Lol. This is the silliest thing I've heard in a long time. You can buy a ps4 and ps plus and get a bunch of free games and a lot of free to play games vs getting an expensive xbox one with titanfall. Until the xbox one is 50 percent cheaper than the ps4 it can never be a good value in my opinion. Ps4 is over 50 percent more powerful with the amazing ps plus as option which is way better than xbl.

Unless a ps4 is not working correctly and is being sold at an inflated price the xbox one is never a better deal. If you only want to play titanfall you can get a pc or xbox 360. If you want an Xbox One and Titanfall, the $450 is a great deal. If you are looking for a PS4 and Infamous, you are still looking at $460. The buy in price for both consoles with their hottest game is pretty much the same today. If you are also in the market for either companies camera, the Xbox One becomes the better deal since it is included in the box. It all depends on what you are looking for.

@Death but you do need Live to play Titanfall, you don't need PS+ to play Infamous. So you have to factor in the price.

If you add in the PS4 Camera, then they stay the same overall, but since the Camera is an option, the PS4 works out as the better deal.

Now when Titanfall 2 rolls around and it releases on the PS4, then you have to factor in PS+ pricing as well.

Yes, if you want to play online with either console you have to factor in the subscription. The Titanfall bundle does include a 1 month subscription for free so if you want to get more than a month out of Titanfall you will need to subscribe. For $450 though you can grab the bundle and play when you get home at no extra charge.

@miku...PS+ on the PS4 is severely lacking in the free games as compared to the PS3. So while you comment about sign up for "ps plus and get a bunch of free games and a lot of free to play games" is valid...it is also slightly off target.

Currently on the PS store i can find 2 free games (Resogun and Dead nation) listed for PS4 as well as 4 free to play for the PS4. PS3 has much more to offer in both regards (12+ for ea.).

One system costs $450 and you get a free game. Another system costs you $460 with a game. And if you want the camera, add more onto the PS.

I really shouldn't have too, but I know I still do for those hard headed & stubborn enough to possibly disagree somehow...see the additional things you get with a subscription to PS+ (MANY free games on multiple systems, access to the multiplayer on that 1 game as denoted in the article and so on) make it an even BETTER value.

So in either case (with or without the cost of a subscription based service) it's clear that fundamentally the "value" is with a PS4...and that is what the SPECIFIC topic in the article was trying to convey, albeit incorrectly since all the facts were not presented properly. Lastly (and to finish off all the points the article writer tried to skew in favor of the XB1) the PS4 camera is NOT key for the system to function whereas the Kinect IS for the Xbox One design. Thus it is not a factor to begin with.

Whats not really being said is that we all pretty much know its the kinect thats hiked up the x1's price. The thing is many people dont see value in that. If the ps eye attach rate was even over 50 percent you could understand the writer factoring its cost into his argument but it isnt. Not everybody wants a camera.

The difference is, Xbox one would require XBL gold before ps4 in this instance.
The free to play games on ps4 do not need PS+ to play online, and the ps4 streaming video apps, and story driven games are possible to play without PS+.

XBL still blocks almost all apps from working unless you have payed for gold.
You can still play your single player games on Xbox one, but you are limited greatly by what Microsoft allows on their systems(there are no free to play games on xbox one).

Business wise, this is Microsoft win, as they force more people into buying in.

Consumer wise, Sony wins for giving a little, while taking away free multiplayer from traditional gaming.

All in all, both need subscription if you are a social gamer.
I just think microsoft could learn a thing or two from sony when it comes to giving back a little, IE; allow apps without paywall.

You have to remember, people leave out facts when trying to make their argument seem logical. They act like infamous is the only game PS owners play. Killzone, COD, BF, Madden, etc etc if you want online multiplayer you need a PS subscription. And if someone buys an X1 they do need a subscription for titanfall, but they can also use it for all the other games available.

The price is now $489.99 the price drop is only for a limited time to move some of the consoles they have. A lot of this store over purchased stock and now they have to much and they want to move them out so they are dropping the price to clear some space then it will go back up to $500 so if you wanted one now is the time to get it.

Both offer value in their own ways. For people who want Kinect and what it offers, the Xbox One is probably the best value for them. If someone wants more power under the hood, the PS4 is the way to go. It's silly for me to say that Kinect isn't worth it for other people. I can only speak for myself. I also can't say that better specs are the only way to go with the PS4. People enjoying Titanfall more than Say Killzone don't care that the resolution is cut down a bit. To each their own.

Sony fans can hate on Kinect all they like, i love it personally. I don't have to use my headset to talk. I just chat by Kinect to Friends and, its got an awesome camera on it for streaming.

Sony camera is not included its a separate item to buy. So the reality is the x box 1 has more valuable.

Online subscription. Well i pay for a better service on x box 1 so i see no issue. Dedicated servers for first party games is way better than using player hosting,

Here is the difference between xb live and PSN.

Do your research and you'll see this is the truth.

Sony provides no dedicated servers for first party studios! Games currently using dedicated servers belong to studios not owned by Sony.

Dedicated servers are costly to run but servers provide stability and greatly reduce lag and latency for gamers.

Microsoft xbl live obviously is better.

Games for Gold is better on PSN, better game selection, but Microsoft has one advantage over Sony. If they give you games you own them for good. You don't need live you can play those games offline. You own them now.

Sony will not allow you to play those games once your subscription ends So is this better than what Microsoft offers? Games been offered by Microsoft have improved greatly last few months too remember that.

Updates are being done faster through the use of the cloud. Only possible with having live. Sony has a subscription model, but they seem to be less capable of pushing out updates for the PS4.

Disagree all you like this is why i think xb1 live is better.

Owning the games available from Game for Gold is a weak argument. I've been subscribed to PS+ since the beginning and have no inclination to cancel, so those games are a good as permanent. Also those games don't vanish from your account - they are there to play again if a person resubscribes. I'd much rather have a top quality selection 'on permanent loan', than have a crappy selection given to me.

And how about if you unsubscribe from Live, then most of the XB1's services are cut off as they are behind this paywall?

PS4 updates in the background now while in standby. Your 'updates are being done faster through the use of the cloud' just sounds like you swallowed the MS hype.

For £385 you get a PS4 with a game (infamous)
For £399 you get a Xbox One with a game (Titanfall)
But add the camera to make it like for like the PS4 goes up to £435.

People just don't know where the deals are.I got the Xbox One Titanfall Ed. w/ 1month of Xbox live for $400.Amazon mark down Day One Ed./Standard W/ Forza 5/Titanfall Bundle at $450 with a code: XIAMAZON knocking off $50=$400 also got another deal on 12month Day One Xbox Live for $34.99 on another site making my total of $434.99 (no taxes or shipping cost).By the way the Amazon code is still up but Xbox One back at $499 w/ code it's $450.

Hey geniuses, the Titanfall bundle also includes a free month of Xbox Live.. It'll take less than a week to complete inFamous: Second Son so giving players a full month of Titanfall would still be more of a value then a week or two of inFamous's single player story..

and beyond that, many customers may be already Xbox Live subscribers.. Plus there's a Forza 5 bundle for the same price so they can just race offline without the need for Xbox Live.. Plus many PS4 and Xbox One buyers are going to be interested in online play anyway.. And on and on and on.. My point is that there are way too many variables to simply tack on an extra $60 for Xbox Live fees (especially when PSN is a paid service now too)..

The reality is that an Xbox One + a game (Titanfall or Forza 5) = $450 and the Kinect 2.0 camera is essentially free.. That's a better value than a PS4 + a game for $460.. Especially if you're interested in a camera which will bring the cost up to $520..

you get more stuff for your money with the Xbox One purchase.. That's just the simple truth.. And that's essentially all this article was saying before the Sony Defense Force came to the rescue

so playing that 792p(just to prove c-boat wrong) is now free(maybe the first month,but whos gonna stop playing that game after 1 month,what a waste of money than, you have to figure in the xbox live $$ just to keep playing this eye-sore.

if you factor in psn+,at the end of the year,all the money you save on all those free games(I know live give SOME games I believe)the value dwarfs the xlive option by a country mile in savings... ps4>>>>xone

I wouldn't matter how cheap the Xbox One was (or the PS4 for that matter).

If you buy a console for certain exclusives then you'd never be able to say you'd get a better 'deal' through getting the console that doesn't have the exclusive that you want to play!

On the other hand, it is possible to overstate in your own mind how much you will like a certain exclusive. There may be a very similar type of game on the other console that would compensate for it. For instance, already there are some fighter games on the PS4 to make up for if you might have liked Killer Instinct.

The PS4 has a number of gaming advantages over the Xbox One. a) Playstation Plus is more generous and you'll be able to play indie games or downloadable that first came out (or are still coming out) on the PS3 on your PS4.
b) The PS4 has more memory in the box and whilst it's true that Xbox consoles tend to use a slightly brighter colour palette, there is little stopping the PS4 always having at least the same detail or more than the Xbox One. Unless we believe that MS's cloud service can be so much better to overtake that box tech leap.

The Xbox One has a lovely controller- weighty, solid. It has no touch pad. Sony's announced VR. Microsoft haven't announced it as solidly yet.

The PS4's range of indie games will be unbeatable and some on the past generation have been really good, really arty.

I'm sure that you could never be disappointed with how the PS4 will pan out. Microsoft are too much in love with making money at the expense of actually putting out thinking man's games.

Remember the innovations that Sony have brought (if not invented at least put in a major console). Facial / body mapping in many exclusives games as standard, Sony Home , wireless controllers, free online for 6+ years, generous PS+ offers.

Microsoft made you have to pay for online right back from 2001! 'Let me tell you how it will be. A tax to play online you'll see. Cos this is Xbox. Oh yes, this is Xbox'. (to tune of Taxman by The Beatles).
At least they initially had the advantage of having the most powerful console as a kind of excuse. Not any more.
They have to fall back on tired lines about number of servers as an excuse for why they charged you these last 6 years when Sony didn't.

You can't take that gold with you when you're dead Microsoft.
