Nice trailer but gameplay would suffice.

AKissFromDaddy3623d ago

I don't know what's a VN. What is it?

CrimsonAzure3623d ago (Edited 3623d ago )

It's like Blazblue's story but without the fighting gameplay. I played a bit of it yesterday and liked it more than I thought I would. It has lots of subtle references to Blazblue and gives you insight on some of the events leading up to the games. Imo a must-have for any Blazblue fan, but I wouldn't know about it really catching on with others. Great story so far.

AKissFromDaddy3623d ago

Aww. I've lost interest. It came across as a fighter.

Inception3623d ago

@akissfromdaddy

There's a demo on PSN for PS3 & vita, you should check it first. And no, this is a prequel for BlazBlue that explained everything. So it's a right decision to made it as visual novel rather than a fighting game. Even ArcSys made story mode in BlazBlue: CS Extend more like a visual novel.

Beautiful trailer, can't wait for gameplay.

I_am_Batman3623d ago

It's a visual novel. I wouldn't expect too much out of it.

chaosdemon093623d ago

Ugh why didn't they make this a fighting game..the characters look awesome..I guess there testing waters

AKissFromDaddy3623d ago (Edited 3623d ago )

Agreed. It looks like a fighter,...coming from Arc Systems Works...

I hope that story is really good and enveloping.

Is that title the result of a dumb translator or weird dev team?

Crazy to think we're getting a console Visual Novel physical release in the US. So happy VN's are starting to get released over here finally.

Inception3623d ago (Edited 3623d ago )

Yeah i'm happy too. VN got more spotlight in the US since Prof Layton, 9 door 9 person 9 hours (Zero Escape prequel), Ace Attorney, and Corpse Party got localized. Since than, more and more VN got localized like Hakuoki, Zero Escape, DanganRonpa 1 & 2, Steins;Gate, and now this Xblaze.

VN popularity in the US even gave some effect to point and click genre to popular again. I never hope that games like Broken Sword will be released for Vita, but lo and behold it did.

I expect more VN got localize like Fate/Stay Night (the new remake anime will be airing soon), Robotic;Notes, etc.

OT. I already tried Xblaze demo on vita and it's very good. Can't wait to get my hands on the full version.

Review: Xblaze Code: Embryo (PC) | Digitally Downloaded

Review by Mikhail M.

Over the last few months, a lot of Japanese game publishers and developers have been dipping their toes into the PC platform via Steam. Aksys was one, publishing the Arc System Works-developed visual novel Xblaze Code: Embryo on Steam recently and while it's fun, it also has enough flaws that hold it back from what I’ve come to expect from both Arc System Works and visual novels.

XBlaze Code: Embryo - PC Review | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:

I am absolutely terrible at fighting games which is why I was intrigued when Arc System Works announced that they were making a Visual Novel in the BlazBlue universe. Always having had interesting stories and characters between this and the older running series of Guilty Gear, being able to experience the narrative elements without having to literally fight for it was a treat in and of itself.
