i think we will see something about next mass effect at next year's e3, but i also think its coming fall 2015. ME3 was a while ago so the team has had a long time to rethink/develop new game if fall 2015 it is

Aside from the visual tease and tech demo, I got nothing substantial from the discourse. And all the informational opacity really sounds like it's due to things not being sorted out, rather than a desire for secrecy on the development side.

Son I am disappoint.

I would take anything these guys said with more than a grain of salt.

Total horse s*** really. meaning I wouldn't go near it.

"We want to bring an spiritual succesor [to Shephard's story]."

hmm this tells me they are going for new trilogy in Mass Effect Universe and i doubt we will see any connection to previous trilogy, Mass Effect Universe has so mush potential and i really hope this does not fail :[

So in other words were going the dragon age route? Were your story evolved around your decisions and you got to see how your choices affected the world.

Only each game took place in new areas in your previous quest was nothing more then folktales and you really didn't feel like you played that much of a part in changing anything

Morality in RPG's Part 1: Personality Development

There are lots of reasons to love a good role-playing game. The stories are immersive, the worlds are detailed, and most importantly, the player is given a range of control over how they want to play. Options range from choosing what type of fighting style you like to customizing a character with a unique look and personality.

I really like the whole morality concept as long as it affects the ending and general progression of the game. At the very least how people treat you.

As much as I loved Infamous 2 for example, morality is pretty much a non factor in which ending you get as it is based on one final decision at the end of the game. Kinda a buzz kill if you ask me.

Infamous SS did it better IMO, save for a few story scenes that are exactly the same regardless of morality. At least here however your ending is determined by your overall morality throughout the game.

The Ogre Battle franchise does it best though. Not only does morality affect everything throughout the game, but also who your allies and enemies outside of the big bad do as well. How I miss this IP.

I Just Can’t Do An Evil Playthrough In A Game

Jason Monroe writes:
No matter how hard I try, I just can’t do an evil playthrough of a video game. It’s not because I’m a nice guy (I’m actually a selfish jerk), games just can’t do them right.

inFAMOUS did it well, they only franchise where I constantly played each path, they made it interesting by presenting it as means vs ends not "good vs evil".

with Ghost of Tsushima SP said the paths will be warrior vs ninja

one other game that did the paths in an interesting way was Jade Empire and the open palm vs closed fist

Snookies122112d ago (Edited 2112d ago )

You mean... Samurai vs Ninja, for Ghost of Tsushima right? As Samurai were the honorable ones in the public eye. Whereas Ninja did their rather unsavory deeds in secrecy.

NewMonday2112d ago

don't know what SP call it officially but yah.

Nitrowolf22112d ago (Edited 2112d ago )

I always find myself playing the hero, because deep down that’s what a majority of us want to be. The decisions in games always reflect ourself.

There are countless playthrough of a game however where I thought I made a good decision but it ended up having a bad outcome, so from time to time I’ll restart the save point and choose the “evil” decision if it means x character get to live.

I’ll say this, after I beat a game I usually go back and go all out because I don’t feel it matters at that point.

I don’t r ally think it’s that a lot of games do it poorly, I think it’s just naturally we don’t want to go down that route.

cyclindk2112d ago (Edited 2112d ago )

Agree and disagree when I consider it now. I think in many cases one is punished for the evil deeds, as we are in reality, “you killed a civilian, restart” scenario. So we hesitate to TRY anything else, which may in fact be very rewarding in its own way, especially if the context make sense and the game design allows for such options.

NewMonday2112d ago

still waiting for a take like Code Geass, you have to act like a bad guy to save the world.

Aceman182112d ago

I've both both good/evil in Infamous, Jade Empire, Kotor. I think I did both in one of the Mass Effects but it truly remember lol.

In Detroit I got the good ending where everyone lived. My next playthrough I will try my best to go bad route lol.

For some reason I easily revert to good side lol

AuraAbjure2112d ago

I heard infamous 1 was sweet. And from a friend who is quite critical.

EmperorDalek2112d ago

It mostly did, though I think the ending of Infamous 2 should have dropped the morality aspect. It presented two logical choices, and it would have had more impact if players weren't already determined to choose based on morality.

I have a hard time doing it as well lol. I have been bad in a few games but it's always the second play through and only a few times. I'm going to do it in my second play through of Detroit and Vampyr though.

ameliabaz2112d ago (Edited 2112d ago )

Lol i am the same. I recently attempted a "machine Connor" playthrough of Detroit Become Human, but halfway through I found myself choosing all the nice/kind options again. I need to try it again!

Smokehouse2112d ago

Some characters I like too much to go the jerk route lol. I will do the same options for certain characters even on jerk playthroughs. It’s all subconsciously though, I guess that’s just a testament to their character design.

ZaWarudo2112d ago

I love being an evil asshole in the Fallout and Mass Effect games.

If only there were a system that supported games from previous generations it would make waiting for ports obsolete...

Hardiman2271d ago

I never played Persona 3 or 4 and would love to give them go after a Persona 5! Also one game I was blown away by back in the day was Eternal Darkness! I would love to see it get a proper Remake much like Shadow of the Colossus! I know Silicone Knights about no more but man that game was amazingly ahead of its time!

Teflon022271d ago

Persona 3 yeah, fine. Leave Persona 4 alone though. It got a great rerelease on Vita and I'm tired of Vita games being put on consoles. Let it breath a gen atleast and then give it a full on remake

eagle212270d ago

Super Mario Sunshine is one of my favorite games ever. PLEASE!!!!
