Destiny beta on Xbox One will not be running at 1080p, will reach 1080p by launch

Bungie has confirmed just now in the IGN live stream that the Destiny beta on Xbox One will not be running at 1080p. The game itself at launch will reach 1080p. Bungie’s Community Manager said that ‘there’s always time for improvement.’

I played titanfall the other day and screen tearing and frame rate issues have greatly improvement since launch. Games always get updated you know to a better build.

I bet Respawn could have upped the resolution if they wanted, but maybe they can't be bothered this late in the game. Resolution is more of a bigger deal to Sony fans to be honest.

90% of the time the Xbox One hits 1080p in cross gen games, it has framerate issue, tearing or is missing effects present in the PS4 version. Expect Destiny to be no different. It's a system problem, not a developer problem.

When mentioning the Xbox One's issues with multiplats is trolling, is hardly my fault. Pretty much ALL multiplats on Xbox One that are 1080p have framerate problems or are missing effects like AO or AA for example. The Xbox One beta has problems that weren't present in the PS4's alpha, like framerate problems (with no action going on or other characters to render on screen)

It will be 1080p, again it'll most likely be missing effects. The fact that its not 1080p yet, makes that a high probability. Just cause games say they're 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One, doesn't automatically mean they are completely even on all levels.

Also, beta's are for testing servers. Which is why MP games have them, not SP games. It has nothing to do with resolutions.

There is a reason v-synch isn't on by default. It has very serious consequences for framerate (idling until the next v-synch). So, yes, you can entirely eliminate the tearing but your framerate might drop by 20% or more (judging by the tears in that GIF).

I guess my disagrees were because I didn't comment about the article directly. Maybe it's because I indirectly compared 505 Games to Bungie, like Bungie can't get Destiny to 1080 on the One. I believe they can get to 1080 but there will be sacrifices, maybe not as many as Sniper Elite, but sacrifices that most likely won't be made for the PS4 version.
I have 19 indie games, AC4, and MGS: GZ for PS4 to 5 indie games and 15 AAA games on the Xbox One. Deciding to get Destiny for PS4 was/is a difficult choice but the PS4 is proving time and again that it is the better console as far as graphics are concerned. But buying Destiny for the Xbox One as well is not out of the question. If the Beta goes well for me, I thoroughly enjoy Destiny upon release, and many of my Xbox friends buy Destiny, then I may very well have Destiny on both consoles.

This has been known about for a while. The beta is an old build and the reason Bungie hit 1080p was because of the reserve gpu power for kinect has now been removed.

Its phenomenal that both versions will be 1080p at launch. 50 per cent power difference was always nonsense.

The PS4 is actually 50% more powerful, the problem is when you're talking about computers, 50% isn't some magically huge difference but it's clearly enough. The PS4 trumps the Xbox One in every department by fairly significant margins when your talking about hardware.

All you have to do is use math to see that it is actually 50% more powerful.

PS4's 1.84flop vs. Xbox One's 1.31flop = 28% difference.

PS4 1152 shaders vs. Xbox One's 768 shaders = 33% difference.

If you can't figure out percentages between two numbers, let me explain it for you people who clearly can't use simple math.

Teraflops

1.84 - 1.31 = 0.53

0.53 / 1.84 = 0.2880434782608696

0.2880434782608696 x 100 = 28%

Shaders

1152 - 768 = 384

384 / 1152 = 0.3333333333333333

0.3333333333333333 x 100 = 33%

That seems about 50% to me, the rest is pretty self explanatory, easy addition.

So if you people want to argue against the foundation in which we build our entire lives around be my guest because numbers don't lie. You can try all you want but the PS4 will always be 50% more powerful than the Xbox One because of its hardware.

Before you answer please keep in mind that any declaration of Frames Per Second is always understood as 'up to' unless we insert the word 'locked'.
To put this in perspective; there is not 1 triple "A" game released on the 360 or the PS3 that used the word 'locked' when communicating their frames per second.

I hope they reach 1080P but the games coming out on the 9th of September which means that it will go gold a few weeks before launch. There isn't much time left and if they implement 1080P into the XB1 version it will probably be through a patch.

while your times are all correct, beta's are typically older builds in most cases. I wouldn't doubt the X1 destiny beta is from a build from 2 months ago or older which would mean it doesn't have use of the June sdk update hence why its not 1080p.

Beyond that though, its their word in that they said at E3 it would be 1080p. Only Bungie themselves can be held accountable at this point.

Edit: This would also explain why the X1 install is slightly smaller than the PS4 install.

I'll tell you why this is. Destiny is the first game to take advantage of the 10% GPU thing. Bungie themselves said so. They probably haven't been able to fully apply it yet since it's fairly recent, so the beta isn't 1080, but the final game is. Just my thought.

Size is not really the only factor its also viewing distance. You will notice a difference on a 32' tv if you are closer the same as someone would notice on a 42' from a little further away.

So if you are on a 32' tv you will want to be > 5' away from the screen to get the best results where a 42' TV you could go up to 6'-7' and still get great results and notice.

I'm an xbox one owner and this kind of thing doesnt bother me in the slightest. I pre-ordered Destiny 2 days ago to get my beta code and will look forward to playing it on the 23rd.
