I'm interested to see how June's numbers come out and if the PS4 can keep up it's domination. MSFT is banking on the $399 SKU doing well but I for one still haven't seen anything that I want on Xbone that I can't play on the PS4 or PC. Have no interest in Halo either unless they gave the whole collection free to XBL subscribers.

I actually saw the post. It was Larry Hryb who gave them the offer. It was basically bait. Larry knows NeoGAF is a Sony PR site, and that was proven during Sony's E3 presentation. Funny stuff. The biggest thing to take from this, cross gen games are killing it on next gen. Take note publishers. Don't hold your game back because you don't want to ignore that huge userbase. People are buying on next gen, this gen went at least a year too long and we are buying with or wallets.

I feel like people who went out to buy new consoles are more than willing to go out and buy new games for them versus the people who have an entire library of old games to sift through. Seems like common sense really but of course publishers only see the install base.

I think a lot of people waited for next gen. Cross-gen is a given in the last year of a consoles life, and the first year of a new one. Some people just don't invest in the older console anymore either through becoming bored with it, or just wanting a better experience down the road.

All I know is that there is still a lot of games coming out for PS3 this year, and at least early into next. My backlog will never go away.:(

I think the industry has known for quite some time that the 'hardest' of the hardcore gamers are individuals whom are day 1 buyers of both hardware and software. Likely the same subset of gamers whom preordered a new generation console are the same who purchase new games day one or have preordered.

I believe that is the primary reason Next gen sales are often higher for the first month of a multiplat game(s).

Maths helps. Xbox has sold roughly 62% the number of consoles of PS4. PS4 sold 575000 copies, Xbox sold 362500 copies... so Xbox sells 63% the number of Watch_dogs copies as the PS4. It's entirely proportional.

Using a highly anticipated multiplatform game, sold equally in porportion to console numbers, as a means to disprove the fact that Xbox has a marginally higher game uptake is laughable.

Good to see Watch Dogs doing so well. I have yet to actually buy it myself though. Just can't afford it yet but I will be getting it soon. I really cannot wait for Destiny though and if Watch Dogs sold that much better on PS4 over XBOX One then the numbers for Destiny will most likely show an even larger gap since all the advertising is being done for the PS4 version. It also should help the PS4 sales because of the Destiny bundle and I wouldn't be surprised if Destiny is the big must have game for this holiday over even COD.

After playing the Alpha I couldn't agree with you more.... I certainly know I'll be picking up Destiny over any other FPS coming out this year. In fact after playing the Alpha I wonder to myself if it is even possible for games like COD to stay relevant anymore. Destiny feels like the future of FPS.

I think companies really will have to start rethinking how they handle MP and SP in FPS games. I know many skip the SP in COD and do nothing but MP all the time. For me that got old after awhile. With Destiny I love how everything is so mixed together. If you want to go off on your own you can, want to do some great Co-Op you can do that too, and then if you want PvP that is there but it also can help you unlock higher ranks and other loot you can use back in the other parts of the game. That to me is a great way to make sure people invest time in every aspect of the game and really gives people good value for their money.

Why not try the game out before you make a judgement on it? I too didn't think much of it when I first saw it being shown. The concept intrigued me but I was kind of tired of FPS so it wasn't something I thought I would be into. After having played just the little bit they gave us in the Alpha I can say I enjoyed every second I was playing it. I cannot wait for the full game to come out because I know I will be playing every single bit of it. Even the PvP stuff has me wanting to play more.

As for the micro transactions. Bungie already stated they want to give everyone the same full experience for the price of the game and won't be doing the Pay For Power bull other companies do to their games.

When a console sells more, that leads to more developer interest and support, it also just leads to a more secure future for that said console.

If I bought something for "X" amount of money that ended up never selling anything and it just gets discontinued shortly after, it matters then. Basically money wasted on something that didn't even last, so the better something sells that you yourself invested money in, is always a good thing.

I mean you are free to not care but I care about the future of the products I spend my money on. I buy them specifically for that future, consoles in general are always bought with the prospect of their future offerings in mind.

He said the Xbox forfeited May NPD to Playstation in result of the unbundling of the Kinect (So you're not even gonna put up a fight? You're gonna lay there and take it??) ...That June will be where Xbox catches up to playstation, or so he hopes.

I am shocked PS4 is doing so well. MS did screw up big time unfortunately. I love my X1 and all its features, its a shame about the performance gap as I know that's a deciding factor for many.
Also the price originally didn't help. I know some of my friends are getting X1 for Halo, I think there will be a huge sales spike then because nobody can deny that Halo does have a huge fanbase.
Enough to catch up? Probably not, but it doesn't matter to me - I have both consoles and as long as they keep getting supported Im happy.
