It should be at least a moderate success based off the name alone. Casual shooter gamers probably don't even know who Carmack is.

If it's as fun as Wolfenstein reboot, then I'll be OK with that.
Wolfenstein has been a pleasant surprise. I went in with zero expectations and it's been awesome. After Doom 3 I have similarly low expectations for the Doom reboot.
Not every game needs to be as sophisticated as Far Cry.
Why wouldn't Doom be a success? Wolfenstein has already proven that there is a demand for this type of FPS.
