The game was actually pretty fun and it got about a 85 on the Metacritic scale. The user Metacritic was only 5.1 but I have to wonder, how many of those that reviewed it actually played the game?

I think this is where the problem lies when gamers feel entitled and get way too involved with the behind the scenes. We see it every day here on N4G how this company doesn't care about us, why this game is terrible, what is wrong with the industry. We've become complainers and whiners instead of just going into playing a game with an open mind. Maybe if we did that we'd get back to enjoying this hobby. Instead some seem to enjoy being critics, argumentative, and downright negative all day on the forums.

yeah all gamers do is whine and complain these days. yes sometimes they complain for good reasons like MS trying to con us with DRM or EA and they yearly microtranaction games with DLC but most of the other time gamers spend time complaining about a characters hair colour like they did with DmC.

I agree the game was pretty fun... Too many people got twat hurt over this game and over- reacted just like they do today about the smallest of crap and it's not going to change because most people nowadays are self entitled asses. I liked how they showed how his hair was then turns into the white at the end, I liked the new attitude because the old one was corny as hell, etc etc. Face it games have been being downgraded and haven't had the same spark for awhile now but yet this game is like cancer in videogame form and it wasn't, it was a decent game. I remember seeing how many a$$holes on this site degrading others for liking it for any reason.

I love how people try to say if you like this game you're casual or a noob etc but the funny thing is all that's not even remotely true seeing how I ( others included) played, beat and loved all the originals when they first came out ( got em day 1 too) so how does that make me a noob or casual? What is fact is that people who jump on the bandwagon just because other morons do it are sheep plain and simple. People who attack others online especially for their preference are childish pu$$ies with no life. People who wish any game to fail is a child without a single mature trait about them. These are the people that have the most negative things to say about a decent game ( you can find some of them in this very thread) . Was the game everything I was hoping for? No. Was it downgraded like infamous:ss, gow ascension, KZ:SF, bf4 etc ? I kind of feel bad for Ninjas Theory, they make fantastic games that dont sale. Heavenly sword was awesome, so was Enslaved. DMC I didn't play, I hear its good, but gosh damn that horrid Dante design. I hope the rumor is true about Heavenly Sword sequal, and I hope NT is working on it.

I would forgive them if the released a DMC collection complete with all 4 original games fully remastered in 1080p 60fps with trophy support and a full re-calibration of DMC to be more true to its roots a 'Fan Service' edition if you like at 1080p 60fps no less priced at 50 bucks max!

I liked DmC. I can certainly understand why some people liked the originals more. I liked the weapons, level design and combos more in DmC. I certainly don't think it warrants a next gen version though

DmC is a great game, I would guess that many that don't like is just because of the character change and because of that made it cool to hate the game. Also many probably didn't even play it to know if it was a good or bad game.

I mean, I played through a mission without ever blocking and even forgot to change weapons as needed a few times. Almost got killed. Got stuck at one point. Just a typical casual playthrough for the hey of it.

It's pretty laughable, honestly, because it had no competition in January. They even released it earlier than intended, but it still sold poorly.

The DMC HD Collection sold better as well, further cementing the fact, that this was destined to fail.

There's a few prime examples as to why gamers and the games industry arent taken seriously and the baby, bratty b****ing that surrounded this game might of been the best example. Entitled brats decided months before this game even hit shelves that they were going to oppose it simply because it didn't fit their narrow minded vision of a franchise they felt they owned.

It's called buyer beware and it applies to EVERY game out there. This game was also a reboot, meaning they can change things up if they wish to bring new fans in. They don't have to be tied down to a set formula just because of the name. A reboot allows them to go in new directions. Again, you're making it sound like this game was terrible, it was far from that. You just need to be open minded and not come into it with a bias and predetermined vision of what YOU think they should do with the ip.

The XB1 plays games just like the way games do on the PS4. You buy a disc or buy it online and away you go. It's because companies like Capcom like to milk these games for all they're worth. It's easier to drain money from folks by re-releasing slightly old games than it is to provide some form of upgrade program where you don't have to pay full price a second time.

I didn't think so. I can understand people enjoying DMC and DMC3 more than the reboot. The reboot was quite a bit different but I personally enjoyed it. Was it the best in the series? Probably not. But it definitely wasnt the worst. To me DMC2 and DMC4 will always hold that title. I think DMC4 was one of the laziest developed games ever. And I was so disappointed with all the back tracking and unanswered questions. Combat was mostly good though(even though it felt like it didn't change much from 3).

DMC is the only Devil May Cry game I never finished. I hatted the Gameplay. I was a fan of 1-4. With 4 having a special place in my heart. But DMC was shit. I like Ninja Theory so this is not easy for me to say. Capcom wake the F*(k up before you lose all your fan base.

The fact of the matter is, when it comes down to it, DmC was a fine game and a nice reboot, which is something we don't get very often. Did Ninja Theory handle the game poorly from a PR perspective, making excuses left and right? Yes they did, but don't blame the game for "tarnishing" Devil May Cry's legacy.

I'm a huge DMC fan and have played every game in existence (yes including 2), and if anything DmC revitalized the franchise. Had Capcom continued internal development it would have suffered greatly, just look at Devil May Cry 4, good/ok game yes, great game? Not even close. If anything you should chastise Ninja Theory for their arrogance. DMC was their biggest IP since Heavenly Sword and they weren't afraid to let the world know it. So please let's distinguish bad PR from bad game development, people confusing the two is getting out of hand.

OT: I don't really have a problem with 6th gen HD remakes, but this PS3/360 HD port to PS4/XO thing is annoying and unnecessary for right now.

If you are a huge DMC fan then you should know it wasn't about the character redesign, and I don't think it revitalized the franchise seeing as it sold less than DMC 4, and while it is a good game, it's not a good DMC.
If Capcom wanted to attract new costumers they should've release it as a new IP.

I don't think Capcom deserves the hate for DMC, i never played it but it seems like a legit reboot to create a newer story. The problem is Capcom hasn't made that many new games and ignores fans clamoring for a remakes of their older titles that they love so much. Granted, they've had Remember Me, Asura's Wrath, and a few other interesting games come out, so they are being creative. But they don't run a "signature franchise" that hooks an audience in every few years and keeps their attention.

I have played both the old DmC's and the reboot.

They are both really good games.

I did prefer the old games from an art and environment point of view though. DmC 4 had especially strong art and environment.

I felt the reboot lacked the character and flair of previous DmCs. It felt generic instead of distinctive.

I loved DmC, & I love Ninja Theory, I have ALL there games on PS3, & bought them when new. HS was absolutely dynamite, & Enslaved was also a top quality, fun game that I enjoyed finishing... The best thing Capcom did was give the series to Ninja Theory... Otherwise I believe it would have died, as the effort before that in DMC4, was a backtrack, snorefest, & obviously sold accordingly, thus screaming for new blood & a fresh take on the series. Now Capcom should hand over Streetfighter to a new developer, so as they can bring it, kicking, screaming & dragon punching into the world of 3D fighters... Get the Square guys that made Tobal 1&2 onto the case.

This doesn't sound like a very smart move. I didn't know Capcom had the money to do this? I thought they were selling off their stock. Does this mean that nobody is buying or making any deals? Or is Capcom really not in that big of trouble? If DmC: Devil May Cry didn't sell the first time, which to me wasn't all that impressive graphically because--in my opinion--Unreal Engine 3 sucks anyway, then this isn't going to benefit it either.

Sounds like a bad move but, desperate times will make ya do desperate things but, Capcom are just throwing money away they should he investing. In all fairness, I hear the game is pretty rad. Got it as a free download on PS Plus, and what little I played was fun but, not looked pretty bad. Again Unreal Engine 3 to blame. Will see I guess. Financially it makes zip sense though.
