Working Dreamcast Hard Drive

Carl Williams writes, "The Sega Dreamcast is a console that probably has had the most new games, new hardware interfaces, hacks, etc released for it after it was commercially dead. Take this new hack for instance, a hard drive interface. One that really works. Read on for more information."

A working hdd... WOW I'm excited.

In all seriousness, it was ahead of its time. Had some great games. A boxing game in particular, can't remember what it was called though. I was always the sumo guy

And the in built browzer was slow as fck but kind of amazing at the same time lol as it had never been done before

Ready 2 Rumble Boxing was the boxing game, I believe, you are thinking of.

I agree, the Dreamcast was ahead of its time in many ways.

Considering in getting the broadband modem for it, but...it's like $200 on ebay. Yea they made a 1st party LAN modem for it, it was that ahead of its time. And yea, Yea online gaming on dc is sorta alive guys..

Plus I need it to transfer my shenmue save and convert it to pal that way I can play the eu version of shenmue 2.

Dreamcast is the greatest console ever.......too bad it was supported by Sega who at the time had no money and no vision.

Dreamcast with Genesis money and vision and we be Buying Dreamcast 5 or 6.

I believe they had plenty of vision. That's why the console was ahead of its time. :)

The DC was way ahead of its time. Direct from arcade ports made it my all time favorite home console. I say home console because my favorite all time is probably the Neo Geo because of the Metal Slug and Samurai Shodown series.

pwnsause_returns3551d ago

Kinda helped when sagas arcade platform was dreamcast based (NAOMI)

jwm23551d ago

Oh absolutely. I grew up in the arcades and SEGA made many of my favorites. To this day I still play the DC and enjoy it the same way I did 12-14 years ago.

SP4CE_C4PT4IN3551d ago

Dreamcast just had games that were outright fun to play.

jwm23551d ago

Yes they had to. The games were designed to take your quarters, to keep you coming back for more. You could enjoy them in small doses and in 30 minutes felt like playing some more. Those are the games I love.

I would kill to have a Way of the Samurai game with a huge budget and modern tech... The first game was one of my greatest joys on PS2 back in the day. And I really hope From Software will do something with Tenchu... I hate that they're just sitting on the IP like it doesn't even exist.

Relientk777d ago

Don't play with my feelings like that.

Also, new Tenchu please!

Tenchu would be superb in this day and age. Ninja and samurai games are hot right now and more is better.

The Reason Sega Lost The 32-Bit War? The 32X, Says Yosuke Okunari

"The company was unable to focus enough on its main hope"

Nope. Going back to the 32X as the reason Sega lost that generation doesn't go back far enough before the Saturn.

Sega executives need to blame themselves as to why Sega lost that generation. Not Saturn. Not 32X. Not Sega CD. Nope. Executives were the reason why. It wasn't the hardware. Those devices were either dropped early or released to soon resulting in a developer backlash the hurt the game catalog. They really shouldn't have been made at all because they should have planned their next move more carefully. It has nothing to do with the devices. Poor leadership decisions and lack of unity within the company are what happened.

Love how blame is always shifted away from what is the truth. Writing a book placing the blame on the 32X isn't the truth.

I am pretty sure there are documentaries (Youtube) around it which highlights these points. I had Sega Mega drive and NES growing up but that's about it. I didn't even know there was a war going on between these companies but I do remember thinking why I can't play Sonic cartridge on Nintendo or Mario on Sega :D

FinalFantasyFanatic8d ago

I had the Genesis and the Saturn, also had the SNES and 64, I never got a Dreamcast for some reason, but I never saw one in the stores either.
