I love how Sony collabed with Miyazaki for a new experince, thank you Yoshida:)

@Alex

Agreed!

Alexious3592d ago

It's a really good idea. Personally I hope the game departs quite a bit from Demon/Dark Souls, I'm not the biggest fan of those games.

Yui_Suzumiya3592d ago

I just hope it's not as difficult. Maybe along the same lines as The Last of Us as far as the survival aspects and everything.

bouzebbal3592d ago

PlayStation is all about variety and this just one more proof of it

NextLevel3592d ago

"Personally I hope the game departs quite a bit from Demon/Dark Souls"

It's not going to be that different. Aside from having no shield, no magic and being more challenging. Which is great, in my opinion.

Anyone getting excited thinking this is going to be a different/easier experience than the souls series, needs to revaluate. I can tell you just from watching the leaked trailer, it's made to punish players (like myself) who got to good at the previous games.

odderz3592d ago

Sony is making the right choices.

rdgneoz33592d ago

@NextLevel Yep, the game is going to be just as punishing, if not more. In the souls series you could play defensive, wait for the enemy to attack and react. This one seems to make you have to go on the offensive from the start, trying to avoid getting destroyed while not having a shield to save your hide.

AKS3592d ago

I wonder if the offensively oriented dual wielders of Dark Souls 2 will have an easier time adapting to Bloodborne. I may put some more time into trying a more aggressive style and see how it goes. I do some 2-handing, but I also like to have a good shield for some circumstances.

UltraNova3591d ago

Why make another Demon Souls when you have that need already covered with the Dark Souls series? Its a 100% sure thing we'll see DS 3 on next gen consoles! This way they avoid sales polarization from one IP to the other and keeping things fresh at the same time.

Very smart move from Sony-From.

I for one can't wait, this game will have the best of demon souls and dark souls series plus new features

2015 is gonna be huge 1st/2nd party wise for sony:

Bloodborne
the order 1886
Uncharted 4
Ratchet and clank remake

i am sure we will get more announcements at gamescom and tgs

Back-to-Back3591d ago

I might be the minority, but I would have rather saw Miyazaki make a Demons Souls 2 rather than a new IP. I love Demons Souls

kaiserfranz3592d ago

Demon's Souls 2 wouldn't have made much such sense, honestly, since Dark Souls is practically the same thing. Bloodborne looks interesting although it's still very similar, I would have preferred something more like Otogi

Festano3592d ago

I agree, it would be nice to see a game similar to Otogi.

DragonKnight3592d ago

Dark Souls is not the same thing. Lol.

Ignorance like that is what makes me ask if you played Demon's Souls at all.

rdgneoz33592d ago (Edited 3592d ago )

Dark Souls was the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. They couldn't put Demon's Souls 2 on the 360, because Sony helped with the first one.

From wiki: "developed primarily by From Software with assistance from SCE Japan Studio exclusively for the PlayStation 3. It was released in Japan on February 5, 2009 and published by Sony Computer Entertainment"

Demons was separated into levels, while dark was more open world. Both required similar strategy for mobs / bosses - don't rush or you'll get brutally punished. That punishment has been consistent over time, rush and you die. They both also had a form of online integration (notes, invasions, co-op help), though it has changed over time with the series. Both also had the living and hollow form, used souls for currency to level / improve gear, similar crafting / gear improvement system, similar character models, combat mechanics, ...

Though Demon's Souls world tendency was interesting.

DragonKnight3592d ago

You don't need to explain Demon's Souls to me, I've owned it since launch.

I misworded my post though. I meant to say not 'exactly' the same. They were very similar, but there are some key differences.

dudeOplenty3592d ago

"It's nice to meet you." "We've meet before." "Ah, that's right. I meant it was nice to meet you that time that I met you."

Nice save.

My_Name_BTW_Is_Dante3592d ago

Demon's Souls is nothing like the crappy cash-in spinoff they made of it (dark souls). I'd rather have Demon's Souls 2 over a couple of crappy spinoffs. dark souls didn't need a sequel anyway as even the story to the game was trash.

The 7 Best Souls-Like Games - Mastering the Challenge

The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?

toxic-inferno17d ago

Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.

kevco3317d ago

Still DS1? You don't feel it's been surpassed yet?

Demon's Souls has the remake of course, but DS1 has surely been outdated?

Smellsforfree17d ago

I think that the DS1 remake is better looking than DS2. The interior lighting matched with the low resolution textures in DS2 is very garish, IMO.

Besides graphics, what do you mean by DS1 being "outdated"? I'm someone who played through Elden Ring and just recently played through the DS series, and as far as gameplay went, there were all very similar.

Cacabunga17d ago

I haven’t played many but Bloodborne and NIOH1 are on top of my list.. had a blast with these 2

toxic-inferno16d ago

For world design and interconnectedness (that's a word, right?) DS1 is yet to be beaten.

9 Years Later, Does Bloodborne Deserve All The Praise It Gets?

Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."

jznrpg18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne

thorstein18d ago

I literally replayed it recently and it's better than I remember. I think it's like going back to a beloved book and noticing things I hadn't before.

raWfodog18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yo! I was getting ready to reply with the exact same four words you started with lol. Yes, I think Bloodborne has withstood the test of time and remains a great game. That’s why all the fans are hoping for a sequel someday. Hoping that we can catch that magic again with a new storyline.

Leeroyw18d ago

Yes. Just replayed it a few days ago. My first Platinum. And yes. I rage quitted so many times and called it BS too when I started. It's tight. The combat is amazing and the lore is rich.

GamingSinceForever18d ago

Elden Ring was easier? I don’t know about that at all. I remember leveling up in Bloodborne and breezing through it. In Elden Ring no matter how powerful I got I was still catching a beat down from every boss.

thorstein18d ago

That's due to scaling enemies. I remember not doing Haligtree untill near the end and having enemies withstand almost a full blast from Azur's Glintstone Staff Comet Azure. My level was quite high.

Melee characters are not fun in that game, especially for the Elden Beast.
