April's Xbox One Firmware Update: Here's What The New Friends Online Notification Looks Like

Nice, im glad we will be able to turn off friend notifications. I will have them on at all times apart from if i want to sit down and really immerse myself in a game, i would turn them off before hand and then just re-enable them when im done.

But that should already be a "feature" of the console, same goes for the PS4 too. All these basic features that are still missing.....

Ya I was kind of shocked how much both are missing, not getting a notification on PS4 when a friend gets on is kind of odd. They have notifications for just about everything else but not that. I know all that will come down the road though so its not an issue. I expect them both to get some major updates later this year after E3.

I will be turning the notification off unless it is favorites only cause out of the 90 or so friends on my list, I'm only curious if a few of them are online. It sucked on my 360 cause I had to turn ALL notifications off and decided it was worth not hearing the awesome achievement sound than to keep getting annoyed by constant friend notifications.

Well just from what I read in your comment. Not having it is not a big deal since you turn it off! Is it that distracting that you had to turn it off? It only comes for a few secs! Maybe I just dont mind it I guess.

Its not really an issue just find it funny it was not there is all. Its all minor stuff. Both of the OS's are very good.

Clearly you didn't read my comment properly. I said it will be on at *all times* APART from if i want to play something uninterrupted (like a singleplayer game). Calm down with all those exclamation points and mind your own business, lmao.

When this feature gets added to the PS4, I'll be turning it off instantly. It was annoying enough only having the 100 people on your friends the PS3 allowed; can you imagine that with six or seven hundred?

When I want to see who's online, I'll go look at the list.

If you can set groups and then only see when certain groups are online that would be better as there are certain people I would like to see when online like my brother etc..

If the ps4 version is anything like the xb1 version, you would choose to only get notifications when your favorite people sign on, not everyone in your list.

Nice to have the options though.. And with the Xbox One giving you the option to only see when your "favorites" come online, I don't really see any downsides

When are they bringing avatars to the X1? It's bad enough there's no support to migrate my old 360 avatar to the X1, but I really want the ability to create a new one, using the tech in the new Kinect Sports Rivals game.

Ours there go to your profile. It's in the section where you choose your gamer pic. You have the option to use your avatar.

That's not what I mean...I'm talking about a true, animated, customizable avatar, just like on the 360....not the gamer pic. I already have my profile/gamer pic set to my old avatar.
