BitbyDeath3559d ago

Looks like Alone in the Dark.

-Foxtrot3559d ago

I'd play it

The Master of Shiv-locking

<Ellie's Bad Jokes>

gamercologyst3559d ago

i prefer the PS 1 graphic more than PS3-4

at least back in the day gameplay were more challenging.

R.I.P Console Hardcore Gaming i'll miss you

1983-2006

nowadays all these lazy devs are focusing to the casual.

dcj05243559d ago

You must not have a VITA lol. Plenty of hardcore games there.

kevinsheeks3558d ago

no one has a vita bazinga :P

levian3558d ago

Name a single one that isn't in an anime art style.

TheFinalEpisode3558d ago

You should really try the Dark Souls and Demon's Souls games, frustratingly hard yet fun somehow.

ape0073558d ago

yes the overall core game design and gameplay were a bit better in the old days but gaming is still awesome, u have modern classics like TLOU and GTA V, u have great online mp games like destiny and Titanfall, great indie games like shovel knight

TomahawkX3558d ago

graphics have nothing to do with gameplay and their are plenty of beautiful games that are challenging. Stop being over-dramatic and go play some more games.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3558d ago

"graphics have nothing to do with gameplay"

so graphics doesn't effect the performance of gameplay.

ifistbrowni3558d ago

TLOU Grounded difficulty is definitely targeting casuals /s

You obviously have never played TLOU on higher difficulties, I dont know why I even bothered replying to you.

Fez3558d ago

TLOU on Survival isn't that difficult. Most encounters you have the upper hand by the enemy being unaware of your location. The AI is pretty good but the enemies' fields of view is very narrow and can be exploited. Add to that the numerous checkpoints throughout the game and it isn't very difficult.

Older games often added difficulty in the worst possible ways - bad checkpoint system or none at all, sometimes coupled with bad controls, and usually absolutely no indication of where to go or what to do.

Nowadays, I prefer the easier and more fun modern games to the frustration I've found in older games. Playing Abe's Oddysee right now for example, where it is possible to get through a really tough section and have no way to save it until reaching a random area where it might or might not save your progress. Infuriating.

Kivespussi3558d ago

TLOU on survival is easy. Grounded mode is pretty challenging but oh boy - you have to pay for it.

Fez3558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

Never heard of grounded mode, sounds pretty cool... that would definitely increase the challenge!

tommygunzII3558d ago

There are challenging games out there it's just these days you have to find them. I can only imagine NES games with QTE's or slow motion features lol

MasterBassor3558d ago

oh man, im glad im not the only one, i totally agree with you, gaming died after 2006..
Next gen, where games last 5 hours, in those 5 hours 2 hours cut scenes, and one hour tutorials... next gen my ass.
games trying focus on being realistic and forget about being fun to play and forget about replayability
games focus on story, and adds linear gameplay to go along with the lame story.
games got easy, and forgot about being rewarding.
games focusing on multiplayer, ditching out single player.
games care about graphics and forget about good level design and you end up with many games looking the same
mario wanting to save the princess feels like a more engaging story than battlefield 4 story...

"press x to hide behind cover, enemies wont be able to shoot you", lol "kill death ratio bro"

remember the times we got stuck because the game requires you to think?
remember the feeling of being rewarded when you beat the boss and you have zero lives left?
remember playing the game over and over again just because its Fuc*ing awesome?

games that died with newer generations:
Resident Evil
Castlevania
Megaman
Ninja Gaiden
Duke Nukem
Medal of Honor
Banjo Kazooie
Splinter Cell
Fable
Tenchu
and many others..

happy next gen gaming ^^ hype the game for its graphics man

levian3558d ago

Terribly unpopular opinion but 100% true and factual.

There have been a couple great games in the last generation but not as many as you'd think. The rest were okay, decent games not worth more than $15 to me, or something that would have been better if you could rent it for a weekend

Mega243558d ago

Have you ever played an Elder Scrolls game? I love them for the freedom it gives the player to do what you want. Most players say "Oh the game is not challenging enough", Play them on the highest difficult from the start, its tough.

There are still games out there that are fun and complex, bring a level of difficulty and are challenging. It depends on the preference of some people, but I agree with your point of games being more casual.

MasterBassor3558d ago

Elder scrolls games, i agree, they are good, even tho Morrowind is by far my favorite, skyrim and oblivion are decent games. but there are no many other games that really are worth it.

but im not talking about just difficulty
im also talking about games being too linear lately, not rewarding, and too similar sometimes.

often i see unnecessary cutscenes that are pointless. hell many games' gameplay is becoming a cutscene (QTE)lol

and ffs, stop giving me tutorials about using the analog stick to walk, we are not that stupid, devs. or do they think so?

I just wish devs focus more on gameplay and not get distracted too much by how well the game looks or how many cut scenes they have to shove in the game to justify its poor length and gameplay, in the end we PLAY games, not watch them.

now off, need to buy that SNOOP DOG VOICE PACK DLC and the other FART DLC while my games finish patching /s lol

AcidKill3558d ago

Or... Maybe you should just grow your balls and play it on much higher difficulty.

I'm really tired of these "R.I.P Hardcore Gaming" and all that crap! Seriously, what a bunch of hippie yippie baloney! Knock it off, brah.

MegaRay3558d ago

The Last Of Us Series Has Remarkable Potential For Spin-Offs

Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."

anast74d ago

They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.

AlterRecs71d ago

I think this is in response to them releasing a remaster for the sequel, a game that didn't need a remaster.

Basically a "why did you put out a remaster no one asked for when you have all there options available"

anast71d ago

They remaster is to put out something quick while they are deving new stuff. I don't get how people can be so static.

AlterRecs70d ago

There's no news about a third game being in production, you're just assuming that they're working on something that they aren't

anast70d ago

When they release the news to start the hype-train, you can give me my props then.

DrDoomer74d ago

I want an alternate timeline spin-off, where part 2 never happened.

CrimsonWing6974d ago

They’ve already done Remasters of 1 and 2… what else is there to Remaster?

AlterRecs71d ago

Considering they remastered the first game twice, who knows lol

CrimsonWing6971d ago

That was a Remake. I guess they could do that to 2, but man…. They should wait a couple generations so it can look like a major upgrade.

The Last Of Us Online Devs Celebrate Their Experience With The Canceled Game

The team is sad for losing out on such a great project but celebrates its growth because of spending time on it.

Chocoburger118d ago

All they had to do was make a basic online mode like their previous games. Instead they wanted more money and choose to go live service which makes games worse in my opinion.

What a waste of time and money, what a shame.

seanpitt2374d ago

I can't wait for season 2 so they can kill Joel off in the first 2 episodes!! Then it will be just Abby and Ellies revenge plot!

Something is telling me that this won't happen though because it wouldn't make sense, oh wait

Linzoid118d ago

Not sure why they didn’t just make Factions 2. There was no need to make it a live service.

TLoU Factions was a great addition such a shame they couldn’t be bothered to remaster that for PS5 considering the crazy high price tag of the remaster of a remaster…

anast118d ago

This is something to be celebrated. This studio is smart and they get it, even factions 2 wouldn't've have been worth the time. I am surprised they didn't just remaster the first one though, but actually how popular was Factions?
