacked the servers and started posting homophobic slurs would get want they deserve a good few decades in prison.

Profchaos948d ago (Edited 948d ago )

That's the thing I guess if it wasn't them it would just be someone else and we would still be in this position regardless of their intent.

darthv72948d ago

What are you going on about?

Profchaos948d ago

The attackers breached and manipulated the servers to place abusive messages all over the game ccontent https://www.ruetir.com/2021...

Should You Start Your Kids With Retro Or Modern Games?

BY JOHN SANTINA: Should you introduce your kids to the world of gaming with retro or modern games? Super Mario Bros. or New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe? The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past or Breath of the Wild? Does Timmy seem more like a Tetris kinda kid or a GTA Online kinda kid?

Being a parent is, without a doubt, the most rewarding life choice I have made on this planet (I’m equally proud of the life choices I have made on other planets, but we’ll talk about those another time). It fills me with joy to know that my legacy will live on through my scruffy little gamepad destroyers.

But, being a parent comes with responsibility. Our children need food, somewhere safe to live, not to mention lots of love, encouragement, attention, and someone to check for monsters under the bed.

Modern, retro games do not have the best controls/response a lot of the time. That's how I/we did it.

anonymousfan1360d ago

I think retro games are not as accessible... I hope to try 1 or 2 classic games with my kids though.

garos821361d ago

GTA vice city followed by Silent Hill 2. i want my kid to harden the f**k up cause the world aint a peach :)

CrimsonWing691360d ago

I’d start them with modern games. Definitely things like Mario 3, Mega Man, Contra, Castlevania, etc. whip ‘em into shape and have some appreciation for the old school.

Nacho_Z1360d ago

I'm going to fire up the SNES and try her with Mario World and Mario Kart, seems appropriate. She'd probably think it was funny beating me up on Streetfighter.

CWheatley1360d ago

Retro simply because the size of the controller is smaller and less buttons to navigate. The games don't matter as much because it's their first time experiencing video games. They don't know any better, unlike us gaming veterans 😉
