Sony and Nintendo both put up a good fight this year. Who came out on top?
If you were a 90s kid excited about Nintendo’s upcoming N64 console, you likely read something somewhere about the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive, also known as the 64DD or DD64.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.
I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.
If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .
The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.
If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.
Doesn't matter to me
Owning as PS4/Wii U combo is the way to go.
Why does a certain fanbase always feel the need to compare themselves to another fanbase? Inferiority complex?
I'm happy my PS4 sits peacefully next to my Wii U and my Xbox One. And just below them on a different shelf is a 360 and... a modified Atari 2600.
That Smash Tournament and its roars pretty much knocked it out of the freaking park.
No other audience at E3 even came CLOSE to being as loud or fun to cheer with...
The Treehouse Live live demonstrations of every game with the exception of the Legend of Zelda and Starfox, has my hype meter on full. Nintendo delivered.
I have my Wii U but I'll wait for PS4 & Vita to have more RPG games. Then I will buy their systems.
