Who Won E3? From the Worst to the Best of 2014′s Shows

The big events of E3 2014 are over. Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Sony, and Nintendo have all presented their visions for the future of gaming. The show was a great win for us gamers, showcasing a decent ratio of new IPs to familiar but noticeably-improved sequels. Hardware took a backseat as us consumers were told why we should consider buying the latest and greatest consoles. But how did each of the big five stack up? Did they each live up to our expectations?

Zelda going back to its roots won E3 imo. Best news of E3 for me.

TheFinalEpisode3606d ago

Yup, Nintendo 'won' E3 in my opinion. Can't wait for Smash Bros either!

rodiabloalmeida3606d ago (Edited 3606d ago )

The correct answer is: Gamers won the E3. Simple as that.

Skips3606d ago (Edited 3606d ago )

MS's was flat in the first half because all the multiplat focus (games that'll probably be better on PS4 and definitely PC).

Sony's fell when they started talking about Comics/TV (Thank god not the ENTIRE conference), but they had on extra 30 min over MS.

MS's was pretty much better paced, but overall WOW factor goes to Sony (DAT UNCHARTED 4 IN ENGINE @_@)...

Not to mention Sony is known to save things for Gamescom and TGS in which MS rarely show ANYTHING at. lol

ABizzel13606d ago

Nobody won.

A 1 minute Zelda tease, a 1 minute Uncharted tease, and a CG Halo 5 tease while all highly anticipated don't win E3. None of those shows were truly stellar, all 3 were solid showings though.

If there has to be a winner it was Ubisoft.

Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed Unity, The Division, The Crew, and Rainbow Six all impressed.

NewMonday3606d ago (Edited 3606d ago )

Bloodborn, U4, Grim Fandango, No Mans Sky, the spiritual sequel to Journey and the Batmobile won E3.

Nintendo had a good show but only fans would call them the winners, the amount of games on the Sony show is massive you woild need to play the show in slow mition to count them, and almost non of them is coming the the WiiU

"The correct answer is: Gamers won the E3. Simple as that."

Come on now that cheesy answer is boring ;)

However I gotta say for once we're seeing a fairly wide opinion on who won which is surprising. Yesterday it was all Sony won and now everyone appears really split.

Perhaps for once each of the Big three had something great to show?

"Nintendo had a good show but only fans would call them the winners"

How is that any different from what your doing exactly? I would say out of the big 3 I have a bias towards Ninty and Seeing Smash bros, Zelda and Xenoblade was was awesome. If someone sees those and declares them the winners because they love those games, is that wrong?

How is that different to you having the same excitement after seeing Uncharted, The order 1886 and Bloodborne and then declaring them the winners?

Microsoft should have left them stay 3rd party

GamerRN11h ago

If they are let go, they can be whatever they want. They ARE 3rd party now... 🤦

Barlos8h ago

Yeah, they're also jobless.

GamerRN1h ago

They can form a company if they want, they are just as jobless as if "Microsoft had left them as 3rd party".

peppeaccardo3h ago

"MIcrosoft leaves Bethesda do what they know how to do best" ... close! Oh the irony ....
(Citation from a week old article)

PassNextquestion13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Bethesda France was made up of roughly 15 people... they couldn't of being doing much

Bethesda France mainly did publishing and marketing within the region

blacktiger11h ago

that's a shame for you to say that, i'm sure Elite loves hearing what you just said.

Profchaos13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.

I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games

Tacoboto13h ago

It's France too, there's a high likelihood only 1-2 people on the team even had an Xbox.

Profchaos12h ago

Possibly guven all the leaks we know the Xbox brand is really struggling in the region.

Yi-Long9h ago

Well, if your consoles and games are barely found in any stores any more, of course you're gonna struggle finding consumers ...

XiNatsuDragnel12h ago

Tbh Microsoft I think Bethesda being 3rd party same with Activision would probably more competitive than thus scenario imo

Profchaos10h ago(Edited 10h ago)

I think it would have been better for all parties really especially gamers

TheColbertinator11h ago

The recently purchased Activision French offices might take over all the licensing and marketing for Microsoft in France from now on.

Sony Could Increase Your Game's Difficulty If It Sees You Complain About It

Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.

jznrpg14h ago

This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.

Profchaos14h ago

Souls games will be like that players struggling make it harder

PassNextquestion13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

I think if used correctly it could work well

jambola9h ago

cool idea
cool idea for horror games especially
the way it's explained here sounds like it could never be forced hopefully, so that's ok with me

Ubisoft's Recent Antics Have Me Fearful For The Sands of Time Remake

Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.
