Here Are the Secret Areas of the Destiny Alpha

If you’re on Facebook or Twitter then you know that nearly everyone has been playing and loving the Destiny Alpha. Though the portion of the game that’s in the alpha is sizable, there is a lot more to it and some secret areas have been found.

I had to stop playing b/c I was getting hooked and despite knowing it was an alpha, part of me hoped I could just find ways to keep playing. The wait will be terrible. I dont know if I will put myself through this again in July.

christian hour3594d ago

I know exactly how you feel. Dont think I can have my heart broken twice over destiny in the space of a month, september feels so far away too. I'm torn!

TheFutureIsBlue3594d ago (Edited 3594d ago )

Me and some buddies tried climbing that giant tree at The Tower to see if we could get a peek over the wall lol. Then we tried finding ways to get over it. Sadly we failed. Did anyone else go through the area where they have shown most of the gameplay videos of Old Russia?

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watc... This area. No enemies came up though.

kneon3594d ago

I went to old Russia a few times but there were never any enemies there.

I found all the secret areas mentioned in the article plus some smaller ones not mentioned.

ICANPLAYGAMES23594d ago

I've found all of these areas as well, plus I've been reviving a ton of those guide things (your companion orb) all over the place (so far at least one in every area), what do they do?

christian hour3593d ago

@icanplaygames2 They just unlock grimoires as far as I can tell which yuou can check out on

alpha.bungie.net

but this is bungie after all... anyone know if you find them all, then walk a lap backwards through all of old russia, then hopscotch across all those rusted cars, before hitting a complex button combination, does it unlock a skull?!

Classic Bungie.

isa_scout3594d ago

I know because I feel the same way, but at the same time I won't be able to wait knowing that other people are enjoying the beta. This is the first game I've played that had a real next-gen feel to it. Crazy ambitious, and after playing this Alpha I think Bungie may well have made the most robust well realized FPS ever.... Who would've thought that Halo,Mass Effect and MMO gameplay would mix so damn good.

kneon3594d ago

I'm still on the fence despite putting a lot of hours into the alpha and maxing out all 3 classes.

The one aspect I just can't get over is how easy the gun play is. I shouldn't be able to master 6-8 weapons in just a few hours such that it's rare that I don't get a head shot. I normally give up on a game once it's gotten too easy and I feel like I'm already there.

DARK WITNESS3593d ago

Come on mate..

Your on the fence because you think it's going to be too easy after head shotting level 6 enemies all day?

Thats like me saying I am not sure about getting skyrim because I tried a demo and the only enemies were mud crabs and I could one hit everything.

you really going to judge the game off such a limited experience?

moomoo3193594d ago

Not only is it sizable its freakin huge. I think a cool touch is not giving the player a world map. Makes the exploration fun and mysterious.

TheFutureIsBlue3594d ago

At first I thought it was stupid, but yeah, I agree. The more I played it the more of an explorer I started to feel like.

Jeff2573594d ago

I didn't find all those areas but I did find the area from the first demo. It felt so awesome finding out it was there. Later I led a couple of my friends there and the whole time we were talking about how amazing the Alpha had been. The fact that it is just a small part of the full game and yet it had so many areas in it and so much to do was mind-blowing. I really cannot wait for the beta just to see what else is added and I know once the full game hits I will be spending most of my gaming time with this game. I am even looking forward to playing more of the PvP and I have been focusing more on SP games lately because I got so tired of the same MP stuff in other shooters.

All I can say is that I miss the game already and cant wait till final release. Destiny was barely on my radar but after playing nonstop all weekend on a damn Alpha im beyond hyped for this game.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter325d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell324d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig325d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast325d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g325d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka325d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai476d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface475d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard473d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
