Transistor Developer Heads to Oculus

VRFocus - Indie developer Supergiant Games recently celebrated the release of its second ever title, Transistor. The PlayStation 4 and PC action videogame was met with praise from both critics and fans alike when it launched in May 2014. Now that it's finished, one of the team's key members, senior programmer Chirs Jurney, has decided to move on from the developer and head to Oculus VR, the company behind the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset.

Transistor in Oculus Rift? An intriguing combination.

Oculus Ruft is now like one of these football teams that are financed by Russians or Arabians who buy any player they want with their Gas/Oil money.

Lol good analogy. They just soak up any1 with talent it seems

You was better off using the heat as a example. All star basketball team. They are picking up talent from everywhere can't wait to see what vr games they make. People still gonna hate tho. We know why

OrangePowerz3599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

I live in the UK and I'm not into basketball or most other US sports plus Heat lost againsy the Spurs. Besides of that football, or for Americans soccer, is more fitting because they don't have caps to work around that limits them on what they can spend as a maximum on salaries to prevent a team from buying all the best players. For Facebook football (soccer) is more fitting because they can just spend as much as they want. Also keep in mind the company making Oculus Rift isn't really a game developer, they are a hardware manufacturer and that makes hiring all these people very strange.

I suppose people aren't big fans of them because it was a Kickstarter project and without Kickstarter and the support of the community they would have never gotten rich by selling out to Facebook. I wouldn't turn down a 2 billion offer, but I would still recognise that I only got there because of the community and I would try to give something back to the backers who are partially responsible for the success.

Lol I just had a blonde moment yea that was a perfect analogy

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook7348d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

Knushwood Butt349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal349d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

ApocalypseShadow349d ago

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal349d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Knushwood Butt348d ago

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.

Although I never owned an oculus, I played the demo for this at an electronics store. Pretty impressive in an early goings of VR title.
